Mumbai, March 2 (IANS) Filmmaker Rohit Shetty's next film, the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Sooryavashi', talks of terror strikes and Hindu-Muslim harmony. The filmmaker asks people to stay calm in the face of communal tension in the wake of the ongoing unrest in Delhi, urging fans not to spread panic and rumours without adequate knowledge of ground realities. ## "What is happening in Delhi or the country is a serious issue. There is a whole bunch of people talking about it. I think at this moment the best thing would be to keep calm. Our officials and the government and the people are working on it in Delhi, said Shetty, at the trailer launch of his forthcoming action thriller Sooryavanshi in Mumbai on Monday. ## The filmmaker added: "We're here in Mumbai at a trailer launch having a good time, and to talk about those suffering in Delhi would be the easiest thing to do. Right now, the best thing is to keep quiet and calm. Everyone is talking and that is only increasing chaos. Keep calm, people are working out the situation. We have no idea about the ground realities. None of us knows what it feels like to be in riots or in situation like that. It's horrible and devastating. We shouldn't indulge in such talks right now." ## At the launch, Shetty was accompanied by Akshay Kumar, along with Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, who play Bajirao Singham in "Singham" and Sangram Bhalerao in "Simmba" respectively -- namely the two other supercops in the filmmaker's Bollywood cop universe. ## "Sooryavanshi" co-producer Karan Johar and lead actress Katrina Kaif were also present at the launch. ## The film is slated to release on March 24. ## For more and the latest news about Bollywood

Mahie Gill wishes to reunite with 'Dev.D' maker Anurag Kashyap

Mumbai, March 2 (IANS) Bollywood actress Mahie Gill shot to fame playing the modern-day Paro in Anurag Kashyap's new-age "Devdas" adaptation of 2009. She says she wishes to work with the filmmaker again but is too introverted to convey her interest to him. ## "If I analyze it you might just find it weird. I am an introverted person who does not do much PR exercise to maintain visibility, at a time when people are doing more PR than actual work. At the same time I am passionate about work. This is a weird combination that I have as an actor. No matter what films and projects I get, I have earned my fame from the film 'Dev D'. I admire Anurag Kashyap as a filmmaker and wish to collaborate in the future. But I do not know how to tell him that. There are several other filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani, Imtiaz Ali, Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag Basu and so many of them I wish to work with," Mahie told IANS. ## "I feel if I call them to say, 'give me work, I want to collaborate with you', I would be bothering them. I am socially awkward and that is why I only get work in an organic manner," said the actress who plays a crucial character in her latest release "Doordarshan". ## Mahie has impressed with roles in films such as "Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster", "Gulaal", "Paan Singh Tomar" and web series such as "Apharan: Sabka Katega" and "Posham Pa". Asked to choose one character of hers that has created an impact in her mind, she replied: "Usually, I am a happy-go-lucky person and really do not get a hangover of my characters once shooting is over. But so far, there have been a few roles that emotionally took a toll. One of them was 'Posham Pa', where a mother is a serial killer, and that is her profession! There was another film called 'Not A Love Story' and that was another character that impacted me badly," shared the actress. ## For more and the latest news about Bollywood, stay tuned to us.

Jennifer Lopez on her 'Hustlers' Oscar snub

Los Angeles, March 2 (IANS) Actress Jennifer Lopez says she was sad when she failed to get an Oscar nomination for her movie 'Hustlers'. ## The actress opened up on her snub at this year's Oscars during a discussion with Oprah Winfrey, reports variety.com. ## "I was a little sad because there was a lot of build up to it. There were so many articles. I got so many good notices - more than ever in my career - and there was a lot of ‘She's going to get nominated for an Oscar. It's going to happen; if she doesn't, you're crazy'. I'm reading all the articles going, ‘Oh my God, could this happen?' And then it didn't and I was like, ‘Ouch.' It was a little bit of a letdown," she said. ## Many expected the "Hustlers" star to have her name called out during this year's nominations for supporting actress, but Lopez was missing from the list. Kathy Bates ("Richard Jewell"), Laura Dern ("Marriage Story"), Scarlett Johansson ("Jojo Rabbit"), Florence Pugh ("Little Women") and Margot Robbie ("Bombshell") made the cut instead, with Dern taking home the award. ## She opened up about the snub at Winfrey's "2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour" on Saturday. Lopez also admitted she felt like she let her close friends down. ## "Most of my team has been with me for years - 20, 25 years - and I think they had a lot of hopes on that and they wanted it, too. So I felt like I let everyone down a little bit," she said. ## Despite the disappointing Oscar results, Lopez earned nominations at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Indie Spirit Awards for her role as Ramona in "Hustlers". ## "You realise you want people's validation. You want people to say you did a good job, and I realised, ‘No, you don't need that. You do this because you love it," she said, adding: "I don't need this award to tell me I'm enough." ## Directed by Lorene Scafaria, "Hustlers", a heist thriller, is based on a 2015 "New York" magazine article by Jessica Pressler. The film is about a group of strippers in New York City who begin to drug stock traders and business honchos who visit their club, in order to steal their money. The story is set against the backdrop of the 2008 recession. ## For more and the latest news abut Hollywood, stay tuned to us.

Daytime sleepiness among the elderly may indicate cancer risk

New York, March 2 (IANS) Older people who experience daytime sleepiness even after having adequate sleep at night may be at the risk of developing new medical conditions, including diabetes, cancer, and high blood pressure, says a study. ## The condition called hypersomnolence is defined as excessive daytime sleepiness even after having seven or more hours of sleep. ## It can be debilitating for some people, affecting the way that they perform at work and in other daily activities. ## "Paying attention to sleepiness in older adults could help doctors predict and prevent future medical conditions," said study author Maurice Ohayon of Stanford University in California. ## "Older adults and their family members may want to take a closer look at sleeping habits to understand the potential risk for developing a more serious medical condition," said Ohayon. ## The study involved 10,930 people. About 34 percent of the participants were 65 years or older. ## The findings are scheduled to be presented at the American Academy of Neurology's 72nd annual meeting to be held in Toronto from April 25 to May 1. ## For the study, the researchers interviewed participants over the phone two times, three years apart. In the first interview, 23 percent of people over 65 met the criteria for excessive sleepiness. ## In the second interview, 24 percent reported excessive sleepiness. Of those, 41 percent said the sleepiness was a chronic problem. ## The study found that people who reported sleepiness in the first phone interview had a 2.3 times greater risk of developing diabetes or high blood pressure three years later than those who did not experience sleepiness. ## They were also twice as likely to develop cancer. ## Of the 840 people who reported sleepiness at the first interview, 52 people, or 6.2 percent, developed diabetes compared to 74 people, or 2.9 percent of those who were never sleepy during the day. ## Also, of the 840 people who reported sleepiness, 20 people, or 2.4 percent, developed cancer compared to 21 people, or 0.8 percent of those who were never sleepy during the day. ## People who reported daytime sleepiness during both interviews had a 2.5 times greater risk of developing heart disease. Those who reported sleepiness only in the second interview were 50 percent more likely to also have diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue, such as arthritis, tendinitis, and lupus, than those who did not have daytime sleepiness. ## For more and the latest news about Lifestyle, stay tuned to us.
