Mumbai, October 28 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan landed a knockout punch in 2023 with spy action thriller Pathaan after coming from nearly four years of break. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film was a kind of much-needed comeback for one of India's biggest superstars after not so pleasing outing with his last few films.

"Pathaan" was released during the Republic Day weekend of 2023 amid huge anticipation and as expected, it scored the biggest opening ever for a Bollywood movie at the domestic as well as the overseas box office. There was no stopping the movie after that as it kept demolishing record after record.



From the very first day, "Pathaan" was chasing history at the box office and without much support from other languages, it managed to score the biggest opening week collection the then for a Bollywood movie with 697 crores worldwide, including 437 crores gross domestically, before continued its dreamy run in the next weeks as well.

Produced by Yash Raj Films, "Pathaan" went on to become the highest net-grossing film ever in Hindi before it was recently outscored by another Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Jawan" and Sunny Deol-fronted "Gadar 2". At the worldwide box office, the film was truly a sensation and became the first Bollywood movie to gross 1000+ crores without China which is not the traditional market for Indian movies.
