BTS-Inspired Fantasy Webtoon, Web Novel To Be Out On Saturday

Seoul, Jan 13 (IANS) A new fantasy webtoon and web novel inspired by K-pop superstars BTS will be released later this week, the group's management agency has said.

Hybe said its original story of '7Fates: Chakho' will be available on Naver Webtoon, an online platform for web-based comics run by South Korea's top portal operator, on Saturday, Yonhap News Agency reported.

'7Fates' is based on tales of a tiger-hunting corps called 'chakhogapsa' during the Korean Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897). It tells the story of seven boys, based on each member of BTS, tied together by fate, who overcome difficulties and grow as a group.

It is Hybe's first BTS-themed original story in cooperation with Naver Corp. as part of its strategy to expand its business to web-based comics, novels, and gaming by creating original content featuring its artistes.

Its two other originals on the 2022 slates -- 'Dark Moon', a vampire fantasy story starring ENHYPEN members, and 'The Star Seekers', a magical fantasy featuring Tomorrow X Together (TXT) -- will be released on the same website on Sunday and Monday, respectively, according to Hybe.

The company said those webtoons and novels will be available in 10 languages and released weekly.

BTS Condemn Violent Crimes And Hatred Against Asians

BY SACNILK

South Korean boy band BTS has condemned the recent surge in anti-Asian violence and hatred and shared their experiences of the racism they have faced. They have issued a statement on the same saying they stand against racial discrimination. ## The Grammy-nominated singers, who were recently subjected to racial slurs by a German RJ who compared them to the COVID-19 pandemic, penned a strongly-worded note condemning the acts of violence.## "We send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones", reads the statement, which was published both in Korean and English on BTS official Twitter handles. "We feel grief and anger. We recall moments when we faced discrimination as Asians. We have endured expletives without reason and were mocked for the way we look. We were even asked why Asians spoke in English".## "We cannot put into words the pain of becoming the subject of hatred and violence for such a reason. Our own experiences are inconsequential compared to the events that have occurred over the past few weeks. But these experiences were enough to make us feel powerless and chip away our self-esteem", the boys spilled their heart in the note.## #StopAsianHate#StopAAPIHate pic.twitter.com/mOmttkOpOt— 방탄소년단 (@BTS_twt) March 30, 2021 ## They concluded the note by saying, "What is happening right now cannot be dissociated from our identity as Asians. But what our voice must convey is clear. We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together".## Stay tuned...
