T-Series Puts Kartik Aaryan-Fronted 'Aashiqui 3' On Hold

Mumbai, March 6 - Bhushan Kumar-headed T-Series and director Anurag Basu enthusiastically announced the third instalment of the popular romantic franchise Aashiqui with Kartik Aaryan in the lead role in 2022. ## Since the film's announcement, there have been many rumours regarding the film's casting and production, and finally, T-Series has issued a statement putting all rumours to rest. However, in a major disappointment to the fans of the franchise, the company has put the film on hold indefinitely. ## "T-Series wishes to clarify that we are not presently involved in the development or production of Aashiqui 3. If and when Aashiqui 3 is initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films / Mukesh Bhatt being joint owners in the franchise shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title by T- Series", read the statement.## The studio also stated that they are currently working on another film with director Anurag Basu. "Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor part of the Aashiqui franchise. We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and enthusiasm of our fans. Mumbai, March 6 - Though it is not a hidden secret anymore, Yash Raj Films has officially confirmed that there will be a female-led film in the studio's ambitious Spy Universe film and it will be headlined by superstar Alia Bhatt. ## Over the last few months, there have been confirmed reports stating about Alia's Spy Universe debut to lead a solo female movie, and now, YRF CEO, Akshaye Widhani has confirmed the same. confirmed this huge development at FICCI Frames on March 5 (via India Today). ## Calling Spy Universe as YRF's biggest IP, Widhani said, "I'll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film and that the schedule starts later this year. But you know, talking about this spy universe, we are just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio". ## As reported, Alia Bhatt will be joined by actress Sharvari Wagh in the supporting role. Mumbai, March 5 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn set to thrill the audiences with his upcoming supernatural thriller film Shaitaan, co-starring R. Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janki Bodiwala. The Vikas Bahl's directorial movie is gearing up to release on March 8 on the occasion of Mahashivrati. ## Shaitaan is said to be the remake of the Gujarati film Vash, however, unlike the original version, the upcoming film has been granted a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The original movie got an 'A' (adult only) certificate from the censor board. ## According to reports, Shaitaan received 4 modifications from the Examining Committee (EC) of the CBFC while Vash was censored only after 8 major cuts. While the original film was 1 hour and 57 minutes long, Shaitaan reportedly has 2 hours and 12 minutes theatrical runtime. ## With the change in certification, it can be assumed that Shaitaan will be less gory than the original film. ## Shaitaan is produced by Devgn Films, Jio Studios, and Panorama Studios. Mumbai, March 1 - Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's aerial action thriller Fighter is nearing its box office as the movie currently stands at over 350 crores gross at the worldwide box office after 5 weeks of its theatrical run. ## Directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter at one stage looked down and out but staying true to its title, the movie fought back to reach a respectable total. In its 5th week, the movie minted approximately 2.80 crores net (3.25 crores gross) at the domestic box office, pushing the total India net to around 211.75 crores (253.75 crores gross). ## While the domestic collection is decent, the movie has done well at the overseas box office by grossing over 100 crores at an estimated 101 crores in 5 days, pushing the total worldwide collection to 355 crores gross.## Fighter has become Hrithik Roshan's third-biggest grosser at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office and for Deepika Padukone, it is her 5th biggest domestic grosser and 7th worldwide. The drop from the second week is around 50% which is a pretty solid hold for a movie that was rejected by most of the critics. ## Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya started the third week with a good collection of 2.50 crores net on Friday on which ticket prices were sold at just Rs. 99, before scoring approximately 7.50 crores net in the third weekend. ## After the weekend, TBMAUJ showed a steady trend and scored around 3.15 crores net from Monday to Thursday for approximately 10.65 crores net third week. The total collection of the film is currently at around 76.70 crores net and the movie is heading towards finishing around 80-85 crores lifetime collection. ## TBMAUJ is also doing well at the overseas box office and has minted an estimated 38 crores in three weeks. Mumbai, February 29 - Jio Studios and B62 Studios' political thriller Article 370, starring Yami Gautam and Priyamani in the leading roles, scored a good first week at the domestic box office, scoring over 35 crores net collection.## The movie, based on the real events that led to the abrogating of Article 370 in J&K, was released on February 23 and opened to a good collection of around 5.9 crores at a discounted price. Due to positive word of mouth, the movie witnessed growth over the weekend and minted approximately 23 crores net in the first 3 days. ## Article 370 witnessed a drop of over 60% on Monday for around 3.25 crores net but since then, the movie showed consistency in collection and remained over 3 crores net during the weekdays. The first week collection of the film is around 35.50 crores net which is good considering the theme. ## The 35.50 crores net collection is the fifth biggest first-week total for a Yami Gautam-starrer in the leading role, after Uri, OMG 2, Bala, and Kaabil. Article 370 has also become Yami's 8th biggest net grosser and by the end of the second weekend, the movie is expected to reach around 50 crores net.## At the worldwide box office, Article 370 is nearing 50 crores gross after the first week. Mumbai, February 28 - After lending in the top five most-watched films worldwide in its opening weekend, superstar Shah Rukh Khan's comedy-drama Dunki remained one of the most-watched non-English films on Netflix for the second consecutive week. ## Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki scored 11.1 million viewing hours from 4.2 million views during the week of February 19 - February 25 and was the third most-viewed non-English film worldwide. The movie was made available to stream from February 15 and it scored 13 million viewing hours from 4.9 million views in the first 4 days. ## Dunki has so far scored 24.1 million viewing hours from 9.1 million views, making it one of the most-watched Indian films on the streamer in the first 11 days. Additionally, it is trending in the top 10 in 21 countries, including number 1 in India, UAE, Oman, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Pakistan. ## Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Dunki witnessed higher viewership than SRK's last movie Jawan which scored 8.9 million views at the same time on Netflix. Mumbai, February 27 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh marked his return to the big screen in 2023 with mega-blockbuster Pathaan in January, followed by ever-bigger success in the form of Jawan in September, and by the end of the year, the actor scored another success in the form of Dunki. ## Dunki was supposed to be SRK's biggest movie due to his maiden collaboration with Maverick director Rajkumar Hirani. However, the comedy-drama couldn't come close to the actor's previous two movies though it ended up as a successful venture due to a controlled production budget. ## Released during the Christmas 2023 weekend, Dunki scored approximately 29 crores net upon its Thursday opening but the film couldn't show much growth from thereon during the weekend. It still scored a good first-week collection of 160 crores net but due to the mixed word of mouth, the movie dropped heavily in the second week to around 46 crores net. ## Dunki competed with Prabhas-fronted action drama Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire and the holdover Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor. The movie, however, kept pushing at low levels and eventually was able to cross 200 crores net collection, which can be termed decent given the genre but a lot was expected from the SRK and Rajkumar Hirani combo. ## The movie also underperformed at the overseas box office with an estimated 182 crores. Mumbai, February 24 - After a good first day, Yami Gautam-starrer Article 370 shows a very good spike of around 30% on its second day. The jump today is a huge positive sign for the film as the opening day collection came due to discounted prices but today the film has normal rates. ## According to early estimates, the political thriller scored an estimated 7.50 (+/-) crores net collection, taking the total cume to approximately 13.40 crores net in two days. The movie has set itself up for a big Sunday as the first weekend looks to be around 22-25 crores net. ## The opening of the film was encouraging with discounted ticket prices but there were doubts about whether it could hold the collection with normal rates. Not only has the movie shown a very good jump with regular prices but also indicates a long run though a lot will depend on Monday's hold. ## Meanwhile, Vidyut Jammwal's sports actioner Crakk, after the good first day with discounted prices, dropped on its second as it scored an estimated 2.75-3 crores net collection. Though a drop was expected with normal rates as initial word of mouth for the movie is mixed, it would have been nice had it finished close to the opening day figures which is not the case. ## The total collection after two days is around 7 crores net. Mumbai, February 22 - Yami Gautam and Priyamani-starrer political thriller Article 370 is headed for a good start at the box office. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale is scheduled to hit screens on February 23. ## The film is seeing an excellent response in advance sales which comes as a big surprise to many, however, the pre-sales are being propelled by the cinema lovers' day across multiplexes with a discounted price of rs. 99. ## In 3 national chains (PVR, INOX, Cinepolis), Article 370 has sold over 80K tickets so far. It is about to finish around 100K for the opening day, which is higher than some big ticket entertainers like Lal Singh Chaddha, Vikram Vedha, and Drishyam 2, among others. ## With the kind of pre-sales the movie is having, an opening of well over 10 crores mark would have been assured but it comes at half of normal ticket prices.
