Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha To Star In Akshay Kumar's 'Ram Setu'

Last year on the occasion of Diwali, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar announced his next film titled "Ram Setu". Without revealing further details about the rest of the cast, the actor shared the first look of the film that will be directed by Abhishek Sharma and presented by Akshay's production house, Cape Of Good Films, while Aruna Bhatia and Vikram Malhotra will produce it. ## Now, as the movie is expected to go on floors soon, Akshay Kumar has started preparation of the film and also revealed that Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha will be the two leading actresses in the film. Farhan Akhtar's Sports Drama 'Toofan' To Skip Theatrical Release

Just when the Bollywood film industry started getting back to its feet, the sudden rise in the covid-19 cases in Maharashtra has raised the eyebrows of the filmmakers again. With vaccination started, dozens of films have been announced for a theatrical release in the packed summer. However, there are still some filmmakers who are not looking sure for a theatrical release and opting for a direct-to-digital release of their films. ## Recently, Netflix India announced its slate of 2021 releases which includes some of the new Hindi movies. Kartik Aryan's Dhamaka, Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, and Harshvardhan Rane starrer Haseen Dilruba, and Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh's Sardar Ka Grandson were recently announced for Netflix premiere. ## Now, one of the most-awaited films, Toofan starring Farhaan Akhtar has also opted for direct-to-digital release. The sports drama will skip the theatrical release and will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video on 21st May this year. G. Prabha To Release Second Sanskrit Movie After His Award-Winning Film 'Ishti'

Dr. G. Prabha, a retired professor and head of the department of Sanskrit at Loyola College in Chennai, is going to come out with his second Sanskrit movie 'Taya' after his award-winning Sanskrit film 'Ishti'. Ishti was the opening movie at the International Film Festival of India in Goa in 2016 and had won global acclaim at the Pyongyang film festival in South Korea. ## The second film, Taya, is a women-centric film based on a woman from the Brahmin clan taking revenge against a group of Brahmin men who had exploited her friend. Taya is a Sanskrit word meaning 'By Her' in English and the director is also scripting the movie which is a low-budget film produced by Tamil Nadu-based producer Gokulam Gopalan.## Taya has a strong cast including national award winner Nedumudi Venu and Anumol, with Sunny Joseph as the cinematographer.## "The movie is women-centric and brings out the trauma of the Nambudiri women of Kerala in the early 19th century. In this movie, we are trying to narrate the story of a Nambudiri girl who was exploited by several Nambudiri men and was killed when she was to spill the beans. Her friend, Savitri, takes up the issue and threatens all those who had exploited her friend of taking them before the authorities", Prabha told IANS. ## The crew is expected to wind up the shoot by March 25 and complete all the other formalities by the end of April. Varun Sharma said that going inside a theatre after a year was a special moment for him. ## Varun entered a theatre for promotional activity around his upcoming film "Roohi", along with the film's team in the Capital on Thursday. He took to Instagram and posted a picture in which he is seen bowing down in the theatre as a mark of respect. He also penned a long note along with the picture. ## "For us, Actors, cinema halls, and multiplexes are nothing short of a shrine. A year back, when the on-going pandemic hit us hard and theatres had to stay shut, the entire cinema industry incurred massive losses. But more importantly, it took an emotional toll on us. Today after one year I visited the Theatre and I feel so much Gratitude in my Heart❤️", he wrote. ## "I grew up in a middle-class family in Jalandhar. I knew no one in showbiz. The Income Tax Department on Wednesday carried out searches at over 30 locations in Mumbai and Pune, including the premises of film director Anurag Kashyap, actress Taapsee Pannu, filmmaker Vikas Bahl, and Madhu Mantena. Now, the IT Department has issued an official statement on the raids they carried out in Mumbai at different properties and claims crores hidden. ## The statement read, "The Income Tax Department is carrying out search and survey operations which started on 03.03.2021 on two leading film production companies, a leading actress and two Talent Management companies in Mumbai. Search operation is being carried out at Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Hyderabad. The group is mainly engaged in the business of Production of Motion Pictures, Web Series, acting, direction, and talent Management of celebrities and other artists. A total of 28 premises are being covered in different locations which include residences and offices".## "During the search, evidence of huge suppression of income by the leading Film Production house compared to the actual box office collections has been unearthed. The company officials have not been able to explain the discrepancy of around Rs. 300 crore".## "Evidence related to manipulation and under-valuation of share transactions of the production house amongst the film directors and shareholders, having tax implication of about Rs. 350 crore has been found and is being further investigated".## "Evidence of cash receipts by the leading actress amounting to Rs 5 crore has been recovered. Further investigation is going on", the statement further read. ## The statement also said that the team has seized a huge amount of digital data in the form of emails, Whatsapp chats, hard disks, etc which are under investigation. "Apart from this, non-genuine/bogus expenditure to related concerns by the leading producers/director having tax implication of about Rs. 20 crore has been detected. Similar findings have been made in the case of the leading actress also".## At the office premises of the two talent management companies, a huge amount of digital data has been seized in the form of emails, WhatsApp chats, hard disks, etc which are under investigation. Things have diversified so much, so I am just looking for diversity and variety in my work", Pranitha told IANS.## Apart from doing films in different languages, Pranitha Subhash also actively doing social work through her NGO established in Bangalore. She was recently awarded under Times 40 Under 40 list for her contribution as a social entrepreneur. Recalling Sushant, Bhumi said that he was a rare mind in Bollywood. ## "Sushant became a friend and someone I admired very fast. He was a true blue gem of a person and an actor with a restless mind. We really had the best time on set. His rare mind with brilliant ideas kept me very intrigued through our Sonchiriya experience", Bhumi said according to Sify.## "I got to meet and work with a creative mind like Sushant Singh Rajput due to the film. I had the best time exchanging notes with him", she added.## "Sonchiriya' gave me the chance to work with a brilliant cast and people I admired deeply. It's an experience I'll deeply cherish more because of the collaboration I had with Sushant and Khushiya, the little girl who played Sonchiriya. Khushiya has become a part of my life forever", she recalled working on Sonchiriya.## Sonchiriya couldn't make big numbers at the box office but it was critically admired. Bhumi said that this will always be a special film in her filmography because it taught her to take bigger risks as an artist with every film. She also thanked director Abhishek Chaubey for showing faith in her to perform the tough role of Indumati Tomar. ## "A film like Sonchiriya is rare, it comes maybe once in a lifetime for an artist and I'm fortunate that I got to do this project. I saw what Manya Surve (his character in Shootout At Wadala) did for me and Sanjay (Gupta). It's a gangster film and we are showing what has happened in reality".## The trailer of Mumbai Saga was released on Friday (February 26) and it shows how violence ruled Bombay in the 80s and 90s. John portrays a gangster who aspires to rule Bombay while Emraan Hashmi is cast as a cop who wants to kill John and win prize money of Rs 10 crore. The Sanjay Gupta directorial has an ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Babbar, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, and Gulshan Grover. ## John Abraham will also be starring in an action thriller film, Attack, directed and co-written by Lakshya Raj Anand. Co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez, and Rakul Preet Singh, John will be seen doing action once again in this film but he said it will be completely different and futuristic action.
