Box Office: 'Captain Miller' and 'Ayalaan' Opening Day Early Estimates

Chennai, January 12 - Tamil star Dhanush's long-awaited period action drama Captain Miller has been released in theatres today to take the advantage of Pongal holidays. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the movie did well on its opening day despite competition. ## According to early estimates, Captain Miller scored around 8 crores net in the original Tamil version. The dubbed Hindi version minted an estimated 50 lakh while the Kannada version scored just 5 lakh for all India 8.50+ crores net (10 crores gross) opening. The initial word of mouth seems to be positive which should come into play over the festive weekend. ## Another Tamil release of the day, Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi Ayalaan scored an estimated 4 crores net (4.75 crores gross) collection on its opening day. The movie did show progress throughout the day as occupancy kept increasing due to positive word of mouth. ## Ayalaan is showing a much better trend in the advances for the second day which shows the movie has acceptance among the audiences despite multiple choices available to explore. Chennai, December 31 - After delivering the biggest grosser of his career in the form of "Leo", Thalapathy Vijay is back in the action with his next film, being directed by Venkat Prabhu. Produced by AGS Entertainment, the film marks the maiden collaboration between the Tamil superstar and director.## On December 31st, the makers delighted the fans by sharing the first-look title poster. The film has been titled GOAT - Greatest of All-Time and the first look revealed that Vijay is playing a duel role in the film. Chennai, December 17 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram teamed up with director Pa Ranjith for a period action drama film titled Thangalaan. The film is set during British rule in India and is about the tribal leader Thangalaan's valiant struggle against the British after they plot to seize their land for gold mining. ## Chiyaan Vikram recently shared on social media that he has started dubbing work for the movie, which gave the impression the film would be ready to release by January 26, 2024, as announced earlier. But now, according to the latest reports, Thangalaan is set to be pushed from its original date. ## It is said that the makers have submitted the film to screen in multiple prestigious national and international film festivals, and for that reason, it has been pushed to June 2024 release in multiple languages. Shah Rukh Khan Declined Lokesh Kanagaraj's Offer To Play Extended Role In Rajinikanth's 'Thalaivar 171'

Chennai, December 16 - Blockbuster Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj will next be directing superstar Rajinikanth in an action-packed entertainer, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171. The film marks the maiden film of the duo, and director Lokesh has planned to make it a high-octane action thriller which Rajinikanth hasn't done in a long time. ## Thalaivar 171 will be a Pan India release and for this, director Lokesh is in the process of locking a Bollywood star for an extended role. Over the last few weeks, there have been rumours that the filmmaker approached superstar Shah Rukh Khan for a key role in the movie, however, it wasn't confirmed by trusted sources. ## Now, according to a report in Pinkvilla, SRK was indeed approached for the movie but he politely declined the offer. It is said that SRK doesn't want to feature in an extended role though he has huge respect for legendary Rajinikanth. The Jawan actor declined the offer saying that he is focussing on doing standalone movies as he has done a few cameo appearances over the last couple of years and is not interested in doing anymore at this point. ## The report further added that even though SRK is not doing Thalaivar 171, he has shown interest in doing a standalone movie with Lokesh Kanagraj if he wants and come up with a good script. Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) has been the best thing that happened to the Kollywood industry in the last few years and the fans are keen to know what is in store for them next. ## As confirmed earlier, Karthi's "Kaithi 2" will be the next full-fledged film in the LCU but before that, a 10-minute short film about its origin will be released. Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' Hindi Version Tops Netflix's Top 10 Chart In India

Mumbai, November 29 - After completing its box office run, Thalapathy Vijay's blockbuster Leo recently started streaming on Netflix, and surprisingly, the Hindi version turned out to be the most-watched in India in its first weekend. ## "Leo" debuted on Netflix on November 24 in India while it started streaming globally on November 28. During the week of November 20 - November 26, the Hindi version of the movie was the most-watched title in India. Netflix doesn't reveal data for a particular country. ## At the box office, the "Leo" Hindi version grossed approx. 32 crores despite not getting released in multiplex chains. Netflix Announces Streaming Date of Thalapathy Vijay's Blockbuster 'Leo'

Chennai, November 20 - Thalapathy Vijay's action blockbuster Leo is nearing its box office run after debuting in theatres on October 19. The Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial has grossed over 600 crores at the worldwide box office and is currently the third highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time. ## There is not much gas left in the film to fire at the box office, and as pre-scheduled, the gangster drama is gearing up for its streaming debut on Netflix. The Rajini-led movie scored approximately 189.50 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu and "Leo" scored around 191.50 crores. It is now behind only Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan - 1" which grossed approx. 213 crores last year. ## "Leo" will become only the second movie to top 200 crores gross in Tamil Nadu and it is heading towards finishing around 210 crores gross. Chennai, October 28 - Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is on cloud nine with the mega success of the action drama "Leo", starring Thalapathy Vijay. Despite mixed reception regarding the second half, the film is doing very well at the box office and crossed 500 crores gross mark worldwide in 10 days.## The filmmaker, during the trailer launch event of Karthi's "Japan" today, accepted the public opinion that there were some flaws in the second half of "Leo", and promised to come up with a stronger output in his next film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). ## As known to everyone, "Leo" is the third film in the LCU and the next in the series is Karthi's "Kaithi 2" which will commence by the end of this year.
