"Godzilla vs. Kong" is going strong in the international market led by a solid push from the Chinese Box Office. The monster film left behind its competitors in China this weekend with an approx $70 million debut. With this collection, it also becomes the highest grosser foreign film in both 2020 and 2021 in China on the first weekend, according to variety.com.
Godzilla vs. Kong grabbed 82% of total ticket sales this weekend in Mainland from around 42,000 screens and more than 11.8 million admissions (as per variety). It collects around $21 million on day 3 after making approx $49 million on the first two days.
On the worldwide front, Godzilla vs. Kong debuted in 38 international markets and has already crossed $120 million from them. Among the key contributors other than China - Mexico ($6.3 M), Australia ($6.3 M), Russia ($5.8 M), Taiwan ($5.2 M), and India with approx. $4 million.
