The actor recently appeared in the Netflix movie "AK Vs AK" and garnering good responses and reviews for his role in the movie which also stars Anurag Kashyap.## Talking about the response to the Vikramaditya Motwane directorial, Kapoor told IANS, "When people like your film and your performance, you feel good. So, I am glad that people liked the film".## AK Vs AK was one of the many films released directly on the OTT platform in 2020 as theaters were closed due to the covid-19 pandemic. And now, as the industry gradually opening up, Anil Kapoor is hopeful that people will throng to cinemas to watch movies. ## "There are few films that are made for the big screen only. There are a few films of mine that are going to be released this year, so I hope audiences watch those films in theatres. I am sure about that because people are eager to watch films in theatres. Jack Ma, Chinese billionaire, and Alibaba co-founder, who is rumored to have gone missing for the last two months, has been a massive source of financial support for Hollywood films for the last 5 years. Alibaba Pictures, which was set up by Jack Ma's e-commerce giant Alibaba, has given a marketing push to Chinese films as well as invested in films of that country. ## Apart from investing in Chinese films, Ma also stepped into Hollywood in 2015, and one of the most successful films his company has produced is the 2019 release war movie "1917". The Sam Mendes triple-Oscar winner that also has Reliance Entertainment and Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks Pictures as producers, made $368 million on a $95 million budget. ## Other than 1917, one of the biggest films in which Alibaba Pictures invested is also the 2015's Tom Cruise-starrer "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation". The film was made on a budget of around $150 million and earned a worldwide gross of almost $680 million.## After that in 2016, the company invested in two Paramount Pictures productions, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows" and "Star Trek Beyond". While the superhero film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows" led by Megan Fox grossed $245 million on a budget of around $135 million, the sci-fi adventure "Star Trek Beyond", was made on a budget of $185 million and minted around $340 million worldwide. ## In 2018, Alibaba Pictures produced Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible - Fallout". Andhadhun Director Sriram Raghavan To Make His OTT Debut Based On True Shocking Event

Director Sriram Raghavan, who is known for making films with hard-hitting themes such as Andhadhun, Badlapur, and others, is all set to make his digital debut with a series based on one of India's unforgettable and horrifying incidents that took place in 1999 in the forms of Hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814, commonly known as IC 814. (according to LetsOTT) ## The series will narrate the hijacking of the Indian Airlines Flight AC-814 by Pakistan based terrorist group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen in 1999. The incident forced India to release three Islamist terrorists in return for the safety of 176 passengers and crew of the flight before five masked terrorists fatally stabbed one and wounded several others. ## Raghavan and his team are said to have started researching the project and are talking to crew members and passengers who were on the flight for their source material. Raghavan is apparently planning to make it as a taut thriller and mount it next year. The OTT platform for the project is not decided yet. ## Talking about the incident, Indian Airlines Flight 814 was hijacked on December 24, 1999, when it was en route from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal to Delhi. The airbus was hijacked by five masked gunmen shortly after it entered the Indian airspace. The hijackers ordered the aircraft to be flown to a series of locations such as Amritsar, Lahore, and Dubai before they forced the aircraft to land in Kandahar, Afghanistan, which at the time was controlled by the Taliban. ## The Kandahar hijacking has been the subject of a few films in past. Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan starrer 2010 Malayalam film Kandahar, Nagarjuna's Gaganam, and Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu starrer Zameen (2003) were loosely based on this incident. ## Meanwhile, Sriram Raghavan was supposed to shoot for Ekkis with Varun Dhawan last year. However, the film could not go on floors because of the covid-19 pandemic. Tamil Nadu Government Permits 100 Percent Seating Capacity In Theaters Ahead Of Master Release

A few days ago, Tamil superstar, Vijay met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and reportedly urged him to allow 100% seating capacity in the theaters for his upcoming movie, Master. And now, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a notification granting permission for 100% occupancy in theaters/cinemas which is nothing short of the best present for the team 'Master'. ## Earlier theatres in every state of India were allowed to operate only with 50% occupancy considering the covid-19 pandemic. With this move, Tamil Nadu becomes the first state to allow 100% occupancy and pave the way for other states to allow cinemas to operate with full strength. ## In the notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, it read, "Based on the decrease in the COVID-19 cases day by day, the Theatres Owners Association have represented to the Government to increase the seating capacity of Cinemas/theatres/ Multiplexes". ## "Now, therefore the Government hereby permits to increase the seating capacity of Cinemas/ theatres/ Multiplexes from existing 50% to 100% by following the Standard Operating Procedure issued already", the notice further read.## The notification also states that precautionary measures for COVID-19 shall also be screened during the showtime in order to create awareness among the spectators. ## #TamilNadu government has allowed 100% seating capacity in theaters/cinemas/multiplexes ahead of #MasterFilm and #Eeswaran release by following SOPs... #VijayTheMaster Here is the official government order... pic.twitter.com/ZorPze749Q— Sacnilk Entertainment (@SacnilkEntmt) January 4, 2021 ## Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagraj will be the first major Indian film to hit the theatres post the reopening of cinemas.
