Box Office: Drishyam 2 Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, November 18 - The big movie of the day, "Drishyam 2" starring Ajay Devgan has been released in theaters today. The film is a sequel to Drishyam which was released in 2015 and did very well at the box office. But more than the box office, its run on satellite has made the film into a cult film with excellent impressions. There was a brand value and then the trailer of the film received immensely positive feedback from its target audience, all this coupled with an excellent start at the box office which is very rare for Hindi films post the pandemic.## The film has been released on over 3300 screens making it one of the biggest releases ever of Ajay Devgan in terms of size. The film started with an average morning occupancy of around 20% which is much better than most of the films released so far in 2022. The morning start was comparable to "Ram Setu" which is the second biggest opener post-pandemic for Hindi films.## The opening day early estimates of "Drishyam 2" suggest around 15 crores net box office mark which is a very good first-day collection for a thriller movie in the post-pandemic times. There were expectations of a double-digit opening and Drishyam 2 has surpassed all expectations by a huge margin. There are chances of it topping "Ram Setu's" opening of 15.20 crores net if single screens perform very well. The opening will also be the fourth or fifth highest ever of Ajay Devgan after Singham 2, Golmaal Again, Total Dhamaal, and Tanhaji. Both Singham 2 and Golmaal Again were national holiday releases so this makes Drishyam2 his second or third biggest non-holiday opener.## The collections of Drishyam2 are being driven by Mumbai and Gujarat circuits which was expected as the first part of the film did excellent business in these circuits and the film also gives a vibe of a regional Maharashtra film. The other circuits are doing average business but they are better than most big films of this year barring Brahmastra and Bhool Bhulaiya2. ## The best thing about Drishyam2 is that the reports are excellent so it has a bright chance of scoring huge first-weekend collections. The film is expected to see good growth tomorrow. The mass centers will come into the picture on Sunday. Even if the film remains flat then also it has a chance of hitting 50cr weekend. Overall Drishyam 2 has given the industry a much-needed boost which can be called the biggest success post-pandemic but the job has to be done to get that tag.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, October 31 - The poor run of Thank God continues at the bod office as the early estimate collections suggest approx. 1.65 crores and this is just the 7th day of the run of the film at the box office. Thank God had a poor first extended weekend business of around 29.25cr net box office mark.## The first Monday collections will take the entire box office collections of Thank God to just a little under the 31cr net box office mark depending on the actual first Monday collections. Thank God has to be the worst Diwali performer in a long long time at the box office.## The lifetime business of the film might even fail to cross the 50cr mark. As of today, the final lifetime collections of the film are set to be between 40-45cr net box office mark. Mumbai, October 31 - Ram Setu had an average first extended weekend at the box office with around 56cr net box office collections. There was a chance of hitting the 60cr mark but the film remained flat on Sunday due to a cricket match between India and South Africa in peak collections time.## That was one reason but the biggest reason for a limited Saturday growth and flat Sunday was due to average to poor feedback from the audiences as they did not like the film. The extended weekend collections of 56cr came due to the Diwali holidays and the star power of Akshay Kumar and not due to the film.## The first Monday's early estimates suggest 2.70 crores net which is a poor number once again and the film will continue to fall from here on. The first Monday collections will take the entire box office collections of Ram Setu to around the 58.70cr net box office mark. The lifetime business of the film is set to be around 80-85cr net unless the film drops heavily. The 80-85cr lifetime business will still be considered to be a flop business of Ram Setu as it was a huge film in terms of cost.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, October 30 - Thank God continues its poor run at the box office despite being released on one of the best weekends of the year. Yesterday the film had shown a growth of around 15% and there was an expectation that the film will see further growth today due to the Sunday holiday but that hasn't happened as the Sunday collections look similar to yesterday.## The early estimate collections suggest approx. 4 crores net which is just a few lakhs better than yesterday. The first Sunday collections will take the total collections of Thank God to around 29.40cr depending on the actual first Sunday collections.## The film has failed to perform at the box office initially with the film failing to touch even 30cr in its first extended weekend of 6 days. Ram Setu First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, October 30 - Ram Setu which underperformed on the first weekend had shown its first growth yesterday when it grew around 20% and it was expected that the film will show further growth today but that did not happen. Of course, the collections are better than yesterday but the trajectory of the film is not as good as it should have been. ## The film scored an estimated 7.75 crores net on its first Sunday, jumping approx. 5%. The main reasons for limited growth are a cricket world cup match of India and that too in peak collection time. The other reason for limited growth is less appreciation of the film barring a few circuits where it had done decent business.## The first Sunday collections will take the entire box office collections of Ram Setu to around the 56.50cr mark. There is a shortfall of 4cr which would have made the extended weekend of Ram Setu on a decent note. The Monday hold will give the idea of the lifetime business of the film and whether it will be able to cross 100cr net collections or not. Ram Setu will be the fourth consecutive nonperformer of Akshay Kumar along with Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan who was going through his best phase as an actor with 4 superhit films before the pandemic struck.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, October 29 - Thank God which had poor collections on the first four days has shown growth on the first Saturday of its box office run. Although the growth is not much it is better to see growth to show that the film is not outright rejected though Thank God is very close to being a rejected film.## The early estimate collections on the first Saturday suggest approx. 3.75-4 crores net box office collections which is again a poor collection on Saturday as Saturday acts like a partial holiday due to the next day being Sunday. The film has seen a low collection in practically every circuit barring a few where comedy films do well.## The first Saturday collections will take the entire collections of Thank God to a 25.40cr net box office mark depending on the final Saturday collections. The extended weekend is set to be around the 30-32cr mark which the film should reach in the worst case.## Overall Thank God had a disappointing result at the box office considering the Diwali weekend release. Mumbai, October 29 - Ram Setu which had underwhelming first four days is heading towards a decent day at the box office on its first Saturday of its box office run. The film has witnessed its first growth of the run as well. ## The early estimate collections suggest approx. 7.10 crores net which means the film has shown a growth of approx 20% which is good growth. Saturday is the best day for growth in multiplexes due to the next day being Sunday and as expected the film has put some decent collections in multiplexes. ## The first Saturday collections will take the entire collections of Ram Setu to around 48.75cr net box office collections. There is a huge Sunday holiday to come tomorrow and if the film gets some growth from Saturday then it will be a decent extended weekend for the film with approx 58-60cr net box office mark.## Sunday should record a double-digit mark as Sunday is a huge day for mass centers and Ram Setu is a film that is driven by mass centers. Mumbai, October 28 - Ram Setu, which recorded decent first three days at the box office with 35.40 crores net has shown another drop today at the box office. The film has witnessed a similar drop to yesterday with around a 20% drop depending on the final collections.## The early estimate collections suggest 7 crores net box office mark which will take the entire collections of Ram Setu to around 42.40cr net. The extended weekend collections are looking to be around the 60cr mark unless the film shows huge growth on Saturday and Sunday and goes towards the 65cr mark which is difficult due to less appreciation of the film.## The film did not perform at the expected level at least initially and the hope is that the film crosses the 100cr mark somehow for a decent result at the box office. The mass centers have recorded good collections in the first four days thanks to the popularity of Akshay Kumar in B and C-tier cities. Mumbai, October 27 - Thank God which had poor collections on the first two days has dropped down further on the third day of its box office run which is not a good sign for the film as the first two days were not even decent considering the Diwali weekend which is the biggest weekend of the year.## The third-day early estimate suggests approx. 4 crores net box office mark which will mean a drop of around 30-33% from yesterday. Despite the first three days being holidays the film failed to register a double-digit mark on any day. ## There is a clash with Ram Setu which is a far bigger film than Thank God Thank God has got enough capacity to collect 18-20cr easily but since the content has failed to entertain the audience, the collections have also failed.## Today's collections will take the entire collections of Thank God to just a little over the 18cr mark. The film had a slower start compared to the first day and throughout the day it remained behind. ## The film had a very ordinary first-day collection so a drop from there is a shocking thing for the trade and industry in general. Thank God is another case where the content has gone wrong.## The second-day early estimates suggest approx. 6 crores net which is approx 25% than yesterday. The film is shown a similar drop to its opponent Ram Setu. Today's collections will take the first two days of collections of the film to a little over the 14 crores net mark depending on the final second-day collections.## The film stars Ajay Devgn who is one of the most popular stars and has a huge fanbase but from the trailer, the film appeared like an extended cameo role for him.
