Box Office: Big Second Day For Vijay Sethupathi's 'Maharaja' In China

Chennai, November 30 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja is having a fantastic time at the Chinese box office and has crossed 20 crore gross mark in just 2 days (including premieres) and is heading towards a very good opening weekend collection. ## After grossing $633K+ (5.40 crores gross) in the premieres, followed by $550K (4.60 crores gross) on the first day, the Nithilan Saminathan's directorial venture breached the million dollar mark on Saturday (2nd day), thanks the positive word of mouth there. ## According to the local box office platform ENT Group, Maharaja has grossed approximately $1.10 million (9.30 crores gross) on its second day, pushing the total collection to around $2.30 million (19.50 crores gross) at the Chinese box office in 2 days. It has crossed the 20 crore mark including pre-sales for tomorrow.## The film sold over 200K tickets on Saturday and the total admissions so far are 420K+ which is the highest for an Indian title there post the Covid-19 pandemic. The opening weekend collection is probably heading for 30+ crores which is fantastic. ## The worldwide collection of Maharaja is now approximately 126 crores gross, including the Chinese collection and it will be breaching the 150 crores mark soon which is a big achievement. Vijay Sethupathi's 'Maharaja' Tops 10 Crore Gross After Good First Day At The China Box Office

Chennai, November 29 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has a $500K+ opening day as total collection crossed $1 million (including premieres) at the China box office. This is the first Indian movie in recent times to cross this particular milestone in China. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja minted approximately 5.40 crores gross ($635K or ¥4.6 million) in the premieres. It had a full-fledged release on November 29 and the film grossed $550K+ (4.65 crores gross) on its first day, according to the local box office website, ENT Group. ## The total collection of Maharaja is $1.18 million (10 crores gross). The advances for tomorrow (Saturday) are good which should lead to another good day. The movie also touched 100K admissions on the first day with total footfalls are around 220K so far. ## Including the China collection, Maharaja has crossed 116 crores gross worldwide and depending on how films perform in the coming day there, the movie has a chance to achieve new milestones. The teaser, which has no dialogue, looks stylish with action-packed visuals. ## Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, Vidaamuyarchi surprisingly has been confirmed for Pongal 2025 release though the exact date is yet to be revealed. Hyderabad, November 28 - Superstar Allu Arjun-fronted action drama Pushpa 2 - The Rule has been censored with a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a few minor edits in the dialogue and some replacements.## Directed by Sukumar, the film's official runtime is 200 minutes (3 hours and 20 minutes), making it one of the longest Indian films and easily the longest of the year. The theatrical runtime of the film is close to Ranbir Kapoor's Animal which was 3 hours and 21 minutes long and went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters at the box office. ## As said, the CBFC has asked the makers to make some changes or replace certain words to comply with the U/A certificate. It is revealed in the certificate that the word "r**ndi" has been replaced with Lapaki while a couple of violent scenes have also been modified. ## The censor reports are said to be highly positive which has increased the excitement among the audience further. Mumbai, November 27 - Vicky Kaushal's historical action drama Chhaava has been postponed to February 2025. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, was supposed to hit the big screen on December 6 and was to clash with Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule before Maddock Films decided to shift the release. ## Produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, Chhaava will now be released on February 14. The release date holds special significance since it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on 19 February. The movie is an adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant and is based on the life of Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, played by Vicky Kaushal.## Chhaava also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb along with others in key roles.## Meanwhile, the postponement of Chhaava to February 14, 2025, means Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde's action thriller Deva has been moved up by a couple of weeks. The total advance booking gross (for all days) in NA has crossed $2 million which is said to be the fastest for an Indian title with a week still to go for the release. ## Apart from North America, Pushpa 2 has scored $230K+ advance sales in the UK for the opening day while Gulf booking is around $80K+ and Australia and other market sales are $215K+ so far. The total overseas pre-sales for the film are around $2.30+ million (19.50 crores) for the first day. ## The trade is expecting 50+ crores opening for Pushpa 2 which will be the biggest for a Allu Arjun-starrer. The buzz for this Sukumar's directorial is at an all-time high and the stage is set to make the most of it. ## Scheduled to be released on December 5, the pre-sales of Pushpa 2 is expected to open on November 30, Saturday which is 5 days before the release in India. After Barbenheimer Phenomena, Glicked Strikes At The Box Office

Los Angeles, November 26—Last year, the Barbenheimer (Barbie and Oppenheimer) phenomenon stormed the box office from its record-breaking start to its historic finish. Both movies collectively grossed over $2.4 billion worldwide and were two of the year's highest-grossing films, with Barbie finishing at the top with $1.44 billion. ## More than a year later, another box office clash called Glicked (Gladiator II and Wicked) is making waves. It is not exactly as big as Barbenheimer but powerful enough to keep the trade excited going forward where Wicked is behaving like Barbie while Gladiator II can be the Oppenheimer. ## The Ridley Scott's directorial R-rated epic historical action drama, Gladiator 2 has already surpassed $200 million globally after debuting internationally on November 13. Through Sunday (November 24), G2 has made $165.5 million at the overseas box office while it debuted domestically (North America) on November 22 and grossed $55 million in the opening weekend for a worldwide cume of $220 million. ## Wicked, which is a musical fantasy film starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, had a strong debut domestically with a huge $112.5 million opening weekend.
