From the expansion of the Lust Stories anthology to gritty sports crime thrillers and the fifth season of the Kapil Sharma phenomenon, 2026 is set to be Netflix's most ambitious year in the Indian market. The 2026 movie slate is headlined by the highly anticipated social thriller Ikka, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Serving as the centerpiece of the lineup, the film marks a historic cinematic reunion by bringing Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna together on screen for the first time in nearly three decades since their 1997 collaboration in Border. In this official remake of the blockbuster Kaththi, Deol is expected to portray a challenging double role, while Khanna is slated for a sophisticated, high-stakes character designed to mirror their legendary screen chemistry. Adding to the high-octane lineup is Gandhari, an action-thriller written and produced by Kanika Dhillon under her banner Kathha Pictures. Directed by Devashish Makhija, the film stars Taapsee Pannu alongside Ishwak Singh and is described as a revenge saga with a soul, featuring Pannu as a mother on a mission in a fiercely protective and physically demanding role. For viewers seeking psychological depth and social commentary, the slate also includes Lust Stories 3, the latest installment of the fan-favorite anthology exploring urban relationship dynamics through four distinct lenses, and Accused, a gritty legal thriller that delves into the dark side of the Indian judicial system by following a high-profile criminal case that is not what it seems. Dhurandhar 2: Yami Gautam to Reunite with Aditya Dhar for a Powerful Cameo in Ranveer Singh's Spy Sequel; Details Inside

The momentum for Aditya Dhar's massive espionage sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has reached new heights following a major casting update. According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, acclaimed actress Yami Gautam is set to make a pivotal cameo appearance in the film, reuniting with her husband and director Aditya Dhar for the first time since the legendary Uri: The Surgical Strike. This development adds a layer of lucky charm and high-octane intensity to a project that is already being hailed as the biggest cinematic event of 2026. Yami Gautam’s transition into an action-thriller powerhouse makes her a seamless fit for the Dhurandhar universe, aligning with her steady evolution toward more intense and physically demanding roles. She redefined her career by trading her earlier girl-next-door image for a sharp, authoritative portrayal of Intelligence Officer Pallavi Sharma in Uri: The Surgical Strike. She further solidified her credentials as an action star with the 2024 hit Article 370, where she played NIA agent Zooni Haksar, executing intense hand-to-hand combat and handling firearms with professional precision. Noted for her tactical realism and grounded intensity—qualities that have become a signature of Aditya Dhar's cinematic style—her ability to bring emotional depth to gritty espionage roles has made her a standout performer in the genre. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   The news of her cameo comes at a time when the legacy of the first Dhurandhar (released Dec 2025) is still fresh in the minds of the audience. The first installment was a box office juggernaut, earning a staggering ₹1303 Crore worldwide and becoming an all-time blockbuster. By bringing Yami into the fold alongside a cast that includes R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, Aditya Dhar is effectively assembling a Superteam of intense performers designed to surpass the ₹1300 Crore milestone of the original. Dhurandhar Box Office: Film Shatters Stree 2's 7th Week Record; Vicky Kaushal to Reprise Uri Role in Dhurandhar 2

Director Aditya Dhar is officially expanding his directorial footprint by creating a massive cinematic crossover. According to a report by Mid-day, Vicky Kaushal is set to feature in an extended cameo in the upcoming sequel, Dhurandhar 2. In a major twist for fans, Kaushal will be reprising his legendary role as Major Vihaan Shergill from the 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike. This move confirms the formation of a Dhurandhar Universe, strategically linking Dhar's previous military masterpiece with this current franchise. The integration of Major Vihaan Shergill into Dhurandhar 2 is a significant narrative development. Despite Uri being set in 2016, Aditya Dhar has reportedly woven the character into the new storyline seamlessly. The cameo is expected to be high-impact, featuring several action blocks. While it remains to be seen if Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh's characters will share the screen, the inclusion of the Uri lead adds immense star power to the sequel. Furthermore, the report indicates that Akshaye Khanna's role in the second installment will be limited to specific flashback sequences to accommodate the expanding universe. While the sequel generates buzz, the first Dhurandhar installment continues its historic run at the box office, demonstrating unprecedented longevity. In its seventh week of release, the film has maintained a rock-solid performance. The 7th-week collection breakdown is as follows: Day 43 (Friday) at ₹1.75 Cr Day 44 (Saturday) at ₹3.00 Cr Day 45 (Sunday) at ₹3.75 Cr Day 46 (Monday) at ₹1.50 Cr Day 47 (Tuesday) at ₹1.50 Cr This brings the total India Net collection for the first five days of the seventh week to a staggering ₹11.50 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   With two days still remaining in the week, Dhurandhar has already officially surpassed the previous all-time 7th-week record held by Stree 2 (₹9.35 Cr). This achievement is part of a larger trend of the film's extraordinary legs at the box office. Although Dhurandhar initially ranked at the 12th position for highest opening week collections, it has dominated every subsequent week, bagging the #1 spot for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th-week collections. Once the seventh week concludes, it is guaranteed to take the first position on that chart as well, surpassing Stree2,Chhaava and Pushpa 2: The Rule. The cumulative box office standing of Dhurandhar cements its status as an All-Time Blockbuster. The film's total India Net collection currently stands at ₹826.6 Cr, with an India Gross collection of ₹991.65 Cr. Internationally, the film has performed exceptionally well, raking in an Overseas collection of ₹293.6 Cr. This brings the total Worldwide collection to a massive ₹1285.25 Cr. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge Teaser CBFC Rating and Runtime Details Confirmed; To Be Attached with Border 2

The anticipation for the continuation of the Dhurandhar saga has reached a new peak with the latest official update regarding its promotional material. On January 19, 2026, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) officially certified the teaser for the sequel, titled Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. In a move that highlights the film's gritty and high-octane nature, the teaser has been granted an A (Adults Only) certificate. The certified runtime for this first glimpse is clocked at exactly 1 minute and 48 seconds, promising a packed and intense introduction to the next chapter of the story. To maximize the film's reach, the makers have strategically decided to attach the Dhurandhar 2 teaser to the theatrical prints of the highly anticipated Border 2. Starting from Day 1 of the Border 2 release, audiences in cinemas will be the first to witness the return of the franchise on the big screen. This cross-promotion is expected to generate massive traction, given the overlapping audience base for both high-scale action spectacles. The sequel follows in the footsteps of a cinematic giant. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the first installment of Dhurandhar emerged as a generational blockbuster, redefining box office benchmarks for Indian cinema. The film featured an elite ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, alongside powerhouse performers like Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan. The plot, a sophisticated spy thriller centered on international espionage and high-stakes combat, resonated deeply with audiences globally. Currently continuing its record-shattering theatrical run, Dhurandhar has already achieved All Time Blockbuster status. The film's commercial performance remains extraordinary, having amassed a Worldwide Gross of ₹1283.5 crore to date. Its domestic journey has seen an India Net collection of ₹825.1 crore (Gross: ₹989.9 crore), while it continues to dominate international markets with an Overseas collection of ₹293.6 crore. The franchise's immense brand value was further solidified when Netflix acquired the combined digital rights for both parts in a landmark ₹130 crore deal, even as the first installment remains a top draw in cinemas. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Following the monumental success of the first installment, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge will see Ranveer Singh return as the primary lead, reprising his role as the undercover Indian agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Hamza). Director Aditya Dhar has finalized the return of the key ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, and Sara Arjun as Yalina. A significant development for the sequel is the return of Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait; however, trade reports confirm his appearance is limited to pivotal flashback sequences that will explore the character's origins and deeper ties to the ongoing conflict. On the antagonistic front, the threat level is set to escalate as Arjun Rampal's character, Major Iqbal, takes a more central role following the events of the first film. The narrative will also revolve around the mysterious Bade Sahab, the shadow mastermind teased in Part 1, whose official casting is being kept under wraps by the makers for the theatrical release. With the sequel scheduled for theatrical release on March 19, 2026, the certification of the teaser marks the beginning of a high-decibel marketing campaign aimed at breaking the records set by its predecessor.

Dhurandhar Box Office: IMPPA Appeals to PM Modi to Lift Ban in 6 Gulf Countries After Film Enters ₹1200 Cr Club

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has officially reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking his immediate intervention to lift the ban on the blockbuster spy thriller Dhurandhar across six Gulf nations. In a formal letter dated January 7, 2026, the producers' body termed the ban a suppression of the freedom of expression, especially since the film has already been cleared by India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and has emerged as a historic success. The appeal follows reports that authorities in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia have restricted the film's release. The ban is reportedly due to the film's sensitive geopolitical plot, which follows Indian covert intelligence operations set against the backdrop of real-life terror events such as the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the IC-814 hijacking. Despite its massive global popularity, Gulf censors have allegedly flagged the content as having anti-Pakistan messaging, a claim the filmmakers and IMPPA have moved to challenge through diplomatic channels. Massive Financial Setback: ₹90 Crore Lost. Directed by Uri fame Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar has emerged as an All Time Blockbuster, recently entering the elite ₹1,200 crore club worldwide. While it is currently nearing the all-time Hindi net record set by Pushpa 2: The Rule, the film has already cemented its place as one of the biggest Indian grossers in history. As per the latest reports, the film has amassed a Worldwide gross of ₹1228 Cr, with an India Net of ₹786 Cr, India Gross of ₹943 Cr, and Overseas collections reaching ₹285 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   However, despite these historic numbers, the lack of a Middle Eastern release—a traditional stronghold for Indian action films—has caused a significant financial dent.Overseas distributor Pranab Kapadia estimated that the ban across six Gulf countries has resulted in a loss of nearly $10 million (approx. ₹90 crore) from that market alone. IMPPA President Abhay Sinha emphasized in the letter to the Prime Minister that these are India-friendly countries with whom India shares robust economic and cultural ties, making the unilateral ban even more unexpected. The letter, which was also copied to Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar and I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urges the Government of India to engage with the respective authorities to ensure that artistic freedom is respected. Dhurandhar features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, portraying a high-octane operation set in Karachi's Lyari area. As the film continues its record-breaking run in North America and India, the industry remains hopeful that government-level dialogue will allow the millions of Indian expats in the Middle East to finally watch the film on the big screen.

Ranveer Singh Starrer Dhurandhar Nears Pushpa 2 Record Ahead of The Second Part's Titanic Clash with Yash's Toxic

Yash Raj Films has acknowledged the historic box office run of Dhurandhar, as the Ranveer Singh-starrer continues its sensational march in theatres. The Aditya Dhar directorial has not only shattered multiple records in its extended run but has now firmly positioned itself as the biggest blockbuster in Hindi cinema history. After completing over a month at the box office, Dhurandhar recently scripted another milestone by delivering the biggest 5th weekend ever for a Hindi film, collecting an impressive ₹33.25 crore net. With this, the film's total net collection has surged past 781 crore in just 33 days, putting it within striking distance of Pushpa 2's all-time Hindi net record. It will cross Pushpa 2's 812 crore net record over its 6th weekend to become the biggest Hindi grosser. Dhurandhar has set a new gold standard for solo-language releases. While other ₹1000-crore club entrants relied on pan-India, multi-language releases to increase their numbers, Ranveer Singh's espionage drama has achieved this gargantuan feat through its Hindi version only, making it a unique record holder in the history of the Indian box office. Director Aditya Dhar has once again proven his mettle in the action-thriller genre. After the massive success of Uri: The Surgical Strike, Dhar has scaled even greater heights with Dhurandhar. Below is a look at his top-performing directorial ventures: Dhurandhar (2025): ₹781.75 Cr+ (India Net - Ongoing) Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019): ₹244.14 Cr (India Net) With just two major releases, Aditya Dhar has become one of the most bankable directors in the country. His ability to blend realistic military/intelligence operations with high-octane commercial cinema has resonated deeply with the Naya Bharat audience. The frenzy surrounding the film isn't stopping anytime soon. The makers have already confirmed Dhurandhar: Part 2 (officially titled Dhurandhar 2: Revenge), which is slated for a grand release on March 19, 2026. However, the path to the box office won't be easy this time. Dhurandhar 2 is set for a massive box office collision with Yash's highly anticipated Pan-India film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   While Dhurandhar currently rules the charts, one cannot underestimate the box office might of Yash, who essentially redefined the Pan-India phenomenon. Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) holds the distinction of being the Highest Grossing Indian Film of the Year (HGOTY) for 2022, with a staggering Indian net collection of approximately ₹859.7 Crore and a worldwide gross of ₹ 1,215 crore. Even before the sequel, KGF: Chapter 1 had already set a benchmark as the first Kannada film to cross the ₹250 crore mark worldwide. Yash remains one of the few actors whose films have consistently challenged the dominance of the biggest Bollywood and Tollywood stars, making his upcoming return with Toxic a genuine threat to any record currently standing. Dhurandhar has received praise not just for its box office numbers but for its technical brilliance. Featuring an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, the film gripped audiences despite its massive 214-minute (3 hours and 34 minutes) runtime. As the film continues its legendary run, it currently stands as the 4th highest domestic grosser of all time, sitting just behind Pushpa 2: The Rule, Baahubali 2, and KGF Chapter 2. With the sequel arriving in just a few months, the Dhurandhar mania is only expected to intensify.

Producer Reacts To Akshaye Khanna's Exit From Drishyam 3 and Confirms His Replacement

Mumbai, December 27 - Akshaye Khanna, who has been riding on the success of Dhurandhar, gave a major shock to the makers of the upcoming suspense thriller Drishyam 3 by exiting the film at the last moment. It was reported that the actor demanded high remuneration, among others, which wasn't met and eventually led the actor to exit the film. Now, Drishyam 3's producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has reacted to the news, and he has blasted Akshaye Khanna for his unprofessional behaviour. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the producer revealed what went on behind the scenes, accusing the actor of making unreasonable demands and stating that he plans to sue him. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) "We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna. His fees also got locked after a lot of renegotiations from his side. He insisted that he would like to wear a wig. But (director) Abhishek Pathak convinced him that it wouldn't be practical, as it would result in continuity issues since Drishyam 3 is a sequel.
