Oscars 2021: AMPAS Pay Tribute To Late Irrfan Khan, And Bhanu Athaiya

Los Angeles, April 26, 2021: The 93rd Academy Awards were announced on Monday morning (as per IST), to honor the best films of 2020 and early 2021. It was the first time Oscars was held virtually and in person due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It took place in Los Angeles - at both Union Station and the Dolby Theatre. ## Apart from honoring the top films, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) also paid tribute to the artists across industries of the world. Irrfan Khan and Bhanu Athaiya were the Indian film personalities honored in the "In Memoriam" along with Hollywood personalities, Sean Connery and Chadwick Boseman. ## Oscar nominee Angela Bassett gave a speech with the tribute, which was shown in the form of a video clip and was a homage to achievers the world of screen lost over the past year, including actors, writers, directors, and technicians.## Irrfan, who passed away last year in Mumbai at the age of 53 after a two-year battle with a neuroendocrine tumor, earned global recognition for his work in projects such as "The Warrior", "The Namesake", "Slumdog Millionaire", "The Amazing Spider-Man", "Life Of Pi", "Jurassic World" and "Inferno".## Costume designer Bhanu Athaiya became the first Indian to win an Oscar, for her work in Sir Richard Attenborough's "Gandhi" in 1982. She won the Oscar jointly with John Mollo. Athaiya was 91 when she passed away at her residence in Mumbai after a prolonged illness last year on October 16. DSP Recreated 'Seeti Maar' Song To Suit Salman Khan's Image

Mumbai, April 25, 2021: Famous music composer, Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), who is popularly known for working in Telugu cinema, has reunited with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the upcoming movie Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. ## After "Dhinka Chika" song from the film "Ready", DSP has now composed "Seeti Maar" song for the superstar. The song, which is a dance number, will be out on Monday (April 26). The music composer has recreated the song which was originally composed for Allu Arjun starrer "Duvvada Jagannadham" in 2017. ## Talking about the recreated version, he says that it has been done keeping in mind the image that Salman enjoys in Bollywood. "I have recreated the entire song to suit Salman's image whilst retaining its soul. He called me and shared his feedback on how the song sounds terrific", DSP said. ## The composer hopes that the song is appreciated by the audience as well. "We hope that the audiences enjoy the number as much as we enjoyed making it. It is a fun song that will keep you grooving", he added. ## Seetimaar is the first single releasing from Radhe which also stars Disha Patani. Mumbai, April 25, 2021: Akshay Kumar and debutante Manushi Chhillar starrer upcoming historical action drama film, Prithviraj is based on the epic poem about the life of the 12th-century Indian king Prithviraj Chauhan, Prithviraj Raso by Chand Bardai. ## The keenly awaited film is being directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi who is known for adapting movies from path-breaking books like, Pinjar (2003), Mohalla Assi (2018). He has also directed the popular historical drama show, Chanakya in which he played the title role of Chanakya. ## Now, after creating magic with his cinematic vision, Chandraprakash Dwivedi recently revealed that the epic Prithviraj Raso is the inspiration behind Prithviraj. Revealing details about the movie, he said, "Prithviraj is also based mainly on medieval literature, an epic called Prithviraj Raso by the great poet Chand Bardai. Apart from a couple of versions of Raso, there are many other literary works on Prithviraj, his life, and times. In addition to these, there are commentaries on Raso".## Dwivedi said that for Prithviraj he had to deep dive into exhaustive research on the warrior king. He shared, "I get involved in exhaustive research as I enjoy the process of entering the unknown and unexplored world of great heroes of India and their times. It is like having a dialogue with these great characters in their times. I am sure most of the writers must have experienced this strange phenomenon".## "Apart from the story, I love to research art, archaeology, costumes, material culture, and available historical data. In other words, I love to do archaeological exploration and excavation in the pages of a literary work or historical fiction to recreate the era and personalities of its time. This gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction as an artist who loves to paint cinema's canvas with lights and camera", he added. ## The director also said that he chooses characters that are extremely relevant in today's time, and Prithviraj is that kind of film which is not only relevant to the young viewers but also for everyone of all time. He concluded by saying the characters like Prithviraj are shining bright stars in the galaxy which will inspire many generations to come. ## Prithviraj is the film, Dr. Dwivedi wanted to make for a long time. He had completed scriptwriting in 2010, and his first choice for Prithviraj's role was Sunny Deol, with Aishwarya Rai as Sanyogita. However, due to date issues with Sunny and no backing from the production house, the movie was almost shelved before Yash Raj Films came on board in 2018 and revived this once-in-a-lifetime project. ## The movie was officially launched in 2019, with Akshay confirmed to star as Prithviraj while Manushi replaced Rai as Prithviraj's love interest and wife, Sanyogita. After defeating covid-19 within a week, the actor is back to his social duty and arranged an air ambulance for a 25-year old girl, from Nagpur to Hyderabad, to get the special treatment done on Friday. ## A girl, who had lost almost 85-90 percent of her lungs due to COVID, with Sonu's help had been shifted to Wockhardt hospital, Nagpur for her treatment. The doctors had said that she needed a lung transplant or some special treatment which was only possible in Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad.## Speaking about the same, Sonu said, "Doctors had said that the chances are 20 percent and asked me whether I still wanted to go ahead with it. I said 'Of course. She is a 25-year-old young girl and she will fight the battle hard and she will come out of it stronger.' That's why we took this chance and we decided to get an air ambulance and the best team of doctors in the country to treat her. The treatment is going well in Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, and we hope for the best. She will recover and come back soon". ## Meanwhile, Sonu Sood has been fully recovered from the covid-19. Mumbai, April 23, 2021: Last year, on March 4, Kabir Singh producer Murad Khetani announced his next project in association with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. The Hindi remake of the Tamil movie, Thadam was announced with a release date of 20th November 2020. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the movie couldn't go on floors as scheduled in May.## The film that was supposed to be headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Mrunal Thakur finally went on floors in November last year with major changes. However, earlier this year, Sidharth did object to the new screenplay which resulted in, the actor opted out of the movie that put a brake on the further proceedings. ## Now, the remake of Thadam is back on track again as makers have reportedly locked Aditya Roy Kapur to play the lead. "Aditya Roy Kapur has been locked in to play the hero now. It's an action-packed film which will have double roles. This will also be Aditya's first double role ever. When Sid opted out, they were on the lookout for a good-looking hero who's fantastic with action. Apart from Adi, Mrunal remains part of the cast", said a source. ## Aditya Roy Kapur is currently busy filming for his next, Om - The Battle Within, with producer Ahmed Khan. Once he wrapped up Om, he will begin the Thadam remake sometime this year. He will be reprising the role of Arun Vijay from the original Thadam. ## Talking about the original Thadam, it is directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Inder Kumar. The movie starred Arun Vijay in a double role along with Tanya Hope and Vidya Pradeep. It was released on 1 March 2019 and was a box office success.
