Director Atlee To Bring Superstars Rajinikanth and Salman Khan For A 2-Hero Action Entertainer: Report

Mumbai, June 24 - Tamil director Atlee Kumar is looking to finalize his next film after delivering a massive blockbuster in the form of superstar Shah Rukh Khan-fronted Jawan last year. The filmmaker was supposed to follow with a film with Allu Arjun but he has reportedly backed out. ## After Allu Arjun pulled out of the film, Atlee reportedly approached superstar Salman Khan for his next which is said to be a 2-hero action entertainer. Now, according to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker has approached megastar Rajinikanth to headline the film with Salman. ## It is said that the formal meeting of Atlee, Rajinikanth, and Salman Khan will happen next month and things are expected to turn out positive. "Sun Pictures will be producing the film and they share a family-like bond with superstar Rajinikanth. Atlee on the other hand has been in touch with Salman Khan for the last two years. They are confident to get both Rajinikanth and Salman Khan on board", says the report. ## If this once-in-a-generation collaboration gets finalised, the makers are aiming to take the movie on floors by the end of this year. Mumbai, June 21 - Director Imtiaz Ali's musical romantic drama Rockstar is considered one of the finest films of Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor. Released in 2011, Rockstar won several national and international awards but was deemed average at the box office with a worldwide gross collection of around 110 crores. ## Rockstar gained popularity over the years and it has been more than a month since it was re-released in theatres and is safe to say that the movie has become a force at the box office on the limited showcasing which kept increasing week after week due to demand. ## The movie was re-released on over just 8 shows but due to high demand, it is currently playing on over 400+ shows daily. In 35 days, Rockstar has grossed approximately 7.50 crores (6.50 crores net) with a total of 9000+ shows played so far. The collection of the movie kept increasing with every passing week. ## The 5th-week collection of Rockstar re-release is approximately 2.65 crores gross (2.25 crores net) which is almost 3x of the original 5th-week run. The first-week collection of the movie is lower than the 2 weeks old horror-comedy Munjya's opening week collection which pretty much tells the story. ## Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion opened to positive reviews and word of mouth but things didn't go the way makers would have hoped for after receiving rave reviews, and as a result, it performed below the expectations. ## Post the COVID-19 pandemic, Chandu Champion has had the second lowest first-week scorer for Kartik Aaryan, ahead of just Shehzada which minted approximately 27.35 crores net first-week and 32 crores lifetime collection. Mumbai, June 21 - Director Aditya Sarpotdar's horror-comedy Munjya has become the second highest-grossing film in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, behind only Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree. ## The fourth film in the horror-comedy universe, Munjya has scored approximately 68 crores net collection in 2 weeks (14 days) and it will be crossing Bhediya (69 crores net) today to become the second biggest grosser in the series. Stree is currently on top with approximately 130 crores net. ## Munjya has had an excellent hold in the second week, dropping just 7.50% from the first week for approximately 32.65 crores net, despite the release of Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion which is a much bigger movie in terms of scale, budget and star power and also with positive reviews and word of mouth. ## The Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh-starrer are expected to remain strong in its third week in the absence of notable releases. Mumbai, June 19 - Director Rajesh A Krishnan's Crew has become the most-watched Indian film of 2024 on Netflix, surpassing the total reported viewership of Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapataa Ladies in just 24 days. ## The heist comedy, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, Crew added 1.2 million views from June 10 - June 16, taking its total views to 17.9 million in 24 days. Laapataa Ladies had scored 17.1 million views during its stay in the top 10 on Netflix and is now the second most-watched Indian title of the year. ## Crew premiered on Netflix on May 24 after completing 8 weeks of the theatrical run with over 150 crores in gross collection at the worldwide box office. On its Netflix premiere, the movie scored 5.4 million views in the opening weekend, followed by 8.9 million views in the first full week, and 2.4 million in the next week. ## Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, a box office disaster, scored 8 million views in the first 10 days on Netflix. The project was almost finalized and was supposed to go on floors by the end of this year, but now, there is a disappointing update on the same. ## According to the report by Telugu 360, Allu Arjun's film with Atlee has been shelved after the director's huge remuneration demand which shocked the producers. However, another report claimed that the project fell through simply because it did not align with the actor and director's preferences. ## After Allu Arjun dropped the movie, Atlee is believed to have approached Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to headline and Telugu 360 reported that the superstar has given his nod and the movie will be announced soon. Mumbai, June 16 - Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion scores another much-needed growth on its first Sunday to take the opening weekend past 20 crores net mark which can be seen as some sort of recovery after the slow start, however, the overall collection still below expectations. ## After scoring a jump close to 50% on Saturday, the biographical sports drama witnesses another around 40% jump on Sunday for an estimated 9.75-10.25 crores net, pushing opening weekend to around 21.75 crores. There is a holiday tomorrow due to Bakrid so a hold is expected. ## The positive word of mouth has helped Chandu Champion to recover its lost ground to some extent, however, the movie still needs to perform very well beyond the weekend. Mumbai, June 15 - After the low start, Kartik Aaryan-fronted Chandu Champion shows a much-needed growth of around 40% on its second day which is a good recovery but the overall collection is still not big enough to cover the lost ground. ## Kabir Khan's directorial benefits from positive word-of-mouth as it collects around 6.50-7 crores net on its first Saturday, as per early estimates. Ideally, this should have been the opening day figure to set the tone for a good opening weekend but that is not the case. ## Chandu Champion's total collection after 2 days is around 11.50 crores. It can still manage to score a decent weekend if it can see a similar or better jump on Sunday which is very much possible given Monday is a holiday. The 3-day opening weekend is heading for 19-20+ crores while the extended weekend could be around 25+ crores. ## The positive word of mouth is clearly showing its effect but the real test for the movie will begin after Monday Bakrid holiday. There have been reports that the movie will be released on Republic Day 2026 and now, the makers have officially confirmed the same. ## It has been revealed that India's biggest war movie will be released on January 23 (Friday), 2026, during the Republic Day weekend.
