He questions what happened to the Nakamura who headlined the Tokyo Dome and set NXT ablaze upon his arrival. Just a month prior, Seth notes, he would've given Nakamura the shirt off his back. Yet, that same back, broken in two places, didn't hinder Seth from becoming World Champion. He emphasizes that his injured back won't prevent him from thrashing Nakamura on Saturday. ## Seth pledges to relentlessly assault Nakamura until someone intervenes. He promises Nakamura that he will never take anything from him: neither his title, his future, nor his family. ## Nakamura interrupts by delivering a knee to Seth's back and applying a reverse chin lock. He concludes his attack with a forceful kick to Seth's head. ## Meanwhile, in the locker room, Sami and Kevin discuss their ongoing rivalry. ## Sami voices frustration with the recurring pattern, highlighting their victories and The Judgment Day's persistent comebacks. He references the recent DQ win and how it granted them a title shot. Sami questions Kevin, asking him to elucidate their plan. ## Kevin responds, stating that the rules won't be in their favor this time. He brings up Pittsburgh, prompting Sami to acknowledge it as the Steel City. Kevin reveals their match type: a Steel City street fight. He humorously adds that while Pittsburgh has seen its share of eccentric occurrences, what they have in store will surpass them all. ## Singles Match: Tommaso Ciampa Vs Bronson Reed ## Reed launches a surprise attack on Ciampa from behind as Ciampa makes his way to the ring. Ciampa retaliates with a series of punches, and both competitors enter the ring. Ciampa dispatches Reed to the outside and follows up with a knee strike that propels Reed to the floor. Ciampa then executes another knee off the apron. ## We're back from the break, and the match is already in progress. Ciampa nails a Thesz Press off the turnbuckles, but Reed answers with a splash. Reed attempts a delayed vertical suplex, but Ciampa counters with a knee and shifts it into a sleeper hold. Reed drives Ciampa into the turnbuckles with a splash. Ciampa delivers a drop kick, causing Reed to slump into the turnbuckles. Ciampa tries to hoist Reed onto his shoulders, successfully executing an Air Raid Crash for a close two-count. ## Reed surprises Ciampa with a body block as Ciampa charges. Reed readies for a Liger Bomb and nearly gets the win. Reed sets up Ciampa for a move, but Ciampa seizes Reed and drags him on to the apron. Ciampa dishes out chops, while Reed flings Ciampa off the apron into the ring steps. ## Reed takes charge with a shoulder tackle off the apron, and Ciampa manages to escape a potential power bomb, sliding into the ring. Ciampa nails Willow's Bell followed by a running knee to the head for another near fall. Reed catches Ciampa during another attempt at a running knee. Both exchange forearm strikes. Ciampa lands a boot to the head and a forearm. Ciampa lands a clothesline, and Reed manages to stay upright. Ciampa executes a crucifix bomb, securing the three-count victory. ## WINNER: Tommaso Ciampa ## In the backstage area, Jackie Redmond catches up with Becky Lynch. Jackie asks Becky about her upcoming match against Trish and whether she has any doubts regarding tonight's bout. ## Becky responds by mentioning that she's been contemplating the idea of giving Zoey a real beating all around the arena. She questions if taking the easy route is the right path and whether she even wants that. She affirms her intention to introduce a whole lot of chaos. ## The Women's Champion, Rhea Ripley, enters the scene, accompanied by Dominik Mysterio. As we return to the scene, Tiffany Stratton is seated in the front row in Memphis. ## Rhea responds, stating that Raquel asserts she'll bring her down a notch, yet she had to feign an injury to gain an upper hand. Rhea holds no grudge against Raquel for that move. She opts not to delve into listing her achievements, as it would take up too much time. Instead, she gestures to the title belt around her waist as the ultimate proof. While Raquel believes she's snatching the championship on Saturday, Rhea sees that notion as another testament to Raquel's foolishness. Rhea acknowledges Raquel's own accomplishments: her size and toughness. Raquel might be big and strong, but she's not Rhea Ripley. Despite all the talk, Rhea asserts that she'll leave as the champion after Payback. ## Raquel's interruption leads her to the ring. ## Punches are exchanged between Raquel and Rhea. Raquel launches into punches and kicks, following up with an Irish whip and a corner splash. Raquel executes a fallaway slam, sending Rhea to the outside. Dominik enters the ring behind Raquel, kneeling to propose a truce to avoid any further altercation. Seizing the opportunity, Rhea strikes Raquel from behind. Raquel thwarts RipTide with a hip toss and then lands a clothesline. Rhea ends up on the floor again. ## Trish Stratus confronts Becky backstage, expressing her view that it was Becky who made the foolish decision to request this match. She points out that Becky's actions are granting Zoey Stark unrestricted control to unleash her attacks. Trish alludes to their upcoming match on Saturday, highlighting the implications. ## Zoey Stark asserts that once she's finished dealing with Becky, she'll leave enough for Trish to contend with in their steel cage match. ## Returning from the break, the focus shifts to the Payback event card. ## A retrospective video package pays homage to Terry Funk, reflecting on his career and contributions. ## Becky Lynch Vs Zoey Stark (with Trish Stratus) in a Falls Count Anywhere Match ## Before the match commences, Becky retrieves her own kendo stick conveniently stashed under the ring. Becky employs the kendo stick to strike Zoey several times. Subsequently, she executes a White Russian Leg sweep for a close near fall. Zoey exits to the ringside area, prompting Becky to deliver kicks and a forearm. Trish intervenes, attacking Becky with the kendo stick. Zoey endeavors a power bomb, yet Becky counters by reaching the apron and landing a kick. Becky dismisses Trish with punches and executes a cross body onto both Zoey and Trish, securing a near fall. Becky propels Zoey into the ringside barrier. However, Zoey responds by striking Becky with the kendo stick when Becky checks under the ring. Zoey propels Becky into the ring steps and nearly secures a pinfall. In the ropes, Becky kicks Zoey and lands uppercuts. Zoey counters with a springboard dropkick, resulting in another near fall. ## Zoey instructs Trish to fetch a chair from beneath the ring, and Trish obliges without causing harm. Becky attempts a rollup for another near fall. Trish adds chairs to the ring without incident this time. Zoey kicks Becky, positions her on the turnbuckles, and prepares for a superplex. However, Becky thwarts Zoey's effort, knocking her down. A leg drop from the turnbuckles by Becky to Zoey yields a close near fall. Becky endeavors to apply the DisArmHer, but Zoey escapes and propels Becky into the chairs. Becky counters Zoey's Z360 and executes an uranage for a near fall. Becky engages in a chase around the ring with Trish, who ultimately retrieves a kendo stick. ## Becky manages to block Trish's attempt, kicking her and striking her with the kendo stick. As Trish retreats up the aisle, Becky continues her assault. Meanwhile, Zoey utilizes a chair to strike Becky several times, nearly securing a pinfall. ## A commercial break ensues. ## Returning from the break, Becky hurls Zoey over the ringside barrier, sending her back into the ringside area. With determination, Becky delivers a forearm off the ringside barrier. She proceeds to execute an exploder, slamming Zoey into the ringside barrier for a near fall. Becky directs Zoey back into the ring and then surprises the crowd by retrieving a table from under the ring, earning cheers from the audience. However, Zoey counters with a kick, shifting the table aside. Zoey returns Becky to the ring and drops her onto the top rope. Utilizing a chair, Zoey strikes Becky in the back. Zoey positions a chair on top of Becky before making her way to the apron for a springboard twisting senton onto both Becky and the chair, securing a close near fall. Zoey pulls Becky amid a stack of chairs and adds another chair on top. ## Zoey ascends the turnbuckles, but Becky counters by striking her. Becky prepares for a superplex onto the chairs and successfully executes it for another near fall. Zoey rolls out of the ring. Becky rearranges the furniture, clearing the hood of the announce table. She aims for a uranage onto the table, yet Zoey counters with elbow strikes. Trish intervenes by tripping Becky. Zoey capitalizes, landing a sliding kick to Becky on the announce table, narrowly missing a pinfall. ## Zoey launches a kick at Becky before heading towards the ringside barrier, but Becky retaliates by pushing Zoey off. Seizing the moment, Becky sends Trish over the announce table. Becky prepares for a uranage on some storage cases, but Trish interrupts her plans, executing a bulldog off the table. Trish signals for Zoey to capitalize and go for the cover. Trish assists in pulling Zoey over, but their effort only results in a near fall. ## Trish and Zoey engage in a forearm exchange, eventually making their way to the storage cases. Meanwhile, Becky pushes Zoey to the floor. Becky follows up with a kick, though Zoey successfully thwarts Becky's uranage attempt. In an unintended turn of events, Zoey accidentally knocks Trish off, causing her to crash through a table. Capitalizing on the opportunity, Becky executes a uranage through a table on Zoey, securing the three-count victory. ## WINNER: Becky Lynch ## Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta Vs Eddie Kingston & Katsuyori Shibata ## Taz joined the commentary team as Kingston wore a shirt paying tribute to the late Terry Funk, reading "Claudio Sucks Eggs." Yuta and Shibata started the match with some grappling, and Shibata landed some hard Kawada kicks. Castagnoli was eager to get tagged in, and Yuta obliged. Castagnoli landed some strikes but missed a dropkick, and Shibata missed a PK kick. Kingston tagged in, and Castagnoli tagged in Yuta, who then got beaten up by Kingston. ## The action spilled outside the ring as Kingston and Castagnoli brawled, with Yuta later connecting on a dive and Castagnoli slamming Kingston into the railing. Kingston found himself isolated until he managed to execute an STO on Yuta, allowing Shibata to get the hot tag. Shibata and Castagnoli took turns delivering corner strikes, and Shibata was the one left standing after a stalling running dropkick followed by a butterfly suplex. Shibata locked in a triangle choke, but Castagnoli escaped and, along with Yuta, executed a "fastball special" for a near fall. ## Shibata responded with a backfist that dropped Yuta and locked him in a submission hold while shrugging off Castagnoli's strikes. Kingston tagged in and planted Yuta with a DDT when Yuta tried to execute a "skin the cat" move. Kingston followed up with machine gun chops and an Exploder suplex, but Castagnoli interrupted with a big boot. Yuta then took a pump kick from Shibata, leading to Kingston executing a Saito Suplex. ## Shibata and Castagnoli exchanged uppercuts before an overhand right from Shibata knocked Castagnoli down. The fight continued outside the ring. Kingston and Yuta had a spirited exchange, with Yuta dropping Kingston on his head with a suplex, and Kingston responding with an enzuigiri and stiff slaps. ## Finally, it came down to Kingston and Castagnoli, who traded heavy blows until Castagnoli hit a Neutralizer for a two-count. Kingston managed to escape a Ricola Bomb attempt and landed a spinning backfist, followed by a Northern Lights Bomb for another near fall. Yuta fell victim to a backfist from Kingston and ended up caught in Shibata's chokehold on the apron. Kingston turned around just in time for Castagnoli to land a massive uppercut and secure the pin on Kingston, with Shibata unable to intervene from the apron. ## WINNERS: Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

WWE SmackDown 8/25/23 Scores 0.71 Rating in Key Demo, Tops Night on Cable

Have a look at the initial viewership figures for the August 25 edition of WWE SmackDown. ## As reported by SpoilerTV, the preliminary data reveals that WWE SmackDown garnered an average of 2.505 million viewers on August 25. This marks an increase from the 2.233 million viewers the show received in the preliminary count on August 18. The final count for viewership settled at 2.094 million viewers the previous Friday. Notably, the airing of NFL Preseason Football took precedence in certain regions, impacting Friday's WWE SmackDown and causing a decline in the final viewership figures for the last two weeks. ## During the Friday broadcast, the show achieved a 0.71 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, securing the top spot for the night among cable programs. This rating represents a significant rise from the preliminary rating of 0.53 from the previous Friday.
