Written and directed by Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, the film promises to be more than just a biography; it is a documentation of Indian cinema's history. The narrative will chronicle V. Shantaram's illustrious journey, spanning from the silent era to the revolutionary arrival of sound, and eventually to the vibrant age of colour cinema. V. Shantaram was known for classics like Do Aankhen Barah Haath, Navrang, and Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje, and the film is expected to delve into the making of these masterpieces and the man behind the lens who used cinema as a tool for social change.
To ensure the film does justice to the legacy of the filmmaker, a top-tier technical crew has been assembled. The visual grandeur will be captured by ace cinematographer Ravi Varman (ASC, ISC), while the editing will be handled by the legendary Sreekar Prasad. The period costumes are designed by Nachiket Barve. The project holds immense sentimental value as it is produced by Rahul Kiran Shantaram, the grandson of the legend, alongside Subhash Kale and Sarita Ashwin Varde. Presented by Rajkamal Entertainment, V. Shantaram is poised to be a landmark film for 2026.
With a powerful tagline The Rebel of Indian Cinema, the film is set to explore the grit and passion of a man who built an empire from scratch. For Siddhant Chaturvedi, this is undoubtedly the most challenging project of his career. As the poster makes waves on social media, the industry is eagerly waiting to see how the young star brings the gravitas of V. Shantaram to life on the silver screen.
