Ram Charan In Talks To Play Legendary Indian King Suheldev For Amish Tripathi's Legend of Suheldev's Feature Film Adaptation?

Mumbai, July 7 - Back in 2020, renowned author Amit Tripathi's best-seller "Suheldev – The King Who Saved India" was announced to be adapted into a feature film by Tripathi's Immortal Studios with Wakaoo Films, and Casa Media. ## The pre-production for the film and the script work had begun, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, makers had to push the movie indefinitely and since then there was no development on it. However, things are looking to be back on track and the makers have reportedly approached Ram Charan to play the legendary Indian King. ## According to IndiaToday.in, the makers are in talks with Charan, who is fresh from SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster "RRR". The modalities of the movie are currently being worked upon and if all goes well, Charan will be seen playing King Suheldev, who defeated the army of Ghazi Saiyyad Salar Maqsud in the Battle of Bahraich (present-day Uttar Pradesh). ## Earlier, there were reports saying the Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar would be playing the titular role, however, all the reports turned into rumors as there was no such development. Ram Charan could be the right choice for the role of Suheldev as he has previously played such roles in Rajamouli's "Magadheera", which was a huge hit and his performance was also praised. ## Meanwhile, Ram Charan is currently shooting for director Shankar's political thriller film, tentatively titled "RC15". Mumbai, July 7 - Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has been shooting for Karan Johar's "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" for quite some time now as the film, co-stars Alia Bhatt, is scheduled to release in February 2023. Before that, Ranveer will be headlining Rohit Shetty's comic caper "Cirkus", due on December 23, 2022, release. ## Ranveer, apart from the aforementioned films, will also be doing the Hindi remake of director Shankar's "Anniyan". However, the production has been delayed indefinitely due to Shankar's other commitments for "RC 15" and "Indian 2". Meanwhile, the actor has been discussing multiple films and one of them is "Shaktimaan". ## Sony Pictures India and actor-producer Mukesh Khanna had earlier announced the "Shaktimaan" trilogy. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the makers have approached Ranveer Singh to play this iconic Indian superhero in the big-screen adaptation of Shaktimaan and he has shown his interest in doing it.## The report states that while Ranveer is excited to explore the superhero space, he hasn't signed on the dotted lines to come officially on board the movie as "he is waiting to get a final narration, as well as an update on who the director of the film is". Mukesh Khanna recently revealed that they are in touch with a top Indian director to helm the movie and an announcement for the same will be made soon. ## Meanwhile, Ranveer will be starring in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's passion project, "Baiju Bawra", in which he will be paired with Alia Bhatt again. The movie will reunite Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan to reprise their roles from the original movie and they will be seen doing double roles. ## According to the latest reports, the movie, tentatively titled "No Entry Mein Entry", will start shooting in January 2023 with an eye on a release later in the same year. Indian Box Office In The First Half of 2022 Sees Highest Revenue In 5 Years

Mumbai, July 7 - The Indian box office is thriving to new heights in 2022 after being bettered by the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The first half of 2022 has reached and even surpassed the pre-covid levels, thanks to the mega-blockbusters RRR, and KGF: Chapter 2 along with Vikram, among others. ## In the first half of 2022 (January - June), films in India have collected over Rs 5,550 crore at the box office, up from Rs 4,715 crore in 2018, according to Gautam Jain, partner, Ormax Media, a media consulting firm (via Money Control). ## According to Gautam Jain, the first six months of 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels have been the highest ever, driven by the contribution from RRR and KGF 2. Indian box office collections in the first six months of 2019 had reached Rs 5,153 crore but dropped significantly in 2020 and 2021 due to the closure of cinemas. ## "Big-scale spectacles are getting audiences back to theatres. Also, franchises, especially big star-cast-led films, will become a necessity for filmmakers across languages. The creation of the universe of characters would take precedence over standalone films", Jain said, as per the report. ## Interestingly, nearly 35% of total domestic gross revenue has been generated by two films - RRR and KGF 2 - which grossed approx. 1910 crores combined. KGF 2 is currently the biggest Indian grosser of the year followed by RRR, and both the movies also helped in taking the contribution of films from the south to 50 percent of the overall revenue pie. ## According to Jain, in the first six months of 2022, the Hindi film industry recorded a share of 34 percent, Telugu 26 percent, and Tamil 16 percent. The top three industries in terms of box office contribution were followed by Kannada with 8 percent and Hollywood with 7 percent share. ## The Hindi language, even though has contributed 35% to total domestic revenue, it is still behind the 44% in the pre-pandemic year (2019), however, up from 27 percent in the two pandemic years put together (2020-21). There is also to be noted that 43% of the total Hindi collection is from the dubbed Hindi versions of South Indian films, mainly from RRR and KGF 2. ## It is understood that the second half of 2022 will belong to the Hindi film industry with films like Shamshera, Raksha Bandhan, Brahasmtra, Laal Singh Chaddha, Vikram Vedha, and Cirkus, among others. Los Angeles, July 7 - Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder, is all set to help deliver big at the worldwide box office, despite being rated one of the lowest Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks of all time by critics. ## The second MCU feature release of 2022 is currently tracking to debut with over $300 million at the worldwide box office. At the domestic (North America) box office, the superhero flick is projected to deliver over $100 million in its opening weekend, which will be the first time during the covid-19 pandemic when two back-to-back domestic weekends will see $100 million-plus openers after "Minions: The Rise of Gru". ## Directed by Taika Waititi, "Thor 4", according to box office pro is looking to earn between $135M-$165M in its opening domestic weekend. The opening weekend projection of the film is tracking ahead of its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok", which debuted with $122.7 million in November 2017. ## The box office projection of the 4th Thor installment is closer to the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($146.5 million in May 2017) and Captain Marvel ($153.4 million in March 2019). There is a real chance that "Thor 4" may beat both of these movies and take one of the biggest Marvel openings ever. ## There is a possibility that critics' reviews might impact those projections in the final hours before release. However, as seen in the past, Marvel movies have always been audience-friendly and overcome those reviews more often than not, and have delivered at the box office. "Thor 4" is unlikely to get affected by critics' score which is 70% from 179 reviews at the time of writing on Rotten Tomatoes. ## The movie stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor. Portman is making her comeback after missing out on the previous two Thor movies. Mumbai, July 6 - Duffer Brothers, the creators of Netflix's global smash hit Stranger Things have formed Upside Down Pictures and signed a deal with Netflix for several new projects. ## Duffer Brothers are already committed to developing the final season of "Stranger Things" for which, they will start writing in September this year with shooting taking place next year for the 2024 premiere. The final season of Netflix's most-watched show will see the epic good vs evil battle between Eleven and Vecna. ## Meanwhile, Matt and Ross Duffer have unveiled plans for a spinoff series of their blockbuster hit for the streamer. The project, details of which are being kept under wraps for now, is but one of five projects the siblings have unveiled as part of their nine-figure overall deal for Netflix. ## The live-action Stranger Things spinoff is based on an original idea by Duffer Brothers. Upside Down will produce the series alongside Shawn Levy's 21 Laps. Mumbai, July 6 - Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder is all set to hammer at the Indian box office from this Thursday. The movie, directed by Taika Waititi, is releasing a day earlier in India than the North American release, on July 7. It will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. ## Marvel has always been a huge movie brand in India, and in the recent past, the studios' films have taken huge openings at the Indian box office. "Thor: Love and Thunder" is also tracking to open big as the advance booking response has been very good so far. Till 5 PM on July 6, the advance booking gross collection of Thor 4 is 11 crores, which is expected to reach 15-16 crores by the end of the day. ## The 4th installment in the Thor franchise, however, is getting a slow response as compared to the previous Marvel movie, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness", which was released a couple in May this year. At the same, "Doctor Strange 2" advance booking was around 20 crores gross while the opening day collection was 36.30 crores gross for all languages. ## Looking at the advance booking of "Thor 4" so far, the movie is still very much on track to open around 20-22 crores net with a possibility of reaching 25 crores net if critics' reviews and word of mouth are positive. The Anubhav Sinha-directed film was made available on Netflix on June 26 after a disappointing box office run. ## "Anek" scored 4.9 million hours watched in the week (June 27 - July 3), and was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide. It was also trending in the top 10 in 14 countries, including number 1 in India and Bangladesh. ## Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 continued to remain in the top 10 most-watched non-English films worldwide for the 3rd consecutive week. It scored 3.69 million viewing hours last week and was the second most-watched Indian title and 3rd overall on Netflix. BB2 has overall scored 20.1 million watched hours in 17 days. ## On the other hand, SS Rajamouli's epic box office blockbuster is still grabbing attention on the streamer and remained in the top 10 for the 7th consecutive week. In its 7th week on Netflix, it generated 3.5 million viewing hours, which is higher than its 6th week viewing hours of 2.92 million. Mumbai, July 6 - Netflix has its second billion hours watched show as Stranger Things 4 has surpassed this rare milestone after the final two episodes.## The final two episodes dropped on July 1st as a part of Volume 2 of "Stranger Things 4" helped the show to pull in another 301.2 million viewing hours last week, including approx. 220 million watched hours of episodes 8 & 9. The total watched hours of this sci-fi horror drama series has now reached 1.15 billion. ## "Stranger Things 4" is the most-watched only show on Netflix and the second most for any language. It is also only the second show ever to cross 1 billion viewing hours on Netflix, after Korean global hit "Squid Game", which clocked 1.6 billion watched hours in its first 28 days. ## The Duffer Brothers-created series was the most-watched show for the week (June 27 - July 3) and it is only expected to rise over the next three and a half weeks. However, "Squid Game's" record is looking like a far cry as "Stranger Things 4" is unlikely to reach that target. ## The season finale of ST4 is one of the most intense episodes yet of the series. It ended on an emotional note, leaving enough scope for the final season of the series to go bang bang. Duffer Brothers recently revealed in an interview that they will start writing the final season in September this year.
