Mumbai, November 14 - The much-awaited romantic comedy sequel De De Pyaar De 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan, has taken a decent start on the expected lines at the domestic box office. According to early estimates, DDPD2 has opened in the range of 8-9 crores net collection, which is very much in line with pre-release expectations. A double-digit start for the film would have been ideal, but not so good pre-sales indicated that it would require extraordinary word of mouth to reach there, which didn't happen. Given the sequel tag, the opening of DDPD2 is below par, as the first film opened to over 10 crores net in 2019. As said, the opening is still not something which can be called bad, and has comfortably beaten the opening of Ajay Devgn's last movie, Son of Sardaar 2 (7.25 crores net). The film has a chance to bounce back strongly on Saturday and Sunday, especially with hardly any competition at the moment. The weekend collection of DDPD2 will aim to reach around 30 crores net, which is, even though not a good total, but will be respectable. Directed by Anshul Sharma, the sequel marks Ajay Devgn's return to the romantic comedy space after a gap, pairing him once again with Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan joins the cast in a key role, among others. The film has been certified U/A by the CBFC with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 27 minutes, making it a family-friendly entertainer targeted at multiplex audiences. Mumbai, November 12 - Earlier this year, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and legendary director Rajkumar Hirani announced their third collaboration after the iconic blockbusters like 3 Idiots and PK. The duo reunited for the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema. The announcement of the film created a lot of excitement among the fans and in the industry, until recently, when it was reported that Aamir is not happy with the script. According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, Aamir and Hirani have decided to shelve the project and will instead take on another film. It is said that the duo is not happy with the script and has decided to put it on hold. "Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are both known for their perfection. However, they were not satisfied with the script for the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic. Aamir felt it was too dry for today's audiences and lacked the humour typically expected from their pair. After rewriting the script several times, they decided to shelve the project for now", says the report. The report further stated that the blockbuster duo wanted a perfect script to start a film on an iconic figure like Dadasaheb Phalke, which didn't work out as it reportedly lacked emotional impact. The duo is now exploring possibilities to work together on another film. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan, who was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par earlier this year, is reading several scripts and is set to lock his next film soon.
