A Sequel To Hit 'Dhadak' Is In The Works With Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri In The Lead

Mumbai, April 17 - A sequel to Dharma Productions' hit romantic film Dhadak is reportedly in the works with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri in the lead. It will be directed by debutante Shazia Iqbal, who has been working as a Production Designer for thirteen years in the Indian Film & Advertising Industry.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, "Dhadak", which was a remake of the Marathi movie "Sairat", was released in 2018 and marked the debut of Ishaan Khattar and Janhvi Kapoor. The film did very well at the box office, grossing over 100 crores worldwide against a budget of approx. 30 crores.
According to Pinkvilla, Karan Johar wants to turn "Dhadak" into a proper intense romantic franchise in which two protagonists fight society to live together as the filmmaker believes that this zone of going against all odds for love has the potential to get a franchise value.
The report further adds that after contemplating on several subjects, Karan Johar has greenlit a subject that qualifies to be a sequel to Dhadak and has roped in two very talented youngsters to headline Dhadak 2. It is also reported that a top actor will come on board to play the antagonist's role.
The prep work will begin soon and the shoot is expected to commence later this year.
