Aditya Chopra Launches Yash Chopra Saathi Initiative To Support Daily Wage Earners Of Film Industry

Mumbai, May 7, 2021: In the time of a devastating second wave of the covid-19 which has brought the nation to its knees, Aditya Chopra, Chairman, and MD of leading Bollywood production house Yash Raj Films has come to the rescue of the people of the entertainment industry.
To support the daily wage earners of the film industry, Aditya Chopra has launched the "Yash Chopra Foundation's Saathi Initiative", which will provide financial support to thousands of film industry workers whose livelihood at risk due to the pandemic.
As part of the initiative, the Yash Raj foundation will oversee "direct benefit transfers" of Rs 5000 (equivalent to $68) to women and senior citizens in the industry as well as distribute "ration kits" to workers for a family of four for one month through their NGO partners Youth Feed India.
The support can be applied through a website - Yash Chopra Foundation's Saathi Initiative set up for applications.
Earlier this week, Yash Raj Films made a request to CM of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray to give them permission to purchase the vaccine, and the cost of it will be handled by Yash Raj Foundation. In the letter, the production house has mentioned that the Hindi film industry has suffered a lot amidst the pandemic and it is necessary to start it at the earliest so that 'thousands of workers can start earning their livelihood again'.
Later, FWICE wrote a letter to the CM requesting him to consider YRF's request. Talking about the urgency of the members of the film industry getting vaccinated, the letter mentioned, "Vaccination is very important not only to fight the disease but also to fight against the dropping economy of the state". The organization also requested the CM to provide all the necessary approval for the vaccination of its 30,000 artists, technicians, and workers.
