Arun Govil To Play Lord Ram In Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi Starrer 'Oh My God 2'?

Mumbai, October 19 - Arun Govil, known for playing Lord Ram in the iconic and epic tv serial, Ramayan, has reportedly been roped in to reprise the role in Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer "Oh My God" sequel. Govil has become synonymous with the character of Lord Ram after playing the iconic role in Ramanand Sagar's 1987 TV show. ## Directed by Amit Rai and produced by Ashwin Varde and Akshay Kumar, "Oh My God 2" is the follow-up to the 2012 blockbuster film starring Akshay and Paresh Rawal in the leading roles. The sequel will feature Akshay reprising his role of Lord Krishna with Pankaj Tripathi stepping into the shoes of Paresh Rawal. Yami Gautam is said to be the leading lady in the film. ## According to India Today, Akshay Kumar was keen to bring Arun Govil on board to play Lord Ram. "There is no other face more recognizable to play Lord Ram than Arun Govil. It was a decision that the makers took unanimously", said the source to India Today.## Meanwhile, OMG 2 will be different from the first part. While the first part was based on religious fanaticism and superstitions, the sequel will reportedly be based on the Indian education system with Pankaj Tripathi taking the center stage. The shooting of the film has started recently and is expected to begin next schedule on October 23 in Ujjain. ## Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, has several films in the pipeline. He is currently shooting for magnum opus "Ram Setu" in Ooty and will soon join OMG 2 cast. The actor recently announced his new film, Gorkha, which is based on the life of war hero Major General Ian Cardozo from the prestigious Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army. Mumbai, October 16 - Legendary filmmaker Ramesh Sippy along with dream girl Hema Malini appeared in Amitabh Bachchan hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati 13 as special guests for the 'Shaandaar Shukravaar' episode. The iconic trio remembered the good old days of "Sholay" which is considered a benchmark film in Indian cinema.## During the special episode, Sippy, who directed the iconic "Sholay" (1975) revealed that why he chose Hema Malini for the role of Basanti and how did he think about 'Jai-Veeru' played by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra respectively. ## "See, Hema Ji in her first film with me had portrayed the role of a young widow and in the second film, 'Seeta Aur Geeta', she surprised us. So, for the role of 'Basanti', I felt that no one can do it apart from her", the filmmaker told Big B. ## "Also, there was one more thing. So, there was one thing that I had thought about is that we have three superstars and if I get one more superstar, it would be difficult for me, only".## "So, then I thought I need a good actor, who does good work and becomes a team. Because when Salim-Javed suggested Amit Ji for this role, saying there's one 'Amitabh Bachchan' who's doing good work and is working with us in 'Zanjeer'. I said ok, that's good. And, then I thought that he's not a star at the moment so I won't have that problem that there's one more star on the set", he said. ## The filmmaker also said that Big B did a great job in "Anand" and then "Bombay to Goa". He also remembered the dance by Big B in a bus in the film "Bombay to Goa" and got the idea of picking Big B. "I felt this seems to be an actor who can do anything. The "Dangal" director launched the book in Mumbai on Wednesday (October 14) where he hints that he might adapt it for a feature film, "if it's something very exciting".## When asked if he would like to make a movie out of the book he had just released, he said, "It is a tough question. I think I will be very honest here; I would want to finish reading the book because for me entire story arch is really important. The end has got me more intrigued. Once I finish the book and if it is something very exciting as a story, I'd say why not".## Tiwari praised the author for his narrative, which he said was easy for readers to follow. "Satyam has taken mythology and put it in a slightly fictional place, but the book still has a lot of mythological characters who exist in our literature, such as our gods and goddesses. He has integrated both elements nicely. The place where the story is taking place is fictional, but the characters are familiar, so there is a sense of excitement and familiarity as well", he added. ## Meanwhile, the epic "Ramayana" has been in development for a long time now and some of the Oscar-winning team of artists is working on the film. Maharashtra Government Releases SOPs For Cinema Theatres

Mumbai, October 12 - The government of Maharasthra recently announced that the cinema halls and theaters would be permitted to operate from October 22, for which, the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would be released soon. ## And now, on October 11, the wait is over for the Bollywood filmmakers as the government has released the SOPs which have cleared the road for Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi" and other upcoming Bollywood biggies, which are lined up for release. ## As expected, the moviegoers will have to strictly adhere to the covid-19 guidelines such as practice social distancing, wear face masks and use sanitizers inside the theatre. The government has set a 50% occupancy cap in the cinema halls and also asked for stagger show timings so that crowding doesn't take at any point in the theatre.## The SOP has also mentioned that those who are fully vaccinated will have to show their Covid vaccination certificate. Fortunately, if one is partially or non-vaccinated, he/she can still enter the theatre, provided they show the 'safe' status on their Aarogya Setu app.## The staff of the cinema halls has been asked to check the temperature of the viewers and allow only asymptomatic individuals inside. The management of the theatres will have to sanitize the auditorium after every screening and also ensure regular and disinfection. The staff is also required to be fully vaccinated.## The government hasn't mentioned cut-off time for cinemas to operate in the SOPs which means that the night shows have been allowed. On his special day, Big B, in his latest blog post, revealed that he has terminated his contract with a paan masala brand, Kamala Pasand. ## A promo video of the brand was recently launched which inviteed criticism for Big B. Amitabh Bachchan, who is also a brand ambassador for the pulse polio campaign, was criticised for promoting the paan masala brand. In his blog, Big B revealed that he was unware of certain things about the brand and also revealed that he signed the contract with the brand without the knowledge that it categorises as "surrogate advertising". ## "From the office of Mr Amitabh Bachchan", read the statement. "Kamala Pasand - a few days after the commercial was aired, Mr. Bachchan contacted the brand and stepped out of it last week. Upon checking why this sudden move - it was revealed that when Mr. Bachchan became associated with the brand, he wasn't aware that it falls under surrogate advertising".## The statement also revealed that Amitabh Bachchan, after terminating his contract, has returned the money he received for promotional duties. However, the movie is now scheduled to hit the big screens on November 26 after director Manjrekar filmed few more scenes on Salman. ## Salman, who recently returned from Tiger 3 shoot, has been shooting for a few extra scenes. A source told mid-day, "After returning from the international schedule of Tiger 3, Salman filmed some solo dialogue scenes between October 4 and 6. The decision to add more sequences, featuring the actor, was taken jointly by Salman and Mahesh after seeing the rushes of the gangster-cop drama". ## After the latest development, "Antim" will most probably be clashing with John Abraham starrer "Satyameva Jayate 2", which has already been confirmed to release on November 26. Both the films are masala entertainers with a mass audience in mind, hence, it will be an interesting battle at the box office. SMJ2 has an edge over Antim as this John Abraham fronted has been one of the most-awaited Hindi films. Anti, on the other hand, is not a complete Salman Khan film. The actor is playing an extended cameo in the movie which is the official remake of the 2018 Marathi film Mulshi Pattern.## Salman Khan plays a Sikh cop in the film while Ayush Sharma plays a gangster.
