New York, 26 November - WWE returns are always exciting moments for fans, as they often bring back popular stars who have been away from the company for a while. In the year 2023, the WWE company released several of its superstars while a few others made a much-awaited comeback, delighting their fans.##
The return of some of the wrestlers created a lot of buzz among fans, making it a moment to remember in the history of WWE. Last night's WWE Survivor Series saw CM Punk making his way back to WWE, and his comeback was one of the most remarkable moments of the year. ##
Let's take a look at the top 5 comebacks of 2023. ##
#1. CM Punk: It is imperative to recognize CM Punk as the rightful holder of the top spot on the list, given his outstanding performance. Despite signing with AEW, his return to WWE was unexpected, but it was undoubtedly well-deserved.##
At the conclusion of Survivor Series: WarGames, CM Punk made an emphatic return to WWE, igniting a frenzy of excitement among the WWE Universe in Chicago. ##
#2. Randy Orton: WWE Survivor Series: WarGames witnessed three notable comebacks, with one of them being Randy Orton's return. He teamed up with Cody Rhodes, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Sami Zayn, and Jey Uso to secure a victory against The Judgment Day & Drew McIntyre. ##
Despite suffering a legitimate back injury and initially being slated for a hiatus for the remainder of 2022, Randy Orton made an unexpected appearance at Survivor Series on November 25. The anticipation surrounding the match grew as Orton had yet to join his team before WarGames commenced. Upon Orton's entrance into the ring, the match officially kicked off, and the rest, as they say, is history. ##
#3. John Cena: Cena, made a surprise appearance at Money in the Bank, where he was confronted by Grayson Waller after Cena stated that WrestleMania should come to the United Kingdom. He also wrestled at the Superstar Spectacle event in India on September 8. ##
At Crown Jewel, Cena was defeated by Solo Sikoa, probably putting an end to his WWE journey as a full-time wrestler. ##
#4. The Rock: The Rock did indeed make his WWE return in September, but it didn't quite generate the attention as much as others did. This was perhaps because it didn't align with the way the WWE Universe had hoped to see him back. Nevertheless, there are no complaints; when The Rock is in the mix, you can't deny the enthusiastic response he receives. ##
On September 15, 2023, The Rock made a surprise comeback on SmackDown, targeting Austin Theory. This marked his first appearance on WWE television since October 4, 2019. While The Rock's return was significant, it could have been even more impactful had he returned to face Roman Reigns and prolonged his presence. ##
#5. Kairi Sane: She made her return at Crown Jewel assisting Iyo Sky in retaining the WWE Women's Championship against Bianca Belair, and joined the SmackDown brand. On the following episode of SmackDown, Sane confronted Bayley and forgave her for her actions in 2020 and joined Damage CTRL.##
On the same episode, during a six-woman tag team match pitting Asuka with Belair and Charlotte Flair against Damage CTRL (Bayley, Sky and Sane), Asuka turned on her teammates to reunite with Sane while joining Damage CTRL at the same time. ##
