Filmfare Reacts To Kangana Ranaut's Remarks Against It

Mumbai, August 22 - Filmfare magazine has reacted to National Award-winning actress, Kangana Ranaut's remarks against it. The magazine said in a statement that Kangana's remarks, in which she threatened to sue Filmfare nominating her for this year's Filmfare awards against her objection, are malicious. ## It pains us at Filmfare, today, to be subjected to unwarranted malicious remarks by Ms. Kangana Ranaut", Filmfare said in a statement. "For over six decades, Filmfare Awards, and Filmfare, at large, has been a platform that celebrates and honours talent in the Film industry impartially and with utmost transparency. It is our strong ethic that has helped us in gaining the trust of our audiences and the film industry. ## Kangana alleged that Filmfare invited her to the award ceremony and wanted to give her the Best Actress award. Filmfare, however, said, "as is customary during the awards, Filmfare's Executive Editor informed Ms. Ranaut about her nomination in the Best Actor in a Leading Role, Female category and asked for her address to send across the invitation". ## The magazine also posted the message which it claimed to be the actual message it send to the actress and clarified that it wasn't about her giving the award or asking for any performance. The message read, "Hello Kangana, heartiest congratulations on your nomination for the Filmfare Awards. It’ll be a pleasure to have you there, do confirm your presence at the awards ceremony on August 30 at Jio World Convention Centre at BKC, Mumbai. It’ll help us plot your seats. P.S. Please send us your residential address so that we can send you the invite. Mumbai, August 21 - National Award-winning actress and filmmaker, Kangana Ranaut has decided to sue Filmfare magazine after she got nominated for the Best Actress category for "Thalaivii". Kangana has a long history of controversies and is known for making bold statements. ## On Sunday (August 21), the "Queen" actress took to Instagram stories and announced that she is going to sue the magazine. The actress claimed that Filmfare wants her to give the award for "Thalaivii", despite knowing that she has boycotted the Filmfare awards since 2014. ## "I've banned unethical, corrupt, and totally unfair practices like @filmfare since 2014, but since I have been getting many calls from them for attending their award function this year as they want to give me an award for Thalaivii... I am shocked to know that they are still nominating me. Bollywood Is Rejected Because of Its Arrogance, Says Vivek Agnihotri

Mumbai, August 21 - Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri said that the reason behind Bollywood's rejection is its arrogance. The "The Kashmir Files" director was speaking in response to director Anurag Kashyap's remark on his film during a recent interview in which he said that TKF shouldn't be chosen for India's official entry for Oscars 2022. ## The selection for India's Oscars entry is made by the Film Federation of India (FFI), the apex body of film producers, distributors, exhibitors, and studio owners, and since 1957, when Mehboob Khan's 'Mother India' lost by just a vote, all of two Indian films - Mira Nair's "Salaam Bombay" (1988) and the Aamir Khan-starrer "Lagaan" (2001) have made it to the Oscar nominations shortlist.## It is possible that "The Kashmir Files" may not be picked as India's entry but Vivek Agnihotri has reasons to feel offended by Kashyap's remark. "Bollywood is suffering today because you are trying to pass on your own failure to an individual because his films work", he said. ## "Go to any middle-class, urban, semi-urban household and interview them and you will find how people hate the arrogance, glossy lifestyle, and the disconnect of Bollywood with real-life audiences".## Agnihotri said that people have seen through "all this hypocrisy, arrogance, and this flashy, flamboyant lifestyle, paid organized publicity campaigns... and now they are not willing to accept it, which is a good thing, which has made Bollywood rethink the ideology they follow".## "They are still running a campaign against 'The Kashmir Files' Oscars submission. Box Office: Laal Singh Chaddha And Raksha Bandhan Collect Below 100 Crores Combined In The First Week

Mumbai, August 19 - Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar's Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, respectively have completed an extended opening week at the box office and numbers are something that industry had never thought about. ## The combined collection of both the films is around 90 crores net, which is not even close to what trade had predicated before the release. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", which is the remake of the Hollywood classic hit "Forrest Gump", has been a bigger disappointment as its first-week collection (~ 50 cr) couldn't even cross the opening day numbers of Aamir Khan's last film "Thugs of Hindostan" which scored 50.75 crores net in 2018. ## Directed by Advait Chandan, the overseas collection of the film is somehow respectable with close to 50 crores gross (not final) but the domestic box office is forgettable, to say the least. The negativity around the film before its release also played a massive role in its disastrous fate even though the reception for the film was mixed. ## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted "Raksha Bandhan" too couldn't get going despite the positive word of mouth. The stakes for the film were low but it still performed underwhelmingly, especially knowing the fact that it has a perfect holiday period to outshine the underfire LSC. As a result, RB scored approx. 39 crores net while the overseas collection is approx. 8 crores, for the worldwide gross total of the film at 54 crores after 8 days. ## The Bollywood industry has now pinned its hopes on the next big release, which is director Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus "Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva". Scheduled for September 9 in multiple languages, the film features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy along with the cameos of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. ## Stay tuned...

Hrithik Roshan Reveals A Direct Link Between 'The Lord of the Rings' And 'Krrish'

Mumbai, August 19 - Amazon Prime Video is all set to launch its biggest series yet The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, scheduled for September 2. The series had its premiere in Mumbai on Tuesday as the entire cast of it was present. ## Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan attended the premiere and also interacted with the LOTR cast at the event organized by Prime Video. During his interaction with the star cast of the series, Hrithik revealed that it was the "Lord of The Rings" trilogy that inspired his father Rakesh Roshan to make India's original sci-fi superhero film series "Krrish". ## "He was talking about the way they've used this one great incredible idea and then had this progression which was so incredible and [asked] 'why can't we do that?'", said Roshan.## "He said 'why can't we take 'Koi... Mil Gaya' - which is one of our previous films - 'and have a progression and build on that' - and that was the birth of 'Krrish'", Roshan revealed. "If there was no 'Lord of the Rings', there'd be no 'Krrish'".## "Krrish" is India's first superhero film franchise and there have already been three films in it. "Krrish 4" is currently in the scripting stage and is likely to go on floors by the end of the next year. Laal Singh Chaddha Producers Refute Rumours About Compensation For Losses

Mumbai, August 16 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan-fronted Laal Singh Chaddha has been underwhelming so far at the box office, and reports have claimed that the producers will bear heavy losses for the same. Meanwhile, Viacom 18 Studios has denied reports about distributors demanding compensation for the dismal performance of the film. ## The producers have claimed that "Laal Singh Chaddha" has no external distributors as the studio itself is distributing the film. "There are no external distributors. It's being distributed by Viacom18 Studios, and no money is lost in the first place. The film is still running in theaters both in India & internationally. This is baseless speculation", said Ajit Andhare, CEO of Viacom 18 Studios.## It is to be noted that Aamir Khan doesn't charge an upfront fee and normally relies on backend revenue. The budget of the film is not as much as reported in the media and according to the TOI, Laal Singh Chaddha will probably break even, once ancillary revenue is taken into account. ## An exhibitor from North India said, "Most studios don't sell their territories, it is always distributed directly. Even if we try asking for the rights, it is too expensive for us. And the reports of distributors asking for money in the case of Laal Singh Chaddha is baseless as the producers are only distributors of the film".## "Laal Singh Chaddha" is the official remake of Hollywood's hit Forrest Gump. Despite performing underwhelmingly so far, LSC has scored approx. 100 crores at the worldwide box office in 5 days.
