Arun Govil To Play Lord Ram In Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi Starrer 'Oh My God 2'?
Mumbai, October 19 - Arun Govil, known for playing Lord Ram in the iconic and epic tv serial, Ramayan, has reportedly been roped in to reprise the role in Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer "Oh My God" sequel. Govil has become synonymous with the character of Lord Ram after playing the iconic role in Ramanand Sagar's 1987 TV show. ## Directed by Amit Rai and produced by Ashwin Varde and Akshay Kumar, "Oh My God 2" is the follow-up to the 2012 blockbuster film starring Akshay and Paresh Rawal in the leading roles. The sequel will feature Akshay reprising his role of Lord Krishna with Pankaj Tripathi stepping into the shoes of Paresh Rawal. Yami Gautam is said to be the leading lady in the film. ## According to India Today, Akshay Kumar was keen to bring Arun Govil on board to play Lord Ram. "There is no other face more recognizable to play Lord Ram than Arun Govil. It was a decision that the makers took unanimously", said the source to India Today.## Meanwhile, OMG 2 will be different from the first part. While the first part was based on religious fanaticism and superstitions, the sequel will reportedly be based on the Indian education system with Pankaj Tripathi taking the center stage. The shooting of the film has started recently and is expected to begin next schedule on October 23 in Ujjain. ## Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, has several films in the pipeline. He is currently shooting for magnum opus "Ram Setu" in Ooty and will soon join OMG 2 cast. The actor recently announced his new film, Gorkha, which is based on the life of war hero Major General Ian Cardozo from the prestigious Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army. Meanwhile, Akshay is gearing up for the release of Sooryavanshi, which is slated to hit big screens on November 5. ## Stay tuned...
