Jake Hager Confirms He Is Retired From The Sport

Perry, 20 September - Jake Hager has officially announced that he's done with his MMA career.

After leaving WWE in 2017, he decided to try out professional mixed martial arts (MMA) and signed with Bellator MMA. He did pretty well, with a 3-0-1 record, and his last fight was against Brandon Calton at Bellator 250 in October 2020, which he won by split decision.



Before his AEW wrestling stint, he worked with different wrestling promotions, including Lucha Underground, where he was known as Jake Strong and was the final Lucha Underground Champion.

During a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, Hager made it clear that he's hanging up his MMA gloves. He mentioned that Bellator wasn't treating him right, so he's putting all his focus back into wrestling.

Now, it looks like he'll be a regular wrestler in AEW. After his AEW debut, he joined the Inner Circle with Santana, Ortiz, and Sammy Guevara before becoming part of the Jericho Appreciation Society.
