Mixed Reactions to Sloppy Promotional Strategy of Godfather

'RRR' US Distributor Variance Films To Run Best Picture Oscar Campaign For The Movie

Mumbai, September 20 - The Film Federation of India has picked the acclaimed Gujarati film Chhello Show (Last Film Show) for India's official entry for Oscars 2023. ## The news about India's official Oscar entry has left many movie fans in India disappointed as they were hoping that SS Rajamouli's globally appreciated film RRR would get the nod from the Indian jury. The movie, however, can still get an Oscar nomination in the general category, and the USA distributor of the film, Variance Films will be running a campaign for the same. ## Variance Films president Dylan Marchetti said that "RRR" will receive a significant Best Picture campaign, but he also saw the potential for Best Original Song ("Naatu Naatu"), in addition to cinematography, production design, editing, and many other categories. ## The hashtag "#RRRforOscars" has been trending on Twitter for the past week here in India. "The only thing this news changes is one less award we can go after (Best International Film)", Marchetti said, a few hours after the Indian decision was announced (via Indiewire). "There's a dozen-plus other we can go for now. This film is the whole package".## "RRR" continues to play at theaters in Brooklyn and Philadelphia, with additional cities booked through the end of the year in the USA. "I don't think 'RRR' is the best movie from India this year", Marchetti said. "It's the best movie in the world this year. We're going to conduct ourselves accordingly".## Variance Films may be willing to run an Oscar campaign for the movie but it will require a significant and time-intensive push to keep the movie at the forefront of conversations for these categories as the season heats up. Megastar Chiranjeevi And Salman Khan's 'Godfather' Post-Theatrical Streaming Rights Sold To Netflix For Mega Price?

Hyderabad, September 20 - Megastar Chiranjeevi is getting ready for the worldwide release of his political action drama film Godfather, which also stars Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and Nayanthara in key roles. The makers have been slow regarding the promotion of the movie so far, but now looking to speed up and non-stop promotion till the release day which is on October 5. ## According to reports, the producers will release the film on their own as distributors reportedly refused to release it at the price quoted by the makers. Chiranjeevi's last film Acharya caused huge losses for the investors and now, they don't want to take risks by grabbing the movie at a high price.## Meanwhile, the makers have been able to fetch a huge deal for the film's post-theatrical streaming rights. According to Aakashavaani's social media post, Netflix has grabbed the streaming rights of "Godfather" for Rs. 57 crores for both the Telugu and Hindi versions. VT13: Varun Tej's Next Film To Be Based On Balakot Air Strike?

Toronto, September 17 - India's maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli has stressed the importance of making films by taking the essence of Hindu epics Ramayan, and Mahabharat to make the film industry strong. ## The RRR director, during the press interaction at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, said that there is a lot of emotional drama and action in the aforementioned epics and the movies on them can go beyond boundaries. ## Speaking highly about the Telugu film industry, Rajamouli said that Tollywood out of all other film industries has made more films by taking the essence of "Ramayana" and "Mahabharata". ## He further said that if the Telugu industry continues to make more films on these epics, then it needn't be restricted to only Telugu people and can go beyond the state and the country. ## Giving the example of his path-breaking film series Baahubali, Rajamouli said that it was the film that broke all barriers, and then slowly people started realizing that the Indian film industry is not all about Bollywood, but there are other industries, particularly the Tollywood. ## Lately, Bollywood too seems to have realized the importance of making films on "Ramayana" and "Mahabharta" which provide wholesome larger-than-life experiences. Prabhas' 'Project K' Is A Futuristic Sci-Fi Actioner With A 'Mahabharta' Connection

Hyderabad, September 15 - Superstar Prabhas is currently working on two of the most expensive and anticipated Indian films - Adipurush and Project K. ## The "Adipurush" shoot is done and the movie is ready for release on January 12, 2023. However, director Nag Ashwin's "Project K", co-starring Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, is only half done and the remaining shoot will be completed by the first quarter of 2023. ## "Project K" is touted to be the biggest Indian action spectacle which is set in the future and revolves around the timeline of World War 3. It is a futuristic action drama on the line of the time travel concept. ## If reports are to be believed, the movie has a strong connection with the Hindu epic "Mahabharata", where Amitabh Bachchan's character is inspired by Ashwathama. In Mahabharata, Ashwathama became a Chiranjivi (immortal) due to a curse given to him by Lord Krishna.## "Project K" will reportedly have as many as 5 prolonged action blocks and in a one-of-its-kind strategy, the producers have hired multiple action directors to design the epic battle to unfold on the screen. Amitabh Bachchan will also be seen doing proper action sequences alongside Prabhas in the film. The movie is being shot like a Hollywood film with a blue and green screen set up, according to Pinkvilla. ## That's not all, every schedule of the film is followed by a break since the director Nag Ashwin, and his team is working on the editing of the sequences shot in every leg of the shoot, to make sure they create something magical that will be remembered for a long long time. ## The movie is being produced by C. Nani's Most Expensive Film 'Dasara' Theatrical Rights Sold For Record Price

Prabhas' Romantic Actioner 'Varsham' To Re-Release On His Birthday?

Hyderabad, September 10 - Superstar Prabhas' 2004 romantic actioner Varsham is getting ready for re-release with remastered version. The movie, directed by Sobhan, will most likely to re-release on Prabhas birthday on October 23 or a day before. ## Produced by M.S. Raju under the banner of Sumanth Art Productions banner, Varsham was the third highest-grossing Telugu film of 2004. It also starred Trisha Krishnan, and Gopichand along with Prakash Raj and Chandra Mohan, among others. The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. ## Varsham was remade in multiple other languages, including Hindi as "Baaghi", starring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor. The Hindi version also became a huge hit and paved the way for two more films in the franchise. "Baaghi 4" will also be made in near future. ## Meanwhile, "Varsham" is not the only film of Prabhas that will be re-release on his birthday. Vijay Deverakonda To Do A Fantasy Film With Producer Dil Raju?

Hyderabad, September 10 - Vijay Deverakonda, whose much-hyped sports action drama film Liger bombed at the box office, has resumed the shoot of Shiva Nirvana's romantic comedy Kushi, co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu. He was also doing JGM with director Puri Jagnnadh, but that movie has reportedly been put on hold. ## Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, Vijay Deverakonda is in talks with producer Dil Raju for a fantasy film. It is said that the producer had planned a fantasy film with VD in the direction of Indraganti Mohan Krishna a couple of years ago. ## Mohan Krishna's last film was Nani-starrer "V", which was released directly on the OTT platform. Dil Raju was reportedly so optimistic that Indraganti would deliver a massive hit with Nani's film, however, the movie did receive poor reviews and was a digital flop. ## Dil Raju is now looking to revive the film with some other directors and he is reportedly in consultations with VD to work on further plans. Harish Shankar is one of the names that is being discussed to direct the film. ## Vijay Deverakonda, meanwhile, will also do a film with Sukumar who will soon start the shooting of the second part of Allu Arjun's "Pushpa - The Rule". Los Angeles, September 7 - The maverick Indian filmmaker, SS Rajamouli is making his way to his first-ever US festival. The filmmaker will be hosted by Los Angeles' Beyond Festival, which has announced today the presence of RRR filmmaker as part of a special Tollywood programming, "From Tollywood to Hollywood". ## Built-in partnership with the American Cinematheque, the special programming will honor the revolutionary Indian director, featuring Rajamouli's multiple films presented in their native Telugu language with English subtitles, including Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Eega, Maryada Ramanna, and Magadheera. ## According to the Los Angeles Times, the first-ever official US festival visit of Rajamouli could also kick-start "RRR's" Oscars campaign, which has been hyped heavily by the Hollywood media. Powerstar Pawan Kalyan's Film With Director Surender Reddy To Start Next Year!

Hyderabad, September 7 - On the occasion of Power star Pawan Kalyan's birthday last year, director Surender Reddy announced his maiden film with the superstar. It was supposed to roll out in early 2022, however, due to unknown reasons, further development on the movie never took place. ## It has been more than a year since the movie, tentatively titled PSPK 29, was announced. Reports claimed that the movie has been shelved over creative differences but that is not true as the producer of the film has finally provided the next course of development for the movie. ## Ram Talluri, who will produce this action drama film, recently said in an interview that the movie will happen for sure and that it has not been called off. 'Liger' Distributor Backs The Movie Despite Heavy Losses

Hyderabad, September 5 - Vijay Deverakonda's sports action drama film, Liger has tanked at the box office. This resulted in heavy losses to the distributors who bought the movie at high prices. The Puri Jagannadh-directed film was made on a big budget and was expected to do well at the box office, but that didn't happen. ## "Liger" opened to disastrous reviews from critics who slammed the movie left, right, and center, as if the movie didn't deserve to exist. Because of the critics' reviews, the movie couldn't gather any momentum after the opening day and ended up with just a 20% recovery of total investment. ## With such a poor response to the movie, it would be fair to assume that the distributors across languages are upset with the makers.
