Box Office: Raksha Bandhan First Sunday Early Estimate

Mumbai, August 14 - Raksha Bandhan is heading for another average day at the box office as the early estimates suggest 7.50 crores net on the first Sunday. There is a little growth from yesterday but in real words that cannot be called growth as it is coming from a very low Saturday. The first Sunday collections of Raksha Bandhan will push the total collections of the film to around 29 crores depending on the final Sunday collections. The four-day collections are low for an Akshay Kumar starrer. The premium multiplexes continue to not have any audience despite the appealing content. The film is doing whatever collections are from tier2 and tier3 cities and even there the collections are not to be proud of. It is just these centers are doing better than others. Tomorrow is a huge holiday in the form of Independence day so there will be some mass audience from interiors which could help the film but if the film does not show any growth tomorrow then the game will be over. The film is looking to have its lifetime collections in the same range as of Akshay Kumar's last outing Samrat Prithiviraj. Box Office: Laal Singh Chaddha First Sunday Early Estimate

Mumbai, August 14 - Laal Singh Chaddha is flirting with a double-digit collection on the first Sunday as the early estimated collection suggests 10 crores. It can collect extra 25-50lacs as well as tomorrow is a huge holiday in the form of Independence day. The film has recorded a similar collection compared to yesterday despite having a national holiday which pretty much tells about the content of the film. Today's collections will push the total collections of the film to just a little under the 38cr net mark which is a low four-day total for an event film with a huge established star like Aamir Khan who is coming on the screens after the gap of 4 years. East Punjab and Delhi-NCR are the only circuits that are putting decent collections and driving the film due to its local flavor. The extended weekend collections should cross the 50cr mark minimum and then it will be all about how much it does for the pride. Tuesday will decide where the final collections of Laal Singh Chaddha are going to be though it is unlikely to hit 100cr and might even struggle to reach 90cr. Ananya Pandey To Play Leading Lady Opposite Ayushmann Khurrana In 'Dream Girl 2'

Mumbai, August 14 - Writer and director Raaj Shaandilyaa is preparing to begin the shooting of the sequel to Ayushmann Khurrana-fronted Dream Girl later this month. The social comedy drama was one of the biggest hits of 2019 and also received critical acclaim. ## Recently, it was reported that Dream Girl 2, is in development and now, the makers have roped in the female lead along with other important casts. While Nushrat Bharucha played the leading lady in the first part, the makers have reportedly roped in Ananya Pandey this time to romance Ayushmann Khurrana in the sequel. ## It will be the first time pairing Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Pandey. Apart from the leading pair, veteran actors, Paresh Rawal and Seema Pahwa have also been roped in to play prominent roles in the movie. Ayushmann Khurrana To Join Producer Dinesh Vijan's Horror-Comedy Universe?

Mumbai, August 14 - Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana is in the line to join producer Dinesh Vijan's horror comedy universe. The actor has done path-breaking films in his respected career so far but he hasn't explored the horror-comedy genre. ## According to peepingmoon.com, Ayushmann will be doing Vijan's next horror-comedy and will reunite the actor with his "Bala" director Amar Kaushik for the same. It is said that Ayushmann and Kaushik have been looking to collaborate for their next project and they have finally cracked the idea. ## The reports say that the film expands Vijan's proposed horror-comedy cinematic universe. The actor reportedly has given his nod and will sign the dotted lines after the final narration. The movie is likely to go on floors next year. ## Dinesh Vijan has been developing his own cinematic universe in horror-comedy and Ayushmann's film will be the 4th installment in the universe. Previosuly, Vijan's Maddock Films produced Shraddha Kapoor's "Stree", and Janhvi Kapoor's "Roohi". Bollywood Filmmakers Speak Up On Over The Top Remuneration of Actors

Mumbai, August 14 - The largest Indian film industry, Bollywood is going through a crisis and things are getting worse with each passing film. The reasons why Bollywood films aren't getting successful at the box office are mixed. One of the main reasons Bollywood films are failing is over the top remuneration of actors which is leading to weakening the quality of film's content. ## There has been chatter about how the film's quality is being compromised to keep the budget in check amid the high fees of actors. It is a sad reality of the Hindi film industry that many actors, who debuted in the last 10-15 years, are asking for high remuneration while the lifetime collection of their films ends up below what they have been asking for. ## The high asking price of actors to star in the movie is definitely a major concern, but it is not the only thing Bollywood needs to correct. Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt believes that while stars' fees is a concern, the entire economics on which the film industry is operating today is wrong amid the emergence of OTT platforms. ## Mahesh Bhatt said that production houses have paid "such ridiculous fees" to actors because the OTT platforms were offering ludicrous deals to them. However, it proved to be a short-term gain as OTT platforms have pulled back from offering big deals to the filmmakers which have left the industry in a big mess. ## "Nobody was concerned with making a movie, everybody was doing arithmetic and considering which star to cast so that the film can be sold to OTT and satellite and make big bucks. The best of people make the worst of mistakes. The time has come to correct the mistake. The stars don't deserve the kind of money they are charging, because their films don’t have that kind of opening", Mahesh Bhatt told ETimes. ## Producer Ratan Jain said that there was a time when films used to be produced by an independent producer so the stars' fees were not a major concern. However, ever since the corporates came in, they started throwing money like water, leading to a significant rise in the prices of actors which has done huge damage to the industry. ## Mukesh Bhatt agreed with Jain and said that "corporates destroyed the industry by pumping huge amounts of money without any understanding of filmmaking. And now they have all shut down, so a correction is bound to happen. When you do business with the wrong economics, then it cannot sustain. The independent producers became like white tigers. Because the independent producers and distributors didn't have that kind of deep pockets to invest that kind of money".## Akshay Kumar reflects on the idea and says, "A lot of people are bothered by the lack of big box office numbers and such people believe that things need to be changed. I have always believed that the monetary aspect of cinema should first be aimed at the film's writer because he/she is the most important person on the project. The biggest heroes of our industry are our writers. If a writer cracks a story or a screenplay, no film can go wrong. Next in line of importance comes the director, then the technicians, and finally actors".## Industry veterans observe that the content in Hindi cinema has undergone a drastic change and certain elements that attracted footfalls in the theatres have been ignored by filmmakers lately. Apart from fee correction, they believe Bollywood also needs content correction that will bring the audience back to the cinemas. Mumbai, August 13 - Raksha Bandhan sees a decent jump on the first Saturday as compared to its previous day. There is some growth but that is very marginal and also from a very low second day which questions the growth. The early estimated collections are set to be around 7 crores net. There was a chance for a far bigger growth but the film did not find any takers in premium multiplexes with minimum collections. The film is doing fine in a few centers of Gujarat and Saurashtra but that's all about it. Mumbai, August 12 - Laal Singh Chaddha which had a disappointing opening day with just 12 crores net collections in all the versions has seen a big drop on the second day of its release. The drop is big in the range of 40% but when you compare it to the low opening day then the drop looks even bigger. The early estimated collections on the second day are set to be around 7.5 crores net for Laal Singh Chaddha. East Punjab which raked decent first-day collections has also dropped largely on the second day. Rest all other circuits are recording awful collections. Mumbai, August 12 - After recording a low opening day of just 8.20 crores net box office collections, Raksha Bandhan sees a drop on the second day. The drop is lesser than Laal Singh Chaddha but it also has to notice that Laal Singh Chaddha had a higher first day so the drop was likely to be bigger. The early estimated collections are set to be around 5.50-6 crores net which will push the total collections of Raksha Bandhan to approx 14cr which should have been the opening day number of the film. Mumbai, August 12 - The much-awaited Bollywood biggies, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar-fronted Raksha Bandhan performed underwhelmingly at the box office on an opening day. Being a holiday release, the industry was expecting both films to do well which didn't happen. ## Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the official remake of the classic Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump, was a bigger film than Raksha Bandhan. However, the opening day collection of 12 crores net of the film is too low by the standard Aamir has set over the years.## It was almost impossible to match the pre-covid level box office performance for Laal Singh Chaddha, but the movie still needed to perform much better than it actually earned, considering the big budget and scale of the film. A negative campaign was also run against the movie and that might have done damage to the movie. The word of mouth, however, is mixed. ## On the other hand, the Akshay Kumar-starrer family comedy-drama film, Raksha Bandhan collected 8.20 crores net on Thursday. Though the movie was predicted to earn around in the same range, a 10 crores start would have been nice, but unfortunately, the movie legged behind LSC in mutliplexes. The word of mouth and reivews are largly positive and this should help the movie to grow over the weekend, especially from Saturday. ## Overall, both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan combined scored 20.20 crores net collection on the first day, which is lower than the opening of Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi. Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' First Critics Reviews Are Out Online

Mumbai, August 10 - The much-awaited family comedy-drama film, Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar, is finally hitting theaters worldwide tomorrow (August 11). Directed by Anand L Rai, Raksha Bandhan is touted to revive the family drama genre, which used to be the strongest zone of the Bollywood industry. ## The movie revolves around Lala Kedarnath (Akshay), who runs a street food shop, the third generation of his family to do so. He plays a role of a brother whose primary concern is getting his four sisters married, and at the same time, dealing with the problem of dowry. The movie also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth, and Deepika Khanna in key roles.## Meanwhile, Raksha Bandhan has had a premiere in Delhi ahead of the film's official release.
