Box Office: Vijay Sethupathi's 'Maharaja' Tops 100 Crore Gross Worldwide

Chennai, July 2 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the first Tamil movie of 2024 to top 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office. It has surpassed horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 which fell a little short of the 100 crores mark at an estimated around 99 crores. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja cleared the 100 crores worldwide gross in its third weekend in which it grossed approximately 4.50 crores, despite Kalki 2898 AD having a strong debut in Tamil Nadu with over 20 crores gross. ## After 17 days, the total domestic collection of Maharaja is an estimated 76+ crores gross while the overseas total is around 24 crores, for 100+ crores worldwide cume. The movie is expected to finish its box office run around 105 crores worldwide. ## The Tamil film industry has struggled in the first half of 2024 with a couple of box office hits which also include Aranmanai 4 and Garudan along with Thalapathy Vijay's re-released Ghilli in the last few weeks. Chennai, June 27 - Tamil star Suriya's much-awaited pan India movie Kanguva with director Siva has locked Dusshera 2024 release. Director Shankar Reveals Reason Behind Splitting Indian 2 In Two Parts

Chennai, June 26 - Legendary Kamal Haasan returns as Senapathy to fight corruption in the country in the sequel to his 1996 film, Indian. Directed by S. Shankar, the first of the two-part Indian 2 is set to hit screens on July 12 in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. ## Originally, Indian 2 was planned as a single movie but the makers have now split it into two parts. At the trailer launch event on June 25, director Shankar and Kamal Haasan talked about the reasons behind splitting the movie into two parts. ## While Kamal Haasan revealed that bringing the film in 2 parts was purely director Shankar's decision as he was the right man to judge his script, the director said that the decision was taken due to the demand of the script which is lengthy and goes from regional to pan India. ## Shankar explained that the story of the film, which is based on corruption, revolves around just 1 state in Indian 2 but as the story spreads all over the country, it became important to tell this in another part, which is Indian 3. The first part is over 3 hours long. ## "Our initial idea was to do only one part. After I started filming and when I sat in the editing room, all the scenes from my point of view came out very well. If, for the sake of it, you have to make it in one part, if I compressed the whole thing, the soul of every scene, the feel of every scene would have been lost". Shankar clarified (via Times of India).## Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, appreciated the hard work put in by director Shankar and Lyca Productions to stay with the film despite many hurdles. In case you don't know, Indian 2 has been in the making since 2019, but the production was halted due to an accident in 2020 while filming that killed some crew members before the COVID-19 pandemic put a further dent. The filming was finally wrapped up in March 2024. ## The movie stars Kamal Haasan, reprising his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption, with Siddharth, S. J. Hyderabad, June 22 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD is set to hit the big screens on June 27 amid massive expectations. The second trailer, which was launched on June 21, has raised excitement among the fans and trade which is expecting the movie to do wonders at the box office. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD has managed to do a huge worldwide theatrical business as the makers locked record deals for all major areas. Box Office: Vijay Sethupathi's 'Maharaja' Scored Excellent Opening Weekend

Chennai, June 17 - The Tamil film industry has returned to winning ways with a fourth success within two months at the domestic box office. After no-hit for the first four months of the year, the industry scored first hit in horror-comedy Aranmanai 4, followed by Garudan. Chennai, June 14 - Actor Soori's action thriller Garudan has emerged as a big success and has entered the 50 crores club at the worldwide box office in 15 days. Chennai, May 23 - Thalapathy Vijay's science fiction action drama The Greatest of All Time post-theatrical digital rights reportedly sold to Netflix for a massive sum of 110 crores, according to a report by Only Kollywood. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The GOAT is easily one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year and it is expected to set the box office on fire. Chennai, May 20 - Actor and director Sundar C's horror-comedy Aranmanai 4 has become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 at the worldwide box office, beating Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi adventure Ayalaan. ## Starring Sundar C, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Raashii Khanna, the fourth instalment of the hit franchise has grossed approximately 62 crores at the domestic box office, including approximately 56.50 crores in Tamil and 5.50 crores in the Telugu version.## The overseas collection of Aranmanai 4 is an estimated 16 crores, pushing the worldwide cume total to 78 crores gross in 17 days. Chennai, May 19 - Legendary superstar Kamal Haasan's vigilante action Indian 2 will be hitting worldwide cinemas on July 12, 2024, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, the makers have officially confirmed the new date. ## Directed by S. Box Office: Aranmanai 4 Tops 50 Crore Gross Collection In India

Chennai, May 13 - Actor and filmmaker Sundar C's Aranmanai 4 has become the third Tamil movie of 2024 to top 50 crores gross collection at the Indian box office after Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan. ## Starring Tamannah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna in the leading roles, the 4th instalment of the horror-comedy franchise minted approximately 49.30 crores gross in India through the second weekend and on its 11th day (2nd Monday), it has topped the 50 crores gross mark. ## The Tamil version of the film has contributed approximately 45 crores gross while the Telugu version scored around 4.30 crores gross in 10 days so far. Dhanush's 'Raayan' Locks June 2024 Release Date

Chennai, May 6 - Aranmanai 4 scored a very good opening weekend at the domestic box office with superb occupancy across Tamil Nadu state which saw it crossing the lifetime domestic total of Lal Salaam in which superstar Rajinikanth played the extended role. ## Directed by Sundar C, the horror comedy minted approximately 22 crores gross in India, including 20 crores in Tamil and 2 crores in Telugu in the first three-day weekend.
