Paramount Announced A New 'Transformers' Trilogy Starting With 'Rise of the Beasts'

Mumbai, February 16 - Paramount Pictures has announced a new trilogy in the Transformers franchise, starting with "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts". The studio, during a virtual press event in June last year, had confirmed the 7th installment in this highly popular franchise, and now, the company has confirmed that "Rise of the Beasts" will start a new trilogy. ## The studio originally launched the Transformers movie franchise in 2007 with Micahel Bay directing and Shia LaBeouf starring. After five main films in the series, Paramount delivered a reboot film, "Bumblebee" in 2018. The new trilogy of the main series is kicking off in 2023 with "Rise of the Beasts", which takes place between Bumblebee and the Michael Bay movies. ## As announced by Paramount last year, the forthcoming Transformers movie will be different from its previous films in many ways. It will include robots who transform themselves into animal forms like gorillas, falcons, and rhinoceros. "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" will be set in the year 1994 and will narrate the backstory of Optimus Prime. ## On Wednesday (Feb. 16), Paramount revealed its further plans during its Investor Day presentation regarding shows and movies. The studio also confirmed all its movies, starting from 2024, will exclusively be streaming on Paramount+ after their theatrical run. A new CG animated Transformers movie is also set for 2024 theatrical release apart from a series on Nickelodeon this year. ## "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" will debut in theaters on June 9, 2023, and it will be directed by Steven Caple Jr., who last directed Creed II. ## Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be released theatrically in 2023 and is the first of three new installments. Los Angeles, February 15 - "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is now the 3rd biggest-grossing movie at the domestic (North America) box office, beating James Cameron's 2009 sci-fi epic "Avatar's" $760.5 million. ## The total domestic gross collection of Tom Holland-fronted superhero movie has reached an estimated $760.9 million after collecting $1.6 million on Valentine's Day. There were doubts whether "No Way Home" would be able to beat "Avatar", and now, it can officially be said that it has busted those doubts and done the unimaginable in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic. ## Directed by Jon Watts, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has beaten the odds of the pandemic, however, this box office juggernaut is likely to stop with number 3 as it is unlikely to climb further heights in domestic markets. If it pushes really hard and does something which has never happened before, it will still need approx $100 million to beat "Avengers: Endgame" ($858 million) to reach 2nd spot at the domestic box office, which looks like an uphill task. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($936 million) remains in the first place. ## "Spider-Man: No Way Home", however, has played its part in glorifying the big-screen magic, in fact, it has done more than anyone had predicted at the time of the film's theatrical debut in December 2021. Meanwhile, "No Way Home" is also super strong at the international box office, and is currently the 6th biggest title at the global box office with $1.80 billion, without a single penny from China, which is the biggest movie market. ## "Avatar", meanwhile, may have slipped to 4th spot in the domestic market, it is still the king of the global box office with $2.802 billion, and will easily maintain its position without any trouble. After getting re-released in the domestic market (North America), "Dune" gets benefitted from Oscar's nominations buzz and scored $145K on its 17th weekend for a total domestic cume of $107.8 million. ## Overseas, the film grossed $320K on its 22nd weekend, thanks to the re-release in Korea, reaching $292.3 million at the international box office. Mumbai, February 14 - With "Spider-Man: No Way Home" still putting strong numbers at the box office, Tom Holland's next film "Uncharted" has kicked off the international box office on a strong note. ## Ahead of its domestic (North America) debut on February 18, Sony's big-screen adaptation of its popular video game series opened in 15 international markets and grossed a solid $21.5 million over Valentine's Day weekend. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, the highly-awaited superhero movie will debut in theaters on May 6, 2022, in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. ## On Monday (Feb. 14), Marvel released the full trailer of the sequel of the 2016's film. According to Culture Crave, the action spy film is currently the 6th most expensive movie of all time. "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is the costliest film ever with a budget of $379 million. ## Avengers "Age of Ultron", "Endgame", and "Infinity War" are the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th most expensive movies with $365 million, $356 million, and $325 million, respectively. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The World's End", and "Justice League" are the 5th most expensive titles with a cost of $300 million each. ## According to Variety sources, a significant factor in this budget escalation is that "Mission: Impossible 7" was initially scheduled to begin shooting in Venice in February 2020, but it had to stop and start production seven different times. ## "Mission: Impossible 7" was supposed to hit screens in September this year, but in January, Paramount announced that it was delaying the release of "Mission: Impossible 7" to July 14, 2023, citing "delays due to the ongoing pandemic". The postponement will also add interest costs to the film's overall budget. Warner Bros. Lends In Trouble Over 'Matrix Resurrections' Day-and-Date HBO Max Release

Los Angeles, February 8 - Last year, Walt Disney company faced the heat over Scarlett Johansson's "Black Widow's" day-and-date Disney+ release, which reportedly cost Disney a whopping $40 million to settle the lawsuit filed against it. And now, the same is happening with Warner Bros.## Village Roadshow Pictures, the producers of the recently released science fiction action film, "The Matrix Resurrections", has sued Warner Bros. for breaching the contract. The Keanu Reeves-fronted movie was released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously in December last year, which is the reason behind the lawsuit. ## Village Roadshow Pictures has alleged that Warner Bros. is prioritizing HBO Max to increase streamer's popularity at the cost of movies box office revenue. ## "WB's sole purpose in moving the release date of The Matrix Resurrections forward was to create a desperately needed wave of year-end HBO Max premium subscriptions from what it knew would be a blockbuster film, despite knowing full well that it would decimate the film's box office revenue and deprive Village Roadshow of any economic upside that WB and its affiliates would enjoy, especially as compared to a 2022 exclusive theatrical release", states the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ## Warner Bros. said in a statement, "This is a frivolous attempt by Village Roadshow to avoid their contractual commitment to participate in the arbitration that we commenced against them last week.
