Box Office: 'Blue Beetle' Scores Second Lowest Opening In The DCEU

Los Angeles, August 21 - DC Studios' latest superhero movie "Blue Beetle" has a lower opening than expected at the domestic (North America) box office. The movie, however, dethroned Margot Robbie's mega-blockbuster " Barbie" to claim the number 1 spot during the weekend of August 18-20.## "Blue Beetle" scored $25.4 million in its opening weekend, which is the second lowest opening in the modern DC era, ahead of just "Wonder Woman 1984" ($16.7 million) which had a debacle day and date release on HBO Max during the peak of covid-19 pandemic in December 2020.## Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, "Blue Beetle" was expected to project to score $30 million which would have still made it the lowest DC starter in 2023, behind "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" which grossed $30.1 million earlier this year.## At the international box office, "Blue Beetle" starring Xolo Maridueña as the alien symbiote, added $18 million from 63 markets. With $43 million globally, it's one of the softest starts in the history of the DC Cinematic Universe. In India, the movie has one of the lowest superhero openings with just around $720K (6 crores gross) in the 3-day weekend.## The audience word of mouth is positive for the movie with 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore is B+. Warner Bros. India Announces Date For 'Blue Beetle' Fan Screening

Mumbai, August 13 - Warner Bros. Pictures is getting ready to release the next DC Superhero movie "Blue Beetle" this upcoming Friday, August 18. Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, "Blue Beetle" is the latest and overall the fourteenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). ## "Blue Beetle" will release in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages in India on August 18. The studio, however, has announced fans screenings of the movie a day before the official release, August 17 in Mumbai and Delhi. ## Warner Bros. announced a quiz contest in which fans won a free pass to watch the movie in the special fans' screenings. The contest has been closed and the studio has already announced the names of the fans who have been selected for the screening, scheduled for August 17 in Mumbai and Delhi.## The film stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle alongside Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez in key roles. DC's 'Blue Beetle' Box Office Projection Revealed

Los Angeles, August 8 - Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studio will look to put the recent box office failures as the studios are gearing up for the next DC Superhero movie "Blue Beetle" on August 18. The movie was once considered for direct digital release, but things got changed after many at Warner Bros. believed it could turn out to be a potential box office blockbuster.## The box office prospects of the movie are also looking brighter as compared to what it was tracking nearly a month ago. The Angel Manuel Soto-directed pic is touted to be very hot with Latino and Hispanic moviegoers, on the box office tracking. ## According to Deadline, the Xolo Maridueña-led superhero movie is tracking $30 million in the opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. The current projections are much better than the earlier projections of a $15 million debut. ## "Blue Beetle" is tracking lower than "The Flash" which opened at $55 million in June this year, but that movie hugely underperformed due to all the negativity around it and it couldn't recover from its low opening weekend and ended up as a box office failure for Warner Bros.## Deadline reports that "Blue Beetle" aimed at Hispanic and Latino moviegoers who can over-index in their first weekends due to walk-up business.
