Chennai, July 22, 2021: Ahead of Tamil superstar Suriya's 46th birthday, the makers of his next film with director Pandiraj have unveiled the title and first look poster. The movie, titled "Etharkkum Thunindhavan", is the 40th film of Suriya's career and it is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his banner Sun Pictures. ## Sun Pictures took to Twitter and revealed the title and first look of Suriya40. Etharkkum Thunindhavan is currently on floors and will be wrapped soon. Have a look at the first look motion poster of Suriya 40 below. ## ## The movie also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan, Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash, and Ilavarasu in prominant roles. D Imman has composed the music which marks his first assignment with Suriya. Rathnavelu has been roped in as the cinematographer.## Etharkkum Thunindhavan marks Suriya's 3rd collaboration with Pandiraj. Chennai, July 19, 2021: Mani Ratnam's long-awaited epic historical drama, Ponniyin Selvan, has been confirmed to release in two parts, first to debut in summer 2022. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's epic five-book series novel of the same name, the movie has an ensemble cast featuring Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others. ## Backed by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies along with Allirajah Subaskaran's Lyca Productions, the story of the film chronicles the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Kalki visited Sri Lanka three times to gather information for it. ## On Monday (July 19), the makers of the film released a brand new poster, confirming it a two-part release with a tagline of "The golden era comes to life!". Chennai, July 13, 2021: The Madras High Court has slammed Tamil superstar Vijay for seeking tax exemption for his Rolls Royce Ghost, which he bought in 2012 in England. Dismissing a writ petition filed by actor Joseph Vijay in 2012, the HC also slapped a fine of ₹1 lakh to be paid by him to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.## Justice S.M. Subramaniam came down heavily on the actor and said that his fans consider him a real hero in Tamil Nadu. Thus, the actors should behave accordingly and not reel heroes. The HC also criticized Mr. Vijay for not having even disclosed his occupation in the affidavit filed in support of his case.## "It is surprising to note that the petitioner has not even stated his profession or occupation in his affidavit. He has imported a prestigious costly car from England but unfortunately, not paid entry tax as per the statutes. He has filed a writ petition to avoid payment of tax... The petitioner, who is a reputed cine actor, is expected to pay the tax promptly and punctually", the judge said.## "In the State of Tamil Nadu, cine heroes have risen as rulers of the State and therefore, the people are under the impression that they are real heroes. Thus, they are not expected to behave like reel heroes. Tax evasion is to be construed as an anti-national habit, attitude and mindset and unconstitutional", he added.## "The common men are motivated and encouraged to behave as lawful citizens and pay tax and to thrive hard to achieve social justice in the society. If the rich, affluent and reputed persons fail to pay the tax as applicable, then this Court with pain, records that it would be a long way to achieve the constitutional goals", the court obesereved. ## Meanwhile, on the work front, Vijay is currently shooting for his next film titled "Beast" with director Nelson Dilipkumar. Hyderabad, July 1, 2021: The veteran Tamil producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu is all set to join hands with Telugu superstar Allu Arjun for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie. The Karnan, Asuran, Thuppakki, and Theri, producer has confirmed that he is planning to bankroll the film with Allu Arjun. ## The national award-winning producer for Asuran (2019) and Vanna Vanna Pookkal (1992) also said that he is in talks with a Tamil director to helm the project and he is hoping that the project would materialize soon. ## Thanu also recalled the time in his series Unmayai Solluven when he helped Allu Arjun's father, Allu Aravind. He said that when Allu Aravind made Maapillai with Rajinikanth in Tamil, he helped him to lock the distribution deals. Later, Thanu also supported Aravind for the release of the dubbed version of Magadheera in Tamil.## If things go ahead as per plans, it will be Allu Arjun's debut in Tamil. He was earlier supposed to make his Tamil debut with a bilingual, directed by Lingusamy. Chennai, June 30, 2021: Two brilliant filmmakers and multiple national award winners, actor Kamal Haasan and director Vetrimaaran will reportadly be teaming up for the first time for a film. This film, like Vetri Maaran's previous blockbusters, too is said to be based on a popular novel and will be made with a huge budget.## It is also said that famous producer Anbu Chezhiyan of Gopuram Film has arranged this meet and Haasan has given his nod for the script narrated by the Asuran filmmaker. The official announcement is expected to be made soon once the paperwork is done. ## Earlier, Kamal Haasan was supposed to do films with Mysskin and Selvaraghavan but those projects never happened after the actor interfered and tried to make changes in the script. Chennai, June 29, 2021: Actor Sivakarthikeyan's medical action film, Doctor, has been a talk of the town for a long time now. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial is ready for release since the last year, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, it kept getting postponed. The movie was all set to hit theaters on March 26, 2021, however, due to the elections in Tamil Nadu, makers again postponed the release indefinitely. ## While the makers had a chance to release the "Doctor" in March this year before they announced the postponement, the second covid-19 wave made sure their wait gets longer if they still want theatrical release. As of June 2021, there are still no signs of releasing the movie anytime soon. However, there are a lot of rumors that have started making noise regarding the medium "Doctor" will release on. ## Recently, the producer of the film, KJR Studios had announced that the film will get the right release when things become normal. Ever since it has been speculated that Doctor has been sold to Disney+Hostar for direct-to-digital release in 4 South Indian languages. However, there is no official confirmation yet from the makers of the film. ## On the other hand, as per the latest buzz in Kollywood, the movie is still very much in line to get a theatrical release. While Disney Plus indeed approached the "Doctor" team to grab the streaming rights, it has also been said that the streaming giant also wanted the satellite rights to be given to Vijay TV. But KJR Studios had already inked a deal with Sun TV for the TV premiere, so things didn't go as per plan. ## And now, if there is anything to go by the buzz, Doctor will be hitting theaters on August 14 or 15 this year. However, the OTT release of the film can not be ruled out as theaters in Tamil Nadu are yet to reopen, which may (or already) force the makers to take the OTT route. It will be interesting to see what medium makers choose to release the film.## Priyanka Arul Mohan plays Sivakarthikeyan's pair in the film while Vinay Rai plays the antagonist.
