About This Movie

Dhurandhar The film draws inspiration from real-life events involving geopolitical tensions and covert operations conducted by India's RAW, particularly those associated with Operation Lyari, a government-led crackdown on gangs and criminal syndicates in the Lyari neighbourhood of Karachi, Pakistan. Set against the backdrop of the IC-814 hijacking in 1999 and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the film follows India's Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, who crafts a daring and indomitable mission to infiltrate and dismantle a powerful terrorist network operating out of Pakistan. To execute this high-risk operation, Sanyal recruits an unlikely asset, a 20-year-old boy from Punjab, held captive for committing a revenge-driven crime. Recognising the boy's potential and raw intensity, Sanyal decides to mould him into a weapon capable of penetrating Karachi's ruthless underworld mafia.

Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar (Uncensored) Feature in 2026 OTT Rankings; Main Version Tops With 31.1M Views

BY SACNILK

The OTT market has produced several major successes in 2026, with a mix of theatrical blockbusters and direct-to-digital releases attracting significant viewership across platforms. The latest rankings of the most-viewed Indian films on OTT reveal a clear leader at the top, while also highlighting the growing dominance of Netflix in the streaming space. Dhurandhar currently stands as the most-watched Indian film on OTT in 2026. Streaming on Netflix, the film has accumulated an impressive 31.1 million views, making it the only title to cross the 30 million-view milestone so far this year. The gap between Dhurandhar and the rest of the field is substantial, underlining the scale of its digital success. Accused occupies the second position with 16.6 million views, followed by Made In Korea with 13.5 million views. Haq and Mardaani 3 complete the top five with 11.3 million and 10.7 million views respectively. While several films have managed to cross the 10 million-view mark, none have come close to matching Dhurandhar's performance. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Most Watched Indian OTT Films in 2026RANKMOVIE NAMEPLATFORMVIEWERSHIP (MILLIONS)1DhurandharNetflix31.1M2AccusedNetflix16.6M3Made In KoreaNetflix13.5M4HaqNetflix11.3M5Mardaani 3Netflix10.7M6KartavyaNetflix10.3M7The Raja SaabJioHotstar10.3M8Tere Ishk MeinNetflix9.7M9SubedaarAmazon Prime Video9.6M10De De Pyaar De 2Netflix7.7M A closer look at the rankings shows just how far ahead Dhurandhar is from its competitors. The film's 31.1 million views are nearly double the 16.6 million views recorded by Accused and more than twice the tally of third-placed Made In Korea. In fact, Dhurandhar enjoys a lead of 14.5 million views over the film placed immediately behind it. Another interesting detail from the rankings is the presence of Dhurandhar (Uncensored). The alternate version of the film has also found an audience on streaming platforms, accumulating 3.3 million views across Netflix . The title currently ranks 22nd among the most-viewed Indian OTT films of 2026. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) When both versions are considered together, the Dhurandhar brand has generated a combined 34.4 million views across OTT platform. While the main version accounts for the overwhelming majority of the audience, the additional viewership recorded by the uncensored cut further extends the film's digital reach. Platform-wise, Netflix dominates the rankings. Eight of the top ten films are streaming on the platform, including each of the top six positions. JioHotstar's The Raja Saab and Amazon Prime Video's Subedaar are the only non-Netflix titles to secure places in the top ten. The rankings also highlight the increasing scale of OTT consumption in India. Seven films have crossed the 10 million-view mark, while only three titles have managed to exceed 13 million views. Dhurandhar remains the lone film to breach the 30 million-view milestone, making it the standout performer of the year so far. With several major theatrical releases still expected to arrive on streaming platforms in the coming months, the leaderboard could see further changes. For now, however, Dhurandhar remains the clear leader among Indian OTT films in 2026, with its main version topping the charts and its uncensored version also securing a place among the year's most-viewed digital releases.

Dhurandhar 2 Depiction of Bade Saheb Rattles D-Company; Mumbai on High Alert Following Security Threats

BY SACNILK

The record-breaking run of the Dhurandhar franchise at the box office is now being overshadowed by a developing real-world security situation. While the film has shattered historical milestones by crossing the 3,100 Cr mark worldwide, its impact has moved far beyond the cinema halls. According to a recent report by NDTV, intelligence sources suggest that the movie has provoked an aggressive reaction from the very criminal organizations it portrays on screen, leading to a state of high alert in Mumbai. The core of the controversy centers on the character known as Bade Saheb, played by Danish Iqbal. While the first film kept the identity of the primary antagonist somewhat mysterious, the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, takes a much more direct approach. It depicts a frail, aging, and bedridden version of a figure who bears a striking resemblance to Dawood Ibrahim. Showing the underworld don in such a vulnerable state, requiring constant medical attention and nearing the end of his life, has reportedly stripped away the myth of power that the real-life syndicate has tried to maintain for decades. According to sources cited in recent reports by NDTV, this specific portrayal has deeply rattled D-Company. The syndicate is reportedly angered by the film's attempt to humanize their leader's decline and portray him as weak rather than formidable. This has led to intelligence warnings about a possible Mumbai Move, where the gang might attempt to carry out a high-profile action or target a powerful public figure in India. The goal of such an operation would be to revive their tarnished image and re-establish a sense of fear that they believe the movie has undermined. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The report also suggests that the gang is seeking assistance from their handlers in the ISI to coordinate this retaliatory effort. The fear among security agencies is that the underworld group feels pressured to prove they are still an active and dangerous force. The timing of this controversy is also notable, as it follows the massive viewership numbers of the film's World Television Premiere on May 30, which brought the sensitive content to an even larger domestic audience across India. From a production standpoint, the level of realism achieved in the film was no accident. Director Aditya Dhar and his team focused heavily on authenticity, with Danish Iqbal reportedly spending twelve hours each day in prosthetic sessions to achieve the look of an ailing, bedridden man. This commitment to detail is what has made the film a cultural phenomenon, but it is also exactly what has made it such a polarizing topic within intelligence circles. The film has essentially challenged the public perception of the underworld by focusing on its eventual decay. As of June 1, 2026, security has been tightened across Mumbai for important figures and public locations following these intelligence warnings. While the Dhurandhar franchise is already a record-breaking financial success, its impact is now being felt in the real world. It is rare for a fictional spy story to cause such a direct response from the actual groups it set out to portray on screen.

The film received appreciation for its raw action sequences and rooted narrative. The film is expected to register impressive television ratings, considering its strong theatrical popularity and fan following among mass audiences. The Five Must-Watch Indian Spy Movies If You Loved Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, May 26 - Director Aditya Dhar's spy action thriller Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge have changed the game for Indian cinema in this genre. Grounded espionage and raw action are the core of the blockbuster franchise. Ranveer Singh's gritty performance as deep-cover agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi set a new gold standard for realistic Indian spy thrillers. If you love complex, chapter-based plots, tense standoffs, and nation-first narratives, these five Indian spy masterpieces will keep you on the edge of your seat. While Dhurandhar has definitely set the bar super high, these five films have been the gold standard in this genre. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Baby (2015) Where to Watch - JioHotstar, YouTube (rent) Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Baby is about an elite, unnamed Indian counter-intelligence team that sets out on a ticking-clock mission to track down a terrorist group and eliminate dangerous sleeper cells. Starring Akshay Kumar as lead agent Ajay Singh Rajput, alongside Rana Daggubati and Taapsee Pannu, the film opts for hyper-realistic action, gritty international locations, and a raw, professional look at the gruelling reality of spy work. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Madras Cafe (2013) Where to Watch - Prime Video, YouTube (rent), Apple TV This political thriller is directed by Shoojit Sircar and features John Abraham as the lead agent and Nargis Fakhri as an international journalist. In the movie, an Indian army special forces officer is recruited by the intelligence wing to infiltrate a war-torn island and break up a powerful rebel force. It feels almost like a documentary, exploring the dark, heavy realities of real-world spy craft. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) D-Day (2013) Where to Watch - Prime Video, MX Player, YouTube Directed by Nikkhil Advani, the film focuses on a highly secret, four-member R&AW team that infiltrates Pakistan to capture and bring back "Goldman," India's most wanted criminal mastermind. The film boasts a powerhouse cast including Arjun Rampal (who also stars in Dhurandhar), Rishi Kapoor, Irfan Khan, and Huma Qureshi. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Vishwaroopam (2013) Where to Watch - JioHotstar A seemingly effeminate Kathak dance teacher in New York is hunted by the FBI, only to reveal he is a highly lethal, top-tier Indian intelligence agent tracking a global terror network. Written, directed, and led by cinema legend Kamal Haasan, the movie also stars Rahul Bose and Pooja Kumar. It mirrors Dhurandhar's massive global scope, explosive hand-to-hand combat choreography, and clever use of shifting secret identities to outsmart dangerous adversaries. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Raazi (2018) Where to Watch - Prime Video, Netflix, Apple TV On the eve of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, a young, untrained Kashmiri girl is married into a high-ranking Pakistani military family to serve as a deep-cover spy. Four Reasons Why Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar Is Different From YRF Spy Universe Films

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, May 26 - The mega blockbuster success of Aditya Dhar's spy thriller franchise Dhurandhar and its sequel Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has changed how audiences may view Indian spy cinema going forward. Starring Ranveer Singh, the film follows his character Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a deep-cover Indian agent living a dangerous double life inside enemy territory. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Ever since Dhurandhar films have been released, the franchise's gritty story has sparked an intense debate among moviegoers. R. Madhvan, who has played a major role in the two-part film series, famously said during the trailer launch event of the first film last year that Dhurandhar will vanish the spy genre in Indian cinema. This has sparked a debate as many compare Dhurandhar's style to the famous Yash Raj Films Spy Universe, which includes hits like Pathaan, Tiger, and War. While YRF films have proven their box office dominance over the year, Dhurandhar's success might have put the studio under pressure regarding its future films. Here are five points which makes 3000+ crore blockbuster to YRF Spy movies. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Realism vs. Fantasy While both franchises centred around terrorism, the YRF Spy Universe functions as a larger-than-life, masala entertainer, and popcorn-friendly world where you leave your brain at home. On the other hand, Dhurandhar is highly grounded, which explores actual intelligence tactics, politics, and historical underpinnings, starring from 1999 Kandahar hijacking to the Karachi underworld. Grit over Glamour YRF movies are famous for flashy international locations, stylish outfits, and massive dance numbers. Dhurandhar features heavy hyper-violence, profanity, and a dark, moody visual style. It completely skips typical Bollywood song-and-dance tropes to keep the tension alive while using iconic songs as background music in sync with scenes. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Character Portrayal In the YRF universe, spies act like unstoppable superheroes who can dodge bullets effortlessly and jump from one plane to another. In Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh's character (Jaskirat Singh Rangi) is quiet, lethal, and deeply vulnerable. The movie showcases the immense emotional and mental toll of deep-cover spy craft rather than treating it like a fun adventure. Geopolitical Stakes YRF films often take a softer, completely fictionalised stance on international conflicts to appeal to a global audience. Dhurandhar does not try to please both sides. Dhurandhar: Raw and Undekha Gets Streaming Release Date On Netflix And JioHotstar

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, May 21 - The first Dhurandhar is not done yet. After the record-breaking box office run and setting viewership records on Netflix, the extended and uncensored version of Aditya Dhar's directorial is set to stream on both Netflix and JioHotstar. On Thursday, both platforms announced that the Dhurandhar: Raw & Undekha version will start streaming on May 22 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. The announcement quickly grabbed attention on social media, with fans expressing excitement over the alternate version. Many viewers had previously claimed that the earlier OTT release featured trimmed sequences and toned-down dialogues compared to the theatrical cut. The newly announced Raw & Undekha edition is expected to restore several of those moments while presenting the film in a grittier format. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Soon after the streaming date was revealed, confusion spread online as some users assumed the announcement was related to Dhurandhar: The Revenge. However, reports later clarified that the upcoming release is an alternate cut of the original Dhurandhar and not the sequel, which will begin streaming on JioHotstar on June 4, followed by Netflix on June 19. The film, headlined by Ranveer Singh, emerged as one of the biggest action entertainers of the year and performed exceptionally across theatrical markets. With the extended version now arriving on OTT, viewers who wanted a more uncensored experience are expected to revisit the film once again. The dual-platform release on Netflix and JioHotstar is also likely to boost the film's digital reach significantly.
