Keeping certain things in mind, Warner Bros. India has pushed the release date of Mortal Combat by a week from April 16 to April 23, the same date as the US.
Mortal Combat will be releasing in India in the midst of a second COVID-19 wave in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions along with English all over the country. Warner Bros. will hope that Mortal Combat does the same business as that of Godzilla vs. Kong which is nearing INR 50 crores Net marks in India.
Directed by Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat follows the story of a long-forgotten MMA fighter, unaware of his secret lineage or why he is being hunted down by Sub-Zero of the Lin-Kuei clan of assassins. Concerned for the safety of his family, he seeks out a team of fighters who were chosen to defend Earthrealm in a high-stakes battle against the forces of Outworld.
The movie stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada and it is produced by James Wan, Todd Garner, Simon McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh.
