Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, December 20 - The maiden collaboration between the two giant forces of Bollywood cinema, superstar Shah Rukh Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani is about to light up the big screen, as the countdown to the social comedy-drama film Dunki has begun. ## Set against the backdrop of illegal immigration, Dunki is SRK's third film of the year after the two mass entertainers, Pathaan and Jawan. Scheduled to release on December 21st worldwide, the movie has been certified 'U/A' with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes by CBFC. ## Dunki is completely different from SRK's last two films which were action entertainers. According to the industry buzz, Dunki will be released on around 4000 screens on its opening day, and then it will depend on the audience's word of mouth going forward as it will have to share screens with Prabhas-fronted Salaar which is releasing on December 22nd. ## The booking for Dunki is heading at a good pace considering the genre which is not front-loaded and the film being a mid-week release. Though Raju Hirani's films have never been about monstrous openings, the pre-sales are still good driven by the stardom of SRK and the goodwill of Hirani. ## As of 4 PM on December 20, Dunki sold over 400K tickets worth over 11.50 crores gross overall, including 175+K in the three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis) for the Thursday opening day. The sales are nowhere near the previous films of SRK but good enough for the genre.## The pre-sales of Dunki are expected to be finished with 15+ crores for the opening day which will be close to Sunny Deol's Gadar 2. G2, which was a hugely anticipated film and had a frontloaded value, opened at 40+ crores in a clash with OMG 2. Here, Dunki is not expected to beat these numbers as the booking trend indicates an opening of 32-35 crores could be on the card which will be a very good start for a mid-week release. ## As said, Raju Hirani's films have always been about longevity and Dunki could be another film in his blockbuster list, given the positive word-of-mouth and the long holiday period. Raju Hirani hasn't put a foot wrong in his glorious 20-year career and Dunki is expected to follow the suit. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Animal' Heading Towards 500 Crore Mark In Hindi

Mumbai, December 20 - Ranbir Kapoor-led action drama Animal is holding strongly in its third week and has crossed 475 crores net collection in Hindi. The overall net collection of the film is approximately 524 crores through the 3rd Tuesday (19 days). ## Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal is marching towards the 500 crores net club in Hindi and the chances are high to reach this rare box office mark considering the Christmas holidays ahead though the pace will now get slow due to the arrival of a couple of big films. ## Animal should reach around 480 crores mark through the third Wednesday before Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki arrives on Thursday, December 21st. The movie could have easily entered the coveted box office club had there been only Dunki as films have survived in the clash but Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Ceasefire is also coming on Friday (December 22nd). ## The good thing for Animal is that it has widely been received by paying audiences and with Christmas weekend ahead, the movie should be able to get going on a decent level. As things stand today, it is a matter of time before Animal earns its spot in the 500 crores club. ## Meanwhile, Animal has also crossed 850 crores gross mark globally. The film's total worldwide gross collection stands at approx. 851 crores, including approx. 227 crores overseas collection after 19 days. The movie is heading towards finishing over 900 crores gross in its final run. ## Stay tuned...

The film is directed by Prashanth Neel whose last directorial "KGF: Chapter 2" was a massive blockbuster and the expectations from his upcoming movie are no less than a blockbuster status. ## "Salaar: Ceasefire" will have to perform out of its skin to turn a profitable venture for the makers. The film's worldwide theatrical business is the second best ever for a Prabhas-starrer, after the giant "Baahubali 2" which crossed 350 crores worldwide theatrical business, and "Salaar" is very close to that mark. ## "Salaar's" worldwide theatrical rights have been sold at approx. 345 crores, according to T2BLive. The film must earn 345+ crores worldwide share collection or close to 600 crores gross to emerge as a box office hit. The rest of India business is around 50 crores while overseas business is around 75 crores. ## Prabhas' last few films didn't go well with critics and audiences alike, still, they managed to score close to 400 crores gross each except "Radhe Shyam". "Salaar" is releasing during the Christmas weekend and there is a tremendous buzz among the audiences for the same. If it manages to get positive talk, then the movie should be able to emerge as a box office hit easily. ## The advance booking of the film is going strong and the opening will easily be over 100 crores at the worldwide box office. ## Stay tuned...
