Tokyo, January 19 - SS Rajamouli's period action drama RRR is continuing with its historic run and turns a blockbuster at the Japan box office.## Starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, "RRR" has completed 94 days in Japanese cinemas, grossing ¥650 million or 40.65 crores so far. Over the last few days, the collection in the anime country has jumped, thanks to the film's win at Golden Globe and its release in Dolby cinema and increase in IMAX screens. ## The Oscars nominations, which are scheduled to take place on January 24th, could give a further boost to the "RRR" collection in Japan. The movie is expected to score a couple of nominations at Oscars 2023.## Produced by DVV Entertainment, "RRR" has so far scored 417K admissions in as many days. It is the biggest Indian film, both in terms of gross collection and footfalls in Japan. It will now hit in Dolby Cinema format across the country from January 20. Pathaan Advance Booking Jets Off To Supersonic Start In India

Mumbai, January 18 - Yash Raj Films has opened the advance booking of its highly-anticipated spy action thriller Pathaan on limited screens in IMAX, 4DX, and 2D formats. ## The full-fledged advance booking of this Shah Rukh Khan-fronted will kickstart from January 20, but ahead of that, the response to limited pre-sales is terrific, to say the least. The same is being seen overseas where advances opened 15 days before the release.## The advance booking post the covid-19 pandemic hasn't really created much interest within the Bollywood industry except for "Brahmastra" but here, "Pathaan" has given an early indication of what's coming. The total advance booking gross collection of the movie is nearing 10 crores in all formats.## The premium formats were witnessing higher pre-sales in early numbers with 4DX shows and IMAX shows being fast-filling, but now, the 2D format is also having good pre-sales. The booking in 2D format is starting gradually and it is expected to create havoc by tomorrow if the same momentum goes on. The movie has already sold over 1 lakh tickets in three national chains (INOX, PVR, and Cinepolis) in just 15 hours.## The iconic Prasads Multiplex in Hyderabad was the first to open the booking and within two hours, it sold over 1800 tickets. Currently, there are 14 shows in Prasads and all are in fas-filling mode. The buzz around the movie is sky-high and it should beat the advances of "Brahmastra" easily.## The audience's word of mouth has become the most important thing for a movie to succeed but "Pathaan" seems to be one of those movies that will do well irrespective of reviews unless those are not worst. It has grossed $572 million domestically (North America) and $1.35 billion internationally, for a global cume of $1.916 billion through 5th Monday. ## The Disney-backed tentpole will be hitting $2 billion worldwide by the 6th Sunday and will become only the 6th film ever to achieve the feat. Chennai, January 18 - Thalapathy Vijay's family entertainer Varisu has crossed 200 crores at the global box office, becoming the first Indian movie of 2023 to enter the box office club.## Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, "Varisu" has emerged as the first choice of the family audience on this Pongal festival. The film took just 7 days to reach the box office milestone, thanks to superlative performance domestically as well as overseas. ## "Varisu" has grossed approx. 210 crores, including approx. 140 crores in India in all languages and approx. 70 crores overseas. Beijing, January 17 - After more than 3 years, Marvel Studios secure its first release in China as it confirmed release dates of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. ## Director Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther 2", which was released last year globally, will be hitting Chinese theaters on February 17, followed by "Ant-Man 3" on February 17, 2023, day and date with North America release.## Due to the de facto ban on Marvel Movies, the studio was not able to get its movie released in Mainland China, costing Marvel/Disney hundreds of millions in potential ticket revenue. The last approved theatrical releases from the studio were "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and "Avengers: Endgame", way back in early/mid-2019. ## The news about the China release dates of the aforementioned films was shared by Marvel on Tuesday over its official Chinese social media accounts, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Hyderabad, January 17 - The new year of 2023 has kickstarted on a blockbuster note for the Indian film industry, led by South Indian films. Amid the uncertainty of the box office future due to heavy clashes, all four top releases - Varisu, Thunivu, Waltair Veerayya, and Veera Simha Reddy, this Pongal/Sankranthi festival have delivered big to step up the stage for upcoming films. ## Among the aforementioned films, Megastar Chiranjeevi's "Waltair Veerayya", and Nandamuri Balakrishna's "Veera Simha Reddy" have been produced by Mythri Movie Makers, one of the leading Telugu production houses. The studio was under extreme pressure before the release but after the opening weekend, it is having celebrations with the kind of response its films have got from the audiences. ## Both Mythri's films have crossed the 100 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office and are likely to achieve the break-even mark in the opening week itself. "Veera Simha Reddy" was released on January 12 while "Waltair Veerayya" hit screens a day later. While both films have performed exceptionally well it is the Chiranjeevi-starrer action drama that emerged as a bigger hit. ## Directed by Bobby, "Waltair Veerayya" has grossed approx. 121 crores worldwide in just 4 days, becoming the biggest grosser for Chiranjeevi since "Sye Ra Narshima Reddy" (2019). The break-even target for the film is around 90 crores and it will reach there in the next couple of days and turn into a profitable venture for the investors. ## "Veera Simha Reddy", on the other hand, is directed by Gopichand Melineni and has also crossed the 100 crores gross mark in 6 days worldwide and becomes only the second film for NBK to achieve the feat. It is all set to become the biggest grosser for the veteran actor, surpassing "Akhanda" which grossed around 120 crores worldwide in 2021. ## Ahead of the release, the Chiranjeevi-starrer was having low advance booking as compared to "Veera Simha Reddy" and the opening was also lower than the NBK-fronted film, however, after the opening day of each, "Waltair Veerayya" started its dominance over other films at the Telugu box office. It will be Chiranjeevi's first clean hit since "Khaidi No. 150" (2017). ## Mythri Movie Makers, meanwhile, after hitting jackpot with two blockbusters, has a blockbuster line-up ahead.
