Box Office: Independence Day 2023 Week's 'Gadar 2', 'Jailer', and 'OMG 2' Combine Cross 1000+ Crores India Net Collection

Mumbai, September 15 - Independence Day 2023 proved to be a historic week for the Indian box office which saw three Indian blockbusters joining hands to score huge collections. Thanks to the mammoth response to Sunny Deol-fronted Gadar 2, Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer, and Akshay Kumar's OMG 2, August 2023 has already become the biggest single month net collection scorer of all-time at the Indian box office.## The box office juggernaut of the aforementioned three films continued ever after August, as all three films have now combined generated over 1000+ crores net collection. This is only the second time that Indian movies have topped 1000+ crores net collection after being released in the same weekend. Earlier, SS Rajamouli's magnum opus "Baahubali 2" did the same in 2017.## Gadar 2## The sequel to the all-time blockbuster "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha", Gadar 2 has turned out to be a monstrous blockbuster and is only the 3rd movie ever to top 500 crores net in Hindi, and only the second outright Bollywood movie to do so. In its 5 weeks of run so far, the movie has scored 517.28 crores and is still in the race to top "Pathaan" (524+ crores) to become the biggest Hindi movie ever domestically in terms of net collection. Worldwide, G2 has grossed approximately 676 crores so far.## Jailer## Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama, which was released on August 10, has had an unprecedented run so far. In 36 days so far, Jailer has minted 343.75 crores net in all versions, emerging as the second biggest Tamil movie ever, behind Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's "2.0" which scored approx. 407 crores net. At the worldwide box office, Jailer has crossed the 600 crores gross mark, again the second highest-grossing after "2.0" (744 crores).## OMG 2## The social comedy-drama film, which is a sequel to "OMG" (2012) scored a timely success for superstar Akshay Kumar who was going through a lean phase. In its 5th week, the movie crossed 150 crores net box office mark, becoming the 5th Bollywood movie of the year to do so. Box Office: Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2' Nears 150 Crores Net Domestically

Mumbai, September 8 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's A-rated social comedy drama film OMG 2 has emerged as big box office hit at the domestic as well as overseas. Directed by Amit Rai, the movie has already crossed the 200 crores gross mark at the global box office, and now, it is heading to 150 crores domestic net collection.## OMG 2 had a good 4th week despite the heavy competition as it scored approximately 7.40 crores net, dropping just around 52% from the third week which is very good hold. This takes the total collection to around 149.25 crores net in 28 days and it could add another 1-2 crores more to take its total past 150 crores mark.## The film dropped heavily on the last day (4th Thursday) of the 4th week due to the arrival of Shah Rukh Khan-fronted "Jawan" which took most the screens away of the movie, plus the holdovers are also performing really well. Nonetheless, OMG 2 has done its job despite releasing with the age restriction by the censor board.## OMG 2 also has a good outing at the overseas box office with gross collection approximately 43 crores, which helped the worldwide cume of the movie to reach over 219 crores gross. Box Office: Gadar 2 Crosses 600 Crores And OMG 2 Hits 200 Crores Worldwide

Mumbai, August 29 - Sunny Deol-fronted period action drama film Gadar 2: The Katha Continues continuing its heroic run and crossed 600 crores mark at the worldwide box office on its 18th day. It has become the second Indian movie of the year to achieve this milestone.## Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 has so far scored approximately 544 crores gross collection in India (460.65 crores net) while its overseas collection is excellent 61 crores through 3rd Monday (18 days). The worldwide box office collection of the movie has reached 104.60 crores to-date.## Gadar 2 has become the 12th Indian movie and 7th outright Bollywood movie of all-time to top 600 crores worldwide gross. Post the covid-19 pandemic, it the 4th Indian movie and 2nd Bollywood film to reach this box office figure. ## Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar's social comedy drama OMG 2 also having a very good run despite competition and not-so mass friendly film. On its first Monday (18th day), it topped 200 crores gross mark at the global box office and becomes the first movie of Akshay since Sooryavanshi (2021) to achieve this feat.## In India, the Amit Rai's directorial movie has minted 161 crores gross while overseas, it has grossed around 39 crores so far. August 2023 Registers Biggest Single Month Net Collection Of All-Time In Hindi: Top 5 Biggest Month List

Mumbai, August 28 - August 2023 has turned out to be a historic month at the Indian box office with all films scoring well over 1000 crores net collection. This month particularly turned the tide for the Hindi film industry as it registered the biggest single-month net collection of all time in Hindi.## As of August 27, all the films have scored approximately 750 crores net collection in the Hindi language so far in the month of August. It surpassed the previous biggest single-month collection of 571 crores net, which came in April 2022 while the third biggest was 542 crores net in March 2022. ## So far, Sunny Deol-fronted "Gadar 2" is the biggest earning film in August with 456 crores net, followed by Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2" with 136 crores net, Karan Johar's directorial "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani" with approximately 97 crores, and Ayushmann Khurrana's "Dream Girl 2" with 41 crores. Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2' Post-Theatrical OTT Release To Have Director's Version

Mumbai, August 25 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama film "OMG 2", which features Pankaj Tripathi in the central role along with Yami Gautam, is having a very good run at the box office. It has hit 176 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office in two weeks and emerged as a big success.## "OMG 2", which is based on sex education in India, was heavily censored as reports suggest that CBFC asked for as many as 27 cuts in the film to avoid any controversy. It was still censored with an "A" certificate (adults only) despite these many cuts but the good thing is that these things didn't affect much as far as the box office is concerned though it kept a section of the audience away from theaters.## While the movie was released in cinemas with a censored version, director Amit Rai has confirmed that the post-theatrical OTT release of the movie will have a complete director's version. The filmmaker said in a recent interview with the team was forced to make changes for its theatrical release but assured that the OTT release will have the uncut version and the scenes that were not in the theatrical print will be included in the streaming version.## Produced by Akshay Kumar's Cape of Good Films in association with Viacom18 Studios and Wakaoo Films, "OMG 2" is the story of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, whose son is blamed for immoral conduct and is thrown out of school. Box Office: OMG 2 Second Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 20 - OMG 2 has a very good second weekend, dropping just around 30% from the first weekend which is a fantastic hold. The movie scored a jump of around 20% on its second Sunday from the second Saturday collection. ## The early estimate suggests a second Sunday/10th-day collection of OMG 2 around 12.50-13 crores net which takes the total collection to over 114 crores net. The second-weekend collection is over 29 crores net which is one of the highest for a mid-budget Bollywood movie this year.## OMG 2 has been excellent in multiplex chains as the majority of its collection has come through those chains while smaller centers continue to remain low due to the domination of Gadar 2. The low performances in single screens have reduced OMG 2 to around its current total otherwise it could have easily around 150 crores net by now. A solo release would have done that for it.## The movie is the first 100 crores net scorer for director Amit Rai as well as Pankaj Tripathi who plays the center role in the movie.
