Mumbai, July 19, 2021: After helming films like Oh My God, All Is Well, and 102 Not Out, filmmaker Umesh Shukla has joined hands with Sony Pictures Films India for a family entertainer, titled "Aankh Micholi". The star-studded film features, veteran actor Paresh Rawal along with Mrunal Thakur, Sharman Joshi, Abhimanyu Dassani, Divya Dutta, Abhishek Banerjee, Darshan Jariwala, Grusha Kapoor, and Vijay Raaz in the key roles. ## Vivek Krishnani, Managing Director, Sony Pictures Films India says, "In these times, 'Aankh Micholi' will be the perfect comedy entertainer to bring entire families together and will truly be a rib-tickling roller-coaster ride. The India Box Office Sees A Positive Sign As Salman Khan Starrer Radhe Released On Limited Screens

Mumbai, July 17, 2021: Salman Khan's Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai was put on hold for more than a year to give it a theatrical release. It was finally set to release in theaters on May 13, but the prevailing second wave of the covid-19 pandemic forced makers to change their plans. However, this time the makers were not in a mood to delay the release anymore, and hence, they opt for simultaneous OTT release via pay-per-view model and theaters on May 13. ## As theaters were closed in India when Radhe release, the movie automatic became a direct-to-digital release, leaving theatrical business gasping. It was in June when the Maharasthra government allowed theaters to reopen in areas where the covid-19 situation was under control. Upon the reopening of cinemas, Radhe released on the big screens, even though only limited screens were available. While the box office collection was nowhere close to the pre-covid era, it was still increasing to see the audiences stepping out from their houses to watch the movie. ## Recently, the Rajasthan and Utter Pradesh governments also permitted the reopening of cinemas with 50% capacity. Before started screening in Rajasthan on July 13, Radhe had collected around Rs. 1.80 lakh across theaters. From Tuesday onwards, Radhe witness a sharp growth in the collection. ## The movie premiered on iconic single-screen theaters, Raj Mandir, and collected approx 25k on Tuesday, 25.3k on Wednesday, 31.5k on Thursday, and around 36k on Friday. On the other hand, Radhe reportadly released at 5 properties in UP on Friday and collected around 60k from 10 shows. Including Rajasthan and UP's collection, Radhe has so far earned approx. 3.30 lakh. ## The box office collection of Radhe in India should be taken positively considering the fact that the movie is almost two months old and received negative reviews from every corner of the country. It shows that the audience is willing to go out to watch movies in theaters if they get a chance. Filmmaker Madhu Mantena To Create Mytho-Verse, First Film To Take Place In Treta Yuga

The filmmaker on Thursday (July 15) announced that he is working on India's first cinematic universe based on Indian history and Mythology. ## Taking to his Instagram handle, Mantena shared a tinted red abstract photo that has a god and demon in it. The photo has 'Stories of Indian mythology' and 'Mythoverse' written on it. While sharing the photo he wrote, "Working on India's first cinematic universe based on Indian history and Mythology .. Our first film begins in Treta Yuga. 1.8 billion years have passed in this Kalpa so far..."## Meanwhile, Mantena recently opened up about his plans to make two epics, 'Ramayana' and 'Mahabharata'. "We are making it for the global audience. The ambition is so larger that we are going into the minute details of everything. We need to show the world what Ramayana is and it needs to portray all the magic that Valmiki wrote. Tamil OTT Blockbuster 'Soorarai Pottru' To Be Remade In Hindi

Suriya's production house, 2D Entertainment, joins hands with Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment to produce the Hindi version of this critically acclaimed and widely appreciated film. ## "The love and appreciation that was showered on Soorarai Pottru was unprecedented. From the minute I heard this story I felt this has to be a pan India film because the soul of it is such. The film was made available for screening at the 93rd Academy Awards but was not nominated. Apart from Suriya, the movie also starred Paresh Rawal, and Aparna Balamurali with Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Karunas amongst others in supporting roles. ## The cast and crew for the Hindi remake are yet to be finalized. Mumbai, July 7, 2021: Vineet Jain of Junglee Pictures has acquired the life rights of Jeevajothi Santhakumar, who fought a lengthy legal battle against the dosa king, P. Rajagopal who was accused of the murder of Jeevajothi's husband Prince Santhakumar, and eventually being convicted of the crime by the Hon'ble Supreme Court.## Junglee Pictures has collaborated with the renowned screenwriter Bhavani Iyer to pen this story which traces the making of the rags-to-riches businessman, a connoisseur of food, who founded the biggest south Indian food chain that has over 100 outlets across 28 countries. It will also delve into how Rajagopal obsessively tried to take Jeevajothi, the daughter of one of his employees, as his third wife on the advice of an astrologer. ## Jeevajothi was already married to Prince Santhakumar and rejected P Rajagopal who was double her age at that time. The rejection didn't go well with the restaurant mogul, and after one attempted murder, he successfully orchestrated the murder of her husband Santhakumar. He was convicted for a 2001 murder, and began serving a life sentence in July 2019. Several days after his imprisonment, he had a heart attack and died. ## Jeevajothi Santhakumar, who is looking forward to sharing her story with the world, said to Bollywood Hungama, "I am overwhelmed and elated by Junglee Pictures’ decision to make a feature film about my legal and emotional battle with this affluent hotelier, a struggle that went on for 18 years. I am confident that seeing this story on the big screen will bring about a drastic change in the status quo of patriarchy". ## Bhavani Iyer, who also penned Raazi, collaborating with Junglee Pictures for the second time. Ajay in association with Dil Raju also acquired the remake rights of the 2021 Telugu hit, Naandhi. ## Recently, it was revealed that Akshay Kumar's next film with Bell Bottom makers is the remake of the 2018 Tamil psychological crime thriller film, Ratsasan. Last year, John Abraham had bought the rights to the 2020 Malayalam thriller film Ayyappanum Koshiyum, in which he will also be starring alongside Abhishek Bachchan. ## Acclaimed filmmaker, S Shankar announced that he will be remaking his own 2005 Tamil film, Anniyan in Hindi with Ranveer Singh playing the lead role. The film will mark Shankar's return to Hindi films twenty years after his only Hindi directorial, Nayak (2001) that starred Anil Kapoor in the lead. Kabir Singh producer Murad Khetani of Cine1 Studios along with Endemol Shine India, and 7 Screen Studio also bought the remake rights of the 2021's biggest hit Tamil film, Master, starring Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathy. Salman Khan is said to be starring the Hindi remake. ## There are some reports claiming that Salman Khan has bought the Hindi remake rights of Ravi Teja's upcoming film, Khiladi. Boney Kapoor is remaking the 2021 Malayalam political thriller, One along with 'Helen' with his daughter Janhavi Kapoor in the lead, followed by the 2019 Tamil film 'Comali' with his son Arjun Kapoor. ## The time and cinema viewing might have changed for others, it is still hasn't changed much for Hindi filmmakers when it comes to remakes.
