Kantara Chapter 1 Makers Spark Dispute In Hindi Belt With Unreasonable Showcasing Demands Against Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari

Mumbai, September 26 - The Dussehra 2025 box office clash between South biggie Kantara Chapter 1 and the much-awaited Bollywood romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari seems to be taking an ugly turn after the makers demand exclusive excessive showcasing for the Kantara prequel. With less than a week to go before the release, the makers of both films are leaving no stone unturned to make their films reach the maximum audience, and in between, a dispute over showcasing has started making headlines. According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, AA Films, the distributors of Kanatar 2, have sent an email to the exhibitors regarding their requirement for the shows. It is said that "they have demanded that all shows in single-screen and 12 shows in two-screen cinemas. The latter also amounts to all shows; they mention the same clearly in the mail to avoid any confusion. Shockingly, they have also asked for 18 shows in three-screen multiplexes, which, in other words, also amounts to every show." The Kantara makers are very well aware that Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar is releasing on the same day, yet they have asked for such a showcase in the Hindi belt, which is not just unreasonable, but also laughable. An exhibitor, on condition of anonymity, told Bollywood Hungama, "I don't agree with this unreasonable demand. We understand that Kantara is a highly anticipated film. But then, even Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also looks like a fun entertainer, which will attract family audiences and youth. Hence, I'd like to play that film as well." The report further states that AA Films has demanded 100% shows in IMAX properties, along with a higher percentage of shows in theatres with 4-screens and beyond. It needs to be seen how things turn out, but at the moment, it doesn't look like the game is fair. Stay tuned...

From Dangal To Lokah: The Highest-Grossing Films Across Six Major Indian Film Industries

Mumbai, September 20 - The Indian cinema is the most diverse in the world with its vast landscape of languages and cultures, each with its own set of superstars, styles, and record-breaking blockbusters. Over the years, the country has delivered rich results at the box office, not just with the mainstream Hindi cinema, but also with regional cinema, where films across different genres unlocked new potential. As the Indian cinema continues to evolve and come closer than ever, there have been certain films which have not only ruled their regional box office but also established themselves as benchmarks for their respective industries. Here's a look at the current all-time biggest hits from six major Indian film industries, which have set benchmarks for their other films to achieve. Hindi Cinema – Dangal (2016) Aamir Khan's sports drama Dangal (2016) remains the undisputed king of not just Bollywood, but of Indian cinema. With a staggering 2070 crore worldwide gross, the wrestling drama became a global sensation, largely due to its phenomenal run in China, which contributed over 60% to its total collection. Years later, no Indian film has managed to surpass its worldwide record. Telugu Cinema – Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) While Dangal remains the biggest Indian blockbuster, it was director S.S. Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) that changed the game for Indian cinema. Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty, the epic fantasy collected 1788 crore worldwide and showcased the true potential of Telugu films and also broke the language barrier to emerge as a pan-India spectacle, with a large contribution from the Hindi language. Kannada Cinema – KGF Chapter 2 (2022) Kannada cinema was largely limited to its home state before the Yash-fronted KGF franchise changed the game for it. And it was KGF Chapter 2 (2022) that proved that Kannada cinema could dominate globally. With its raw action, style, and storytelling, the film amassed an extraordinary 1230 crore worldwide, cementing itself as the industry's biggest blockbuster to date. Tamil Cinema – 2.0 (2018) The Tamil film industry has failed to match its fellow Southern industries in terms of potential, but it has seen a continuous rise over the last few years. However, despite multiple 500 crores blockbusters, it is Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's sci-fi extravaganza 2.0 (2018), directed by Shankar, which is still the biggest Tamil grosser to date. The film, packed with cutting-edge VFX, grossed β‚Ή691 crore worldwide. Malayalam Cinema – Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra (2025) The Malayalam cinema has been on an unreal rise for the last few years. From being limited to the regional barrier to breaking into the Pan-India market, the industry has made sure that it competes with the giants of Indian cinema. And it can't be a prouder moment for the industry that a female-led film is leading the charge. Kalyani Priyadarshan's superhero saga Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, with a 267+ crore worldwide gross, has become the industry's highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing big names like Mohanlal's Empuraan. Punjabi Cinema – Jatt & Juliet 3 (2024) The Punjabi film industry has been struggling to deliver results at the box office due to various reasons. It has scored only two 100 crores grossers, with Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic comedy Jatt & Juliet 3 (2024) being the biggest of them. It became the second-ever Punjabi movie, after Carry On Jatta 3 (2023), to cross the 100 crore milestone, grossing 102.60 crore worldwide. Stay tuned...

Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi's Jolly LLB 3 Day 1 Early Estimates: Takes A Double-Digit Opening

Mumbai, September 19 - Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi's much-awaited courtroom comedy drama Jolly LLB 3 has taken a promising start at the domestic box office. The film, which marks the return of the popular franchise, started on a decent note in the morning shows, but quickly picked up pace as the day progressed. By afternoon, the film showed positive trends, and the momentum truly kicked in towards the evening and night shows, resulting in a better-than-expected first-day figure. What initially seemed like a 9-10 crore start has now shaped up into a good 12+ crore opening. According to early estimates, the film has collected 12-13 crore net on Day 1, and if the single-screen contribution comes out equally good, the movie even stands a chance to surpass Jolly LLB 2's opening day figure of 13.20 crore. That would be a significant feat, considering the gap between instalments and the current box office scenario. The initial word of mouth for Jolly LLB 3 seems to be positive, with audiences appreciating the mix of humour, drama, and courtroom sequences. If this reception sustains, the movie is well-positioned to score big over its first weekend. The opening day trend and advance booking for Saturday and Sunday suggest that the film could race towards a 50 crore opening weekend, which will be a good result. Stay tuned...

Jolly LLB 3 Review: Critics Weigh In On Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi's Legal Comedy Drama

Mumbai, September 19 – The much-awaited Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, has finally hit the big screens, and it seems one of Bollywood's most loved courtroom comedy-drama franchises has hit another bull's eye. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the film brings back the clash of two eccentric yet determined lawyers while mixing humour, satire, and hard-hitting social commentary. Produced by Star Studios18 and Kangra Talkies, early reviews suggest that Jolly LLB 3 has managed to capture the essence of its predecessors while also attempting to raise the stakes with sharper dialogues and bigger courtroom face-offs. The critics are hailing it as a hard-hitting and eye-opener, while giving high marks for its comic sense. The iconic franchise brings back the original cast from both films, including Akshay and Arshad as Jollys, alongside Saurabh Shukla as fan favourite judge, Sundarlal Tripthi, Amrita Rao and Huma Qureshi, while Gajraj Rao is the new addition. #OneWordReview...#JollyLLB3: POWERFUL.Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐️#JollyLLB3 is a complete package – humour, satire, drama, emotions, and above all, a message that hits home… This #JollyvsJolly clash is thoroughly entertaining! #JollyLLB3ReviewDirector #SubhashKapoor knows the pulse of… pic.twitter.com/AwkOHQe2Uz— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) September 18, 2025 JOLLY LLB 3 - HONEST, HARD-HITTING & HILARIOUS - 4 STARS (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)#JollyLLB3 is one of those rare films whose second half lands better than the first. #SubhashKapoor packages the sensitive subject of the film with humour, drama and some extremely tender moments. Jolly LLB 3 Box Office Preview/Day 1 Expectations: Double-Digit Opening On The Cards

Mumbai, September 18 - Superstar Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi's much-awaited courtroom comedy-drama Jolly LLB 3 is all set to hit the big screens tomorrow, amid decent expectations. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the film brings both the Jollys together for the first time, which has increased the stakes and expectations. The film's advance booking has progressed slowly but with a steady pace, as it has so far collected around 2.15 crores gross (without block seats) for the opening day. With the last few hours left for the release, the momentum in the sales is picking up, and it is expected to surpass or come near the advance of Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par (3.31 crores for Day 1). To put things into perspective, Sitaare Zameen Par had collected 10.70 crores net on its opening day with 3.31 crores gross in advance sales on around 3300 screens. Jolly LLB 3 is reportedly releasing in around 3500 screens, and with minimal competition from Bollywood films, it is expected to fare better than SZP. As said, the pre-sales of Jolly LLB 3 are likely to be around the Aamir Khan-starrer, which puts it on course to take the opening in the range of 11-12 crores net. The franchise value is expected to boost the spot booking, and if the reports are positive, it might even challenge Jolly LLB 2's opening of 13.20 crores net, but it is something which depends on how things go on the release day. Early trends suggest that Jolly LLB 3 is poised to score Akshay Kumar one of his better openings in recent times. A double-digit debut looks assured, with the possibility of scaling higher depending on spot bookings and word of mouth. If the content delivers, the weekend collections could see a healthy surge, setting the stage for another successful outing for the popular legal comedy franchise. Stay tuned...

Sunny Kaushal and Yami Gautam's Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga Sequel In Works For Theatrical Release; Details Revealed

Mumbai, September 18 - In 2023, Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal teamed up for Maddock Films' heist thriller Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga. The movie was directly premiered on Netflix, and went on to become one of the most-watched Indian films on the streamer. Directed by Ajay Singh, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga received praise for being a one-of-a-kind heist thriller, and struck a chord with the audiences. Now, according to the report by Pinkvilla, the sequel to CNKB is in development at Maddock with Sunny Kaushal and Yami Gautam returning to lead once again. The report says that the script for Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2 is already locked, and the makers are expected to take it on floors by the end of this year. The bigger picture is that the makers are aiming to make it s theatrical film, unlike the first movie, which was made as a streaming product. "While Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga revolved around a heist in the air, the sequel has even higher stakes as the robbery takes place in the middle of an ocean. The entire plot of Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2 is set on a cruise, where all the madness unfolds. Much like the original, this one too will be an edge-of-the-seat thriller with comic elements", says the report. The movie will be produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films in association with Amar Kaushik. Stay tuned...

PVR-INOX Halts Advance Booking For Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi's Jolly LLB 3

Mumbai, September 18 - Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi's much-awaited Jolly LLB 3 seems to be in trouble ahead of its September 19 release. In a shocking development, the largest multiplex chain in India, PVR-INOX, has halted advance bookings for this courtroom comedy drama. The theatre chain had opened the bookings for the weekend, but gradually started stopping them since Wednesday evening (September 17). It is said that the issue is regarding V.P.F. (Virtual Print Fees), which is being resolved now, and the bookings will be live anytime soon. "A meeting will be held between the two parties on Thursday at 10:00 am. We are all hoping that all the issues between them are resolved amicably. Once that happens, bookings in PVR Inox are expected to commence immediately", reports Bollywood Hungama. The pre-sales of Jolly LLB 3 are increasing gradually. As of 10 AM on September 17, the film has sold over 66,000 tickets worth approximately 1.75 crores gross for the opening day. With the last day ongoing before the release, the bookings will see a jump, setting the stage for the movie for a decent to good opening at the box office. After Box Office History, Ahaan Pandey, Aneet Padda's Saiyaara Storms To Number 1 On Netflix

Mumbai, September 17 - After scripting history at the box office, debutante Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda's romantic drama Saiyaara continues to wave its magic as it has taken Netflix by storm by emerging as the number 1 non-English movie worldwide this past week. Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara started streaming on Netflix from 12 September after completing the mandatory 8-week theatrical run. Despite the majority of its target audience having already watched it in theatres, the film has soared to number 1 on the streamer with 3.7 million (37 lakh) views in the first 3 days. With 3.7 million views or 9.3 million viewing hours, Saiyaara is among the most-watched Indian films in the first weekend on Netflix this year. It is also trending at the number 1 in 9 countries this week, including India, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Mauritius, while trending in the top 10 in 15 countries. It has been observed in the past that those films have fared better on Netflix, which did better at the box office, than those which began streaming directly, and Saiyaara, with a solid start, has proved that again. This is probably one of the main reasons why streamers have started refusing to take most of the films directly and wait for the box office validation to acquire them. Saiyaara, meanwhile, has been a box office breakout of the year. Made on a medium-range budget of around 50 crores, this Yash Raj Films production stunned the trade with its phenomenal box office run. The movie finished its theatrical journey with over 570 crores worldwide as the highest-grossing romantic Indian film of all-time and one of the highest-grosser of the year. Stay tuned...

Jolly LLB Franchise Box Office Journey: Can Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi-led Jolly LLB 3 Outperform Its Predecessor?

Mumbai, September 17 - Over the year, Bollywood has produced multiple successful film franchises, including courtroom comedy drama Jolly LLB. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the Jolly LLB series has grown from a modest courtroom satire into one of the most reliable franchises. Well, the fan favourite franchise has returned with the third instalment with stacks higher than before. Both the Jollys, Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar, who headlined the first two films separately, have come together for Jolly LLB 3, which is scheduled to release on September 19. With less than 2 days to go before the release, the trade is anticipating it to repeat the success of the first two movies and is hopeful that it will take things a notch higher. Jolly LLB (2013) - Released in 2013, Jolly LLB featured Arshad Warsi in the lead alongside Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla, and Boman Irani. Made on a modest budget of around 15 crores, the film emerged as a surprise success thanks to its sharp satire on corruption in the legal system. At the box office, it grossed around 46 crore worldwide, including β‚Ή43.75 crore from India, and drew close to 35 lakh footfalls. The film received praise for the direction and story, along with appreciation for the lead cast. Its impact was further amplified when it went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, establishing a solid foundation for a franchise. Saurabh Shukla, who has been a major reason behind the franchise's success, won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor. Jolly LLB 2 (2017) – Star Power Takes The Franchise To New Highs - The sequel arrived in 2017 with Akshay Kumar stepping into the role of the quirky lawyer, replacing Arshad. The results were phenomenal as Jolly LLB 2 collected superb around 197 crore worldwide gross, out of which 162.50 crore came from India, while footfalls rose more than 3x to nearly 1.20 crore. This massive jump in both revenue and audience turnout showed the difference that star power could make, transforming the series from a small hit into a full-fledged blockbuster franchise. It also won multiple awards at different awards shows. Can Both Jollys Take Jolly LLB 3 Past Its Predecessor - As said, the stakes are higher than before, and with both Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar coming together for the first time in the series, expectations are running high for Jolly LLB 3. The first two films combined have already amassed around 250 crore worldwide with over 1.50 crore footfalls, proving the franchise's strong box office pull. If the third instalment successfully blends its signature mix of satire, courtroom drama, and entertainment, it has every chance to surpass the benchmark set by Jolly LLB 2 and solidify Jolly LLB as one of Bollywood's most enduring courtroom sagas. The franchise films have seen a higher ratio of failure than success this year, but the trade is optimistic about Jolly LLB 3. Stay tuned...

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's Multistarrer Confirmed, But With A Major Change

Chennai, September 17 - The Tamil film industry has been buzzing with a mutlistarrer, featuring the two icons of Indian cinema, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. The news about the duo coming together after many decades has been making noise for the last few weeks, especially since they have officially confirmed the mega collab. While the legendary duo have officially confirmed that they are coming together, the uncertainty over the director is still looming large. Interestingly, it was reported that Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has directed both the superstars in Coolie and Vikram, had narrated a two-hero script to them and was supposed to direct the film. But it seems the project is not happening with Lokesh anymore. According to the social media buzz, Lokesh Kanagaraj has backed out of the film, which will now reportedly be directed by some other director. The official confirmation about the same is not revealed yet, and if true, there is no clarity on why the Leo director is not directing it. There have been rumours that Pradeep Ranganathan might direct the film. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth told the media at Chennai airport that the movie will be produced by Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies, but the director and script have not been finalised, which has hinted but confirmed that Lokesh Kanagaraj is not in the fray. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan last appeared together in the 1979 fantasy film Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum, following earlier collaborations in Ninaithale Inikkum (1979), Aval Appadithan (1978), and 16 Vayathinile (1977). Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will next be seen in director Nelson's Jailer 2, while Kamal Haasan has Shankar's Indian 2. Stay tuned...
