Chad Gable managed to beat the Intercontinental Champion, Gunther. Sadly for Gunther, who's an important teacher at the Alpha Academy, Gable's win was by count-out. So, Gable got the victory but not the Intercontinental Championship. ## Gunther was really mad about the loss. He talked to his friends from Imperium, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, and told them how disappointed he was. Gunther's determined to fix things, and that's why Kaiser decided to face Gable one-on-one. Kaiser wants to impress Maxxine Dupri, who's a big deal at the Alpha Academy and has scolded Kaiser a few times before. The fight between Kaiser and Gable is going to be a big deal. There are lots of feelings and reasons mixed up in their upcoming match. ## Singles Match: Becky Lynch Vs Zoey Stark ## Before "The Man" enters a steel cage to face Trish Stratus at WWE Payback, she will first take on Trish Stratus' student, Zoey Stark. Lynch has been attempting unsuccessfully to reach Trish Stratus and Stark for weeks. Finally, she will have a one-on-one match with Stark, and this time it's going to be a Falls Count Anywhere Match. ## Tommaso Ciampa and “Big” Bronson Reed battle once more ## The ongoing feud between Tommaso Ciampa and "Big" Bronson Reed is continuing relentlessly. Their personal grudge ignited when Reed interrupted Ciampa's match against The Miz about a month back. ## Now, they are set for a rematch in the ring, both aiming to establish their dominance. In their previous encounter, The Aus-Zilla secured a win due to Shinsuke Nakamura's interference, which distracted Ciampa. ## The New Day to take on The Viking Raiders ## On Monday Night Raw, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are gearing up to face off against Erik and Ivar of The Viking Raiders. Edge first made his WWE debut on the June 22, 1998 episode of Raw. ## Most recently, Edge appeared on the July 7 episode of WWE SmackDown as a guest on the Grayson Waller Effect. Despite Waller's attempts to convince him to retire, Edge ended up wrestling Waller on the show and emerged victorious with his signature move, the spear. ## In a backstage interview, Edge hinted that he might also commemorate his 25-year anniversary on Raw and NXT. ## Singles Match: Edge vs. Sheamus ## Edge made an unexpected appearance in Hart Country just a week before his 25-year anniversary celebration. The reason behind his appearance was significant as he aimed to shake things up for the upcoming August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown. ## Although Edge's presence wasn't initially announced for the August 11 edition of SmackDown, he surprised the Calgary WWE Universe by showing up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This decision was fueled by his desire to reconnect with his fans there after a considerable absence. Beyond merely celebrating his Homecoming in Toronto, Edge had bigger plans for the August 18 SmackDown episode. ## In a bold move, Edge issued a challenge to Sheamus, a rival he had never faced one-on-one throughout their shared time in WWE. Edge recounted a story during which he appeared on Sheamus' Celtic Warrior Workouts YouTube channel and the subsequent incident of falling off his bike. These events served as the catalysts for his return to WWE, and Edge aimed to make the August 18 SmackDown episode a memorable one, not just for his Toronto Homecoming. ## Inviting Sheamus to join him in the ring, Edge extended his challenge. Sheamus, on his part, shared his own tale about how Edge's words of encouragement back in 2004 played a pivotal role in keeping his WWE dreams alive. Sheamus ultimately accepted Edge's challenge. While the atmosphere remained mostly amicable, Sheamus offered a final caution to Edge, hinting that he might be underestimating the consequences of his challenge. ## With an agreement to share a pint of Guinness after their match, these experienced veterans are set to finally clash for the first time ever in Toronto on August 18. ## Grayson Waller Effect with Rey Mysterio ## Rey Mysterio unexpectedly became the WWE United States Champion once again. The plan was for Santos Escobar to challenge Austin Theory for the title on the August 11 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. However, Theory tried to avoid defending his title by attacking Santos backstage and then again during his entrance. ## But Santos Escobar didn't let Theory off the hook. He agreed to replace himself with Rey Mysterio in the title match. Rey Mysterio ended up winning his third WWE United States Championship by defeating Austin Theory with his signature 619 move. Later, it was revealed that Rey Mysterio would appear on the Grayson Waller Effect on the August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown. ## Charlotte Flair & Asuka Vs. Damage CTRL? ## Last week on SmackDown, Damage CTRL caused Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka to end in a no-contest. However, "The Man" was determined to earn another opportunity to face Stratus, and she achieved just that by defeating Stark on the July 24 episode. Seizing the moment, Lynch boldly challenged Stratus to an impromptu showdown on the July 31 episode of WWE Raw. ## To everyone's surprise, WWE official Adam Pearce swiftly arranged the match, but it didn't go as planned. Zoey Stark once again intervened, attacking Lynch and causing a disqualification. However, the drama didn't end there, as Lynch retaliated and a chaotic brawl ensued, involving both Stark and Stratus. Stratus resorted to using a chair during the brawl before eventually leaving the scene.## The backstage fallout saw Pearce reprimanding Stratus for the unsanctioned chaos that transpired. Stratus explained that she wasn't adequately prepared for the sudden confrontation, but Pearce responded by assuring her that she would get her chance for redemption soon. Their rematch was officially scheduled for the August 14 episode of WWE Raw, and to add to the intrigue, Stratus would have the advantage of performing in her hometown of Winnipeg. ## Shinsuke Nakamura to talk about his savage attack on Seth “Freakin” Rollins## On Monday Night Raw, we witnessed WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth "Freakin" Rollins, along with Cody Rhodes and Shinsuke Nakamura, emerging victorious against The Judgment Day. However, what unfolded next left both the WWE Universe and the champion utterly surprised. ## Candice LeRae Vs. Rhea Ripley ## Last week on Monday Night Raw, Out of nowhere, Raquel Rodriguez launched a surprise attack on Ripley from behind! Rodriguez shoved Ripley into the barricade and starts throwing punches relentlessly until officials intervene and separate them. Ripley tried to lunge at Rodriguez but was held back. Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell rushed in to assist, only for Ripley to push them aside. Ripley kicked Rodriguez down and keeps up the assault. LeRae and Hartwell joined the fray, attacking Ripley. Referees and other officials quickly arrive on the scene and eventually, restore order. ## Shinsuke Nakamura to call out Seth Rollins for a match ## Last week on Monday Night Raw, Shinsuke Nakamura laid out Seth “Freakin” Rollins. This happened after Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Cody Rhodes & Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The Judgment Day. After the match, Out of the blue, Shinsuke Nakamura nails Seth "Freakin" Rollins with a Kinshasa, knocking him down! Nakamura then strolls away while Rhodes and Zayn watch, appearing puzzled and agitated. Throughout the year, the two men have engaged in multiple intense battles, with AJ emerging victorious in both of their singles matches.
