Salman Khan Confirms His Theater Chain 'Salman Talkies' In Small Towns Is In The Works

Mumbai, November 23 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has often shared his love for theaters, especially for single-screen cinemas. Before the covid-19 pandemic, the superstar was planning to launch his own theater chain in small towns, however, the pandemic put the plans on hold. ## However, as things started getting to normalcy and theaters across the country have reopened, Salman Khan revealed in a recent interview that his project Salman Talkies is still in the works. Salman confirmed that he indeed had plans to open up theatres and hopefully, it will be sometime soon, according to News18. ## "We were planning it but everything was put on hold. Slowly we will get back to it, but definitely someday. We had planned to open them up in smaller towns where people didn’t have access to theatres. Not here in cities like Mumbai", Salman told TOI. ## According to a 2018 report by Mumbai Mirror (via News18), Salman Talkies was going to be a chain of theatres where tickets would be tax-free and available at subsidized rates and free for children from underprivileged backgrounds. The actor had also met several producers, distributors, and exhibitors to execute his plan and understand the market for theatre in a better way. ## The report had mentioned that the chain was expected to flag off in Maharashtra and later expanded to other states over the next ten years. In India, despite being the second most populated country in the world, people in small towns don't have access to theaters. Mumbai, November 23 - The musical romantic drama film "Atrangi Re" starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush will be premiered directly on Disney Plus Hotstar on December 24. The movie was supposed to release in theaters but to the second covid-19 wave and a crowded release schedule ahead, the makers have decided to opt for digital release for the film. ## On Tuesday (November 23), the first look motion posters of the primary cast were unveiled. The motion posters feature the three actors in quirky avatars. Varun Dhawan And Kriti Sanon's 'Bhediya' Release Date Postponed To Next Year-End!

Mumbai, November 23 - Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer "Bhediya", which gearing up to release next year, is a step forward in Maddock Films' horror-comedy genre. The studio behind the successful horror-comedy films like "Stree" and "Roohi" is leaving no stone unturned to make "Bhediya" one of its a kind monster comedies with the international crew coming on board to design the action scenes and VFX. ## Directed by Amar Kaushik (Stree, Bala), "Bhediya" is currently scheduled to release on April 14, 2022. While the shooting has already been completed recently, the latest reports suggest that the release of this much-awaited has been postponed to the next year-end. ## It is said that the VFX work on "Bhediya", which is reportedly being done by Moving Picture Company (1917, The Jungle Book, The Lion King, Harry Potter), is taking longer than expected, which resulted in the postponement of the film by at least 6 months. ## "It's a new genre, and the team is looking to create a big-screen experience with not just the never seen before visuals, but also some unique sound effects meant for the cinema halls. Box Office: YRF's 'Bunty Aur Babli 2's' Poor Opening Helps 'Sooryavanshi' To Regain Momentum

Mumbai, November 20 - Yash Raj Productions' "Bunty Aur Babli 2" has had a poor opening at the box office. A sequel to the 2005's film netted just Rs. 2.60 crores [3.05 crore gross on Friday (November 19). ## Starring Saif Ali Khan, and Rani Mukerji reprising their roles from the original film alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Sharvari Wagh as a new edition, the comedy, however, was expected to open in the range of 4-5 crores, but negative reviews and word of mouth dent its chances big time. ## Overseas, Varun V. Sharma-directed grossed approx Rs. 1.25 crores, for its total worldwide gross to a decent Rs. 4.30 crores on the first day. However, the poor show of YRF's film helped "Sooryavasnhi", which is going super strong at the box office, to regain the momentum at the Indian box office. The Akshay Kumar-starrer jumped 3.16% on its 3rd Friday for Rs. 3.26 crores. This takes "Sooryavanshi's" total India net collection to a nice Rs. 169.50 crores after 15 days. ## At the worldwide box office, Rohit Shetty-directed has grossed Rs. 254 crores so far, including Rs. 54 in overseas markets. With "Bunty Aur Babli 2" is not looking to challenge much, "Sooryavanshi" eyes to earn approx Rs. 12 crores during its 3rd weekend. It is currently Akshay's 5th highest-grossing film at the India box office. Box Office: Sooryavanshi Sets Eyes On Rs. 200 Crores After Strong Second Week Finish

Mumbai, November 19 - Akshay Kumar-fronted "Sooryavanshi" is still in the race to become Bollywood's first Rs. 200 crore net collection film during the covid-19 pandemic. After finishing the first week on high, the cop-drama maintained the stronghold in the second week as well with a drop of 62% (on par with the pre-covid level) for Rs. 45.57 crores. ## Directed by hit master Rohit Shetty, "Sooryavanshi" currently stands at Rs. 166.23 crores net and Rs. 196.15 crore gross in India. Mumbai, November 18 - Actor-comedian Vir Das is getting into trouble for his monologue "I come from two Indias", which he recited at the John F Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, a few days ago. Mumbai, November 16 - It took one big shot for the Bollywood film industry to regain its lost kingdom. Akshay Kumar-starrer "Sooryavanshi", which is the biggest Bollywood film in the last 18 months, has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2021 at the worldwide box office. ## Rohit Shetty-directed cop drama has grossed ₹ 234 crores worldwide over 11 days and surpassed Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil blockbuster "Master", which grossed approx ₹ 223 crores at the worldwide box office. "Sooryavanshi" has netted ₹ 155.73 crores, which is the highest for an Indian film in 2021. ## Internationally, "Sooryavanshi" has grossed ₹ 50.37 crores so far, which is again the biggest overseas box office number for an Indian film in the current year. Rajinikanth's "Annaatthe" is at the second position with approx ₹ 45 crores overseas.
