Andrew Garfield Reveals Emma Stone's Reaction After He Lied About 'Spider-Man' Return

Los Angeles, Jan 18 (IANS) Actor Andrew Garfield, who dated Emma Stone after they met on the sets of 'The Amazing Spider-Man', has shared the reaction the actress had after he lied about his return as the superhero in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'.## The British actor revealed that Stone kept on texting him about whether the rumours of his involvement in the new film were true, reports aceshowbiz.com.## "Emma kept on texting me. She was like, 'Are you in this new Spider-Man film?'" he recalled. "And I was like, 'I don't know what you're talking about'", the Golden Globe winner admitted.## He continued: "She was like, 'Shut up. Just tell me'. I'm like, 'I honestly don't know' - I kept it going, even with her".## After Stone watched 'No Way Home' and found out the truth, she was understandably upset with her former boyfriend. Garfield shared: "And then she saw it. She was like, 'You're a jerk'".## He had numerous times denied that he would reprise his role as Spider-Man in 'No Way Home' before it hit theatres.## "I heard about it. And I did see it. And it's Photoshop", he said on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' in September 2021 after a leaked photo showed him wearing the suit again.## He further explained his position with the project: "I think that Tom Holland is just the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so I am super stoked. I get to just be a fan again, which is my preferred position.## "To be able to sit in the audience and kind of go, 'Yeah, you screwed up, mate. You didn't do it as well as you could have done, eh?' I get to be that guy that's just like, 'Yeah, I don't really love the suit'".## In a recent interview with TheWrap, the 38-year-old actor admitted it was "stressful" to lie to the media.## "It was stressful, I'm not gonna lie. It was rather stressful but also weirdly enjoyable. 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Becomes The Highest-Grossing Film Of All Time In Mexico

Mumbai, January 18 - Marvel/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is setting new benchmarks at the domestic as well as the international box office. The superhero movie is heading towards a $1 billion overseas box office, that too without a single penny from China. ## The Tom Holland-fronted film has so far grossed $926.3 million through 63 international markets and over $700 million domestically (North America), pushing global cume to $1.62 billion. It is currently the 8th highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office and will grab the 6th spot in the list by the end of next weekend.## Meanwhile, "No Way Home" has become the highest-grossing film of all time in Mexico with $72 million. In Brazil, it is the second highest-grossing film ever with $50.4 million, so in Central America ($12.6M) and Ecuador ($7.9M).## In North America, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" becomes the 4th highest-grossing film ever. After the end of the 5th weekend, it was the 5th biggest-grosser there with $698.7 million and became 4th biggest on Monday by crossing Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" ($700.06 million). ## The Jon Watts-directed is likely to finish with $1.75 billion globally. Oscar Isaac Is Marvel's Newest Superhero With 'Moon Knight'

Los Angeles, Jan 18 (IANS) Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for its Disney Plus series 'Moon Knight' and it has a new superhero played by actor Oscar Isaac.## The teaser was unveiled on Monday night, officially launching the 2022 slate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reports variety.com.## In 'Moon Knight' premiering on March 30, Isaac plays Marc Spector, a former soldier with a profound case of dissociative identity disorder that manifests as fully distinct individuals. He becomes the conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, which only further exacerbates Marc's anxiety over his mental illness.## In the trailer, set to Kid Cudi's 'Day an' Night', Marc can't tell the difference between his normal life and his dreams. He plays with a Rubik's cube, unable to fall asleep, only to jump out of bed in a panic with his foot chained to his bed, though he seemingly forgets he was the one who restrained himself the night before. After visiting a museum in ancient Egypt, he sees a vision of Khonshu and later meets Ethan Hawke's villain, a cult leader who encourages Marc to embrace the darkness within himself.## The trailer ends with Marc being enveloped by the Moon Knight costume and a shot of him brutally beating someone up on a bathroom floor.## Unlike all of Marvel Studios' previous series for Disney Plus, which were based on existing characters from the company's pre-2019 feature films, 'Moon Knight' charts a brand new path, with a totally new set of characters and a storyline that has no clear initial connection to the MCU.## Making his Marvel comics debut in 1975, Moon Knight initially had superpowers based on the phases of the moon, but more recent iterations have kept his abilities mortal, aided by sophisticated gadgetry.## That has drawn comics fans to compare the character to the DC Comics superhero Batman.## 'Moon Knight' co-stars Hawke and May Calamawy, while Jeremy Slater serves as creator and head writer, with Mohamed Diab and the team of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directing.## The show inaugurates Marvel Studios' second year delivering TV series for Disney Plus alongside its feature films. 'Black Panther' Sequel Is On Track For Scheduled Release Despite Delayed Production

Los Angeles, January 15 - Marvel Studios' highly anticipated sequel to "Black Panther" is on track for the scheduled release in November 2022, despite the delayed production. The production of the film got halted due to the injury of British actress, Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the film. ## On Friday, Letitia resumed shooting for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", almost five months after being injured when a stunt went wrong. At the time of injury in August 2021, it looked she would be resuming work soon but the recovery took longer than the expected time which led to the postponement of the production in November. ## Wright's Princess of Wakanda character is expected to play a bigger part in the blockbuster's sequel. The late Chadwick Boseman led the 2018 film and his role has not been re-cast following his death in 2020. ## While the release dates of 2022 Marvel Movies were already postponed due to the production changes, it was reported that "Black Panther 2" could be further delayed due to Letitia's injury. However, this is not the case as production resumed on schedule and the movie is also very much on track for its 11 November 2022 release. ## Wright's spokesperson told BBC News, "Filming resumed this month as planned and we're on schedule".## "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is one of the most anticipated films coming in 2022. Limited Re-Release To Mark 'The Godfather' 50th Anniversary

Kevin Smith Recalls Writing Failed 'Superman' Movie For Ben Affleck

os Angeles, Jan 9 (IANS) Filmmaker Kevin Smith spoke in detail about an unsuccessful attempt to get a 'Superman' movie off the ground with Hollywood star Ben Affleck in the title role.## Smith was the inaugural guest on Yahoo Entertainment's 'The Never-Weres' series, reports variety.com. Both men were coming off the success of 'Mallrats' at the time.## Warner Bros. was in development on a new 'Superman' movie titled 'Superman Reborn', but Smith thought the screenplay was "terrible". That's when Smith pitched his own 'Superman' movie based on 'The Death of Superman' comic series. Smith's script went into development with producer Jon Peters, but the two clashed overcasting.## "I was writing it for Affleck," Smith said.## "Ben was heating up. Like he was there. I think he'd been hired for 'Armageddon'. Affleck, he's a f***ing giant, like he's built like a superhero, built like a giant action figure, particularly with the height. And then he puts on the muscles there too. So in my head and heart, it was always Ben and Michael Rooker".## Smith wanted Affleck for Superman and Rooker for the villainous role of Lex Luther, but Peters had a different idea. The Hollywood producer wanted to cast Sean Penn as Superman, as the actor was hot off an Oscar nomination for Best Actor thanks to his role in the 1995 drama 'Dead Man Walking'.## "(Jon Peters) goes, 'Look in (Penn's) eyes in that movie, he's (got) haunted eyes, the eyes of a killer'", Smith said.## "And I was like, 'Dude, it's Superman. You know, that's not how most people think of Superman. But he wanted to reinvent it. He wanted something gritty, graphic, and grown-up. He essentially wanted like what Zack Snyder eventually did (in 'Man of Steel' 'Batman v Superman' and 'Justice League,' which coincidentally featured Affleck as Batman opposite Henry Cavill's Superman)'".## Tim Burton eventually took over the reins of 'Superman Lives' and set Nicolas Cage to star. Oprah Winfrey Producing Apple Documentary On Sidney Poitier

Los Angeles, Jan 9 (IANS) A documentary about the career and life of the late Sidney Poitier, the first Black man to win an Oscar, the Bahamanian thespian and diplomat, is in production at Apple.## A source close to the project has confirmed to variety.com. Oprah Winfrey is attached as executive producer for the Apple Original Films release.## Apple and Winfrey have been in production on the documentary for more than a year. Poitier's family is participating in the project.## The documentary comes from Harpo Productions and Network Entertainment. Reggie Hudlin will serve as a director. Hudlin's previous directorial credits include 90's films like 'House Party' and 'Boomerang', as well as episodes of TV series like 'The Last O.G.' and 'Black Monday'.## He is also a prolific producer across film and television, serving as a regular executive producer for the NAACP Image Awards since 2013. Hudlin directed the 2019 documentary 'The Black Godfather', which examines the life of music producer Clarence Avant.## Hudlin is also already executive producing two other projects for Apple TV Plus.## He will direct 'Number One on the Call Sheet', a documentary that examines the history of Black leading men in Hollywood.
