Pawan Kalyan's 'Pink' remake has no women on first-look poster

Chennai, March 3 (IANS) The first-look poster of Pawan Kalyan's much-awaited film 'Vakeel Saab' was released yesterday. While fans, including the superstar's actor nephews Ram Charan and Sai Dharam Tej, have heaped praises, film lovers seemed to think otherwise. ## For the uninformed, "Vakeel Saab" is the official remake of the Hindi film "Pink", which is basically about how three young women are implicated in a crime, following which an elderly lawyer with bipolar disorder (played by Amitabh Bachchan) gets them acquitted. ## Given that the central characters of the story are women and the plot speaks about women's consent, many on social media cannot get over the fact that the first-look poster has totally done away with the female characters and solely features Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan. ## The poster features Pawan Kalyan seated in a relaxed posture, holding a book in hand and wearing sunglasses. ## Film lovers were quick to call out the Tollywood film industry for the misrepresentation, and some cinephiles even wondered if the film is set in a 'resort'. ## Directed by Sriram Venu of "Ninnu Kori" fame, the film is produced by Boney Kapoor and Dil Raju. Last year Boney Kapoor produced "Nerkonda Paarvai", the Tamil version of "Pink", which starred Ajith Kumar. ## "Vakeel Saab" will mark Pawan Kalyan's return into films after he decided to start a political career as chief of the Jana Sena Party. ## For more and the latest news about Tollywood, stay tuned to us.

Ranveer Singh very easy guy to work: '83' co-actor Saqib Saleem

Mumbai, March 3 (IANS) Actor Saqib Saleem, who will next be seen onscreen in '83', can't stop gushing about the film's superstar hero Ranveer Singh. ## Kabir Khan's "83" is about India's first-ever World Cup victory of 1983. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev, who captained India, while Saqib essays Mohinder Amarnath, vice-captain of the underdog team that went on to become world champions that year. Amarnath, who was popularly known as Jimmy to teammates, was a close friend of Kapil. Asked how his equation with Ranveer was while playing the real-life buddy cricketers, Saqib said: "Ranveer is such an easy guy that we didn't have to work on it. It just came so naturally because he is just a loving and open guy. He comes to you with arms open to hug you all the time, so he is that warm guy. I don't think we had to work on that equation at all." ## Saqib added: "He made it very easy. I have to give him credit where it is due that he is one of the nicest and most co-operative co-stars anybody can work with. He is not only a good actor but he makes sure that the other actor also gives his 200 per cent. He always used to discuss scenes with other actors. So, he is very much alive in every scene and it really helped me while working with him." ## Saqib interacted extensively with Jimmy Amarnath while preparing for his role. "I used to irritate him a lot. I have had long chats with him. When we were training in Dharamshala for 10 days so, Jimmy sir was there for a week. I would have one-on-one interactions with him from six in the morning till whenever he wanted to sleep. I could ask him any and everything under the sun," the actor recalled, while interacting with the media after having a cricket chat session in the women's day week in Mumbai. ## Apart from "83", Saqib is also working in Apoorva Lakhia's spy thriller web series "Raftaar" along with Shreya Pilgaonkar. "Right now, the show has not been announced, so we should wait for the official announcement. That ('Raftaar') is not the name of the series. It has a new title. We should wait for it," he said. ## "83" also features Deepika Padukone plays Kapil's wife Romi. Tahir Raj Bhasin is cast as Sunil Gavaskar while the film also features Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, Jiiva and Sahil Khattar in other important roles. ## The film is jointly produced by Kabir Khan, Phantom Films, Deepika Padukone, Sajid Nadiadwala and Vishnu Vardhan Induri, and co-distributed by Reliance Entertainment. ## For more and the latest news about Bollywood, stay tuned to us.

Even little drinking can weaken bones of people with HIV

New York, March 3 (IANS) Any level of alcohol consumption for people living with HIV can weaken bones, raising the risk of osteoporosis, a new study has said. ## The researchers from the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) and School of Medicine (BUSM) did not find an amount of alcohol consumption that appeared 'safe' for bone metabolism in people living with HIV. ## "As you get older, your ability to maintain adequate bone formation declines. These findings suggest that for people with HIV, alcohol may make this more difficult," said Dr Theresa W. Kim, assistant professor at BUSM in a paper published in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research. ## Low bone density is common among people living with HIV, even those who have successfully suppressed their viral loads with antiretroviral therapy. ## The finding highlights an under-recognized circumstance in which people with HIV infection often find themselves. ## "Their viral load can be well controlled by efficacious medications while other health conditions and risks that commonly co-occur -- like substance use and other medical conditions -- are less well-addressed," said Dr Richard Saitz, professor of community health sciences at BUSPH. ## The researchers used data from 198 participants in the Boston ARCH cohort that included people living with HIV and current or past alcohol or drug use disorder. ## For the current study, the researchers analyzed participants' blood samples, looking at biomarkers associated with bone metabolism (a life-long process of absorbing old bone tissue and creating new bone tissue) and a biomarker associated with recent alcohol consumption. ## "If I were counseling a patient who was concerned about their bone health, besides checking vitamin D and recommending exercise, I would caution them about alcohol use," said Kim. ## For more and the news about Lifestyle, stay tuned to us.

Brie Larson: I am an introvert

Los Angeles, March 3 (IANS) Actress Brie Larson says she is an introvert but doesn't hold back when she gets in front of the camera. That's one of the reasons she connected with her 'Captain Marvel' co-star Lashana Lynch.## "I am an introvert, but I'm super open in scene work. I don't hold back in that, and she doesn't either, so it was a really interesting experience. The two of us did a chemistry read together and it was pretty vibe-y from the beginning. Lashana's a badass and really special, so it was easy to connect with her. We were spending so much time together hanging out that we developed a real bond through it," Larson said.## The Oscar-winning actress broke the misconception that female superheroes can't hold strong on their own at the box office when her "Captain Marvel" had a smooth take-off in the superhero universe last year.## The project introduced the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) first standalone, female-franchise title character, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, essayed by Larson. It followed Danvers' journey as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes.## The film joined its superhero counterparts ("Avengers: Infinity War", "Black Panther", "The Avengers", "Captain America: Civil War", "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Iron Man 3") in the 'billion-dollar' club. It will air in India on March 8 on Star Movies.## Talking about taking on the landmark role, she said: "There was a scene where two male characters were talking about my character and they called me a 'woman' and I realized that in the past if I would have read a script written by a man it would have been 'girl', and I had to take a step back and go 'oh my gosh, I'm 28 years old and I'm used to being referred to as a girl'. Those little things and big things come from this script being passed through the hands of women and being written by women. They're just slight things, and I realized it changed the way I viewed myself."##

Did the thought came across in his mind to make "Sooryavanshi" while he was shooting for 'Simmba'? Shetty replied: "I didn't think much about it. I knew it ('Simmba') will work and we will start another film on similar lines. I can show off by giving a long lecture on it but I felt that I should take this franchise forward and people will like it, so that's how I made it."## Asked if he took inputs from Maharashtra Police while making "Sooryavanshi", the filmmaker said: "We did a lot of research. Many police officers helped us while making this film, and we acknowledge their contribution in the opening credits. I feel like I have created a brand for cop films. We just need to tell them that we are shooting for a certain film and they are instantly ready to help us.## "Sooryavanshi" is directed by Rohit Shetty and written by Sajid-Farhad. Earlier, I was an admirer of her beauty but after this film, I have become an admirer of her acting. She has done a brilliant job in this film. When she started off, she didn't know a single word of Hindi but today she is working with big stars of this industry," said Akshay, at the trailer launch of "Sooryavanshi" also attended by Katrina, along with Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, who have very special cameos in the film as Bajirao Singham of the "Singham" films and Sangram Bhalerao of "Simmba" respectively. I hope that everyone will like this film. Ajay (Devgn) is an old friend. We both started our careers together. Both of us were competing for his first film 'Phool Aur Kaante'. I was the first choice it but then he (Ajay Devgn) replaced me. We have done many films together," he said.## Akshay has played a police officer in several films. How does it feel to play a new cop avatar in his latest? "It feels nice. It's not just about the police uniform, but whenever I wear any uniform -- be it of an Army officer, a Navy officer or Air Force office -- it feels very nice. There is dignity attached to every uniform. I feel very fortunate that we (actors) get the opportunity to do various kinds of roles in our career, so I feel very proud of it," he replied.## There is a line in the trailer that Akshay's utters, which goes: "This work will be done by the one and only kameena Sangram Bhalerao".
