Mahavatar Narsimha Day 3 Box Office Collection: Becomes Highest-Grossing Indian Animated Film of All Time

Mumbai, July 27 - Kaleem Productions and Hombale Films' epic animated action drama Mahavatar Narsimha has created history at the Indian box office. After a sensational opening weekend, the Ashwin Kumar directorial has officially become the highest-grossing Indian animated film ever, surpassing the long-standing record of Hanuman (2005). ## The first film in the ambitious Mahavatar Cinematic Universe started on a good note but picked up extraordinary momentum through the weekend. The film earned approximately 2.10 crore gross on Friday, followed by a staggering +160% jump on Saturday with collections of around 5.50 crore gross. ## Sunday saw another massive surge, with early estimates suggesting collections in the range of 10.75–11.50 crore gross (9.25–9.75 crore net). From Friday to Sunday, the movie witnessed a staggering jump of around 500%. This brings the total domestic opening weekend to around 19 crore gross (approx. 15.50 crore net) — an excellent number for an animated feature in India. ## Hindi Version Leads the Way, Followed by Telugu ## The Hindi version has been the major driving force behind the film's success. After collecting around 4.50 crore net (5.50 crore gross) over the first two days, the movie scored an estimated 6.75–7 crore net (~8 crore gross) on Sunday. ## This pushes the Hindi version's weekend total to 11+ crore net and over 13.50 crore gross. Telugu version, on the other hand, has also done well and collected approximately 4.50 crores gross (3.85 crores net) in the first weekend. Other versions minted around 75 lakh. ## A New Benchmark for Indian Animation ## With its strong numbers, Mahavatar Narsimha has overtaken Hanuman (2005), which had earned an estimated 5.50 crore net (unadjusted for inflation). The film is now officially the highest-grossing Indian animated blockbuster and has redefined commercial possibilities for animated features in the country. ## Exhibitors are increasing the number of shows across the country to meet soaring demand, especially in urban centres and Hindi-speaking regions. With no major animated competitor in sight and strong word of mouth, Mahavatar Narsimha is poised for a solid theatrical run. ## Stay tuned...

Mahavatar Narsimha Day 2 Box Office Collection: Scores More Than 100% Jump Over First Day

Mumbai, July 26 - After surprising one and all with its opening day collection, Kaleem Productions and Hombale Films' animated epic action drama Mahavatar Narsimha has scored more than 100% jump today, and is heading towards a blockbuster opening weekend at the domestic box office. ## Based on the 4th avatar of Lord Vishnu, the film is directed by Ashwin Kumar and is the first film in the Kaleem Production and Hombale Films' Mahavatar Cinematic Universe. ## Mahavatar Narsimha Sees More Than 100% Jump On Day 2 ## Following its opening day net of 1.30 crore (1.60 crore gross) in the Hindi version, Mahavatar Narsimha saw a spectacular jump of nearly 150% on Saturday, scoring an estimated 3.75–4 crore gross (~3.25 crore net) in Hindi alone. ## The Telugu version wasn't far behind, registering a stunning 200%+ jump to post around 1.25 crore gross. Other language versions added approximately 25 lakh gross, bringing the total Day 2 gross to 5.25–5.50 crore (4.50–4.75 crore net) — a remarkable number for an animated devotional action epic. ## Mahavatar Narsimha Eyes 15 Crore Gross Opening Weekend ## With a two-day India gross of around 7.5 crore, the film is all set for another big jump on Sunday. The advance booking and trending word-of-mouth suggest that the film is headed for around 15 crore gross opening weekend — phenomenal for a genre that has traditionally been niche in the country. ## If momentum holds, Mahavatar Narsimha could not only become one of the highest-grossing animated Indian films but also pave the way for more animated divotional content on the big screen. It also marks an ambitious beginning of the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe (MCU). ## Note: The collection is with 3D charges.## Stay tuned...

Akshay Kumar Hails Ahaan Pandey, Aneet Padda's Saiyaara: 'A Newcomers' Film Doing Well Is the Best Thing for Bollywood'

Mumbai, July 26 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has lauded the blockbuster success of Yash Raj Films' romantic drama Saiyaara, which features two newcomers, Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda. The movie, directed by Mohit Suri, has crossed 300 crores gross collection in 9 days, and is heading towards finishing over 500 crores gross. ## During a recent interview with Sonal Kalra of Hindustan Times, Akshay shared his thoughts on the movie and called it a watershed moment for the industry. "I think it's the best thing that has happened. For our Hindi film industry, it's a great moment that a film starring two newcomers—a new boy and a new girl—has succeeded," Akshay said. ## While he hasn't seen the film himself yet, Akshay mentioned that his cousin had recently watched Saiyaara and was thoroughly impressed by the performances. "They said both the leads are amazing. Sacchi keh raha hoon — it is such a good thing," he added. ## Saiyaara's success has come without the face value as it features unknown actors, and the Housefull star emphasised the same by calling it a positive sign for the industry, especially after a turbulent few years marked by underwhelming box office performance. ## "Films are slowly starting to do well again... It's a good sign that a newcomers' film is performing so well,” he said, while also praising director Mohit Suri, who has long been known for his knack for emotional storytelling and unforgettable music. "He's done an excellent job, and his song choices are truly amazing." ## Akshay Kumar, who has had a good year so far and will next be seen in the highly-awaited Jolly LLB 3, ended up saying that "Saiyaara is more than a box office hit - it's a sign of Bollywood's revival, led by the next generation", which is something many have been saying since the day the movie was released. ## Stay tuned...

Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' Day 1 Box Office Prediction: A 100+ Crore Opening In Sight

Chennai, July 26 - The stakes are higher than ever, and the anticipation is at an all-time high for what is billed as one of the most ambitious films of Tamil cinema - Coolie. Starring superstar Rajinikanth, the gangster action drama is expected to ignite the box office this Independence Day weekend with records in sight. ## As the release date nears, the early box office indicators for this Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial are nothing short of explosive, especially seeing the reception in advance sales wherever it has opened, suggesting that Coolie could potentially rewrite the record books for Tamil cinema — and even Indian cinema at large. ## Prediction - What Could Be The First Day Collection of Coolie? ## The South Indian cinema, especially Tamil, has always been notoriously unpredictable at the box office, and Rajinikanth’s upcoming Coolie is no different. While the buzz surrounding the film is at a fever pitch, it will be sharing screens with another pan-India heavyweight — War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. However, the odds are still in favour of Coolie in some markets. ## So what could be the first-day collection of the film? Well, this is the question which will be answered when the film gets released. But the combination of superstar Rajinikanth and director Lokesh, with a strong supporting cast, ignites high hopes, and trade experts are already speculating the film's numbers based on the immense hype and market buzz. ## Coolie will have no competition in its home market, Tamil Nadu, where it will be eyeing one of the biggest or potentially the biggest start. While it is still early, the movie is expected to open in the range of 30-40 crores gross in the state. ## In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which have traditionally been strong contributors for Rajinikanth, Coolie could match or surpass Jailer's opening day collection of 12.50 crores, despite competition with War 2. The rest of the domestic regions may bring in another 20 crores gross. The overall domestic opening of Coolie can be in the range of 60-75 crores gross, which is excellent. ## The overseas pre-sales of Coolie are one of the best and are on par with Thalapathy Vijay's Leo. Trade is projecting a record opening for a Tamil movie in international markets. The film has already crossed Rajinikanth's Jailer, which scored 40 crores gross first day internationally, with pre-sales only. ## Though the competition with YRF's War 2 is still a reality, Coolie will be eyeing a 60-70+ crores start. A worldwide opening for the film might be in the range of 120-150 crore gross. As said earlier, word of mouth plays a vital role when it comes to setting high hopes regarding the box office. With a super positive reception, these projected numbers might go even higher, but might plunge as well if the reports are otherwise. ## With the Rajinikanth–Lokesh Kanagaraj duo coming together for the first time under a reputable production house like Sun Pictures, backed by immense hype, mass appeal, and technical grandeur, Coolie is not just a film — it's a pan-Indian box office event in the making. All eyes now turn to August, when the verdict will be written in crores. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, July 26 - Yash Raj Films' romantic drama Saiyaara is in the middle of an excellent second weekend after the historic first week collection at the worldwide box office. The movie continues to defy odds and is putting up insane numbers daily. ## After a historic first week, the Mohit Suri's directorial has entered its second weekend on an excellent note. The film maintained a strong grip on its second Friday with a worldwide gross of over 30 crores, including its first million-dollar day overseas — a rare feat for a debutante-led romantic drama. ## Saiyaara Tops 300 Crore Gross Worldwide In 9 Days ## By the end of its 8th day (second Friday, the film had already amassed an impressive 282 crores gross worldwide, including approximately 229 crores from India and 53 crores from overseas. Now, on its 9th day, Saiyaara has officially crossed the 300 crore milestone globally, becoming only the second Bollywood film of 2025 to do so after Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava (which stands at 808 crores gross worldwide). ## Saiyaara Eyes 100+ Crore Gross Worldwide In Second Weekend ## Saiyaara began its second weekend with a 21.50 crore gross in India on Friday and is poised to collect around 30 crores on Saturday. Early estimates for Sunday suggest a 30–35 crore gross, which would take its second weekend domestic gross to an estimated 85+ crores (70+ crores net). ## In overseas markets, the film is expected to rake in another 28–30 crores over the weekend, taking the total second weekend worldwide gross to an estimated 115 crores — an extraordinary figure. It is a one-horse race at the moment, with not much challenge at the box office from new movies in India. ## By the end of its second weekend, Saiyaara is set to hit approximately 365 crores gross worldwide. At this pace, it will likely surpass the lifetime gross of Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh (377 crores) by Monday or Tuesday, becoming the highest-grossing romantic Indian film of all time (non-inflation-adjusted). ## Stay tuned...

Hari Hara Veera Mallu Day 2 Collection: Pawan Kalyan-starrer Plummeted After Record Opening

Hyderabad, July 26 - The negative word of mouth appears to have made its presence felt earlier than anticipated, as Pawan Kalyan's period action adventure Hari Hara Veera Mallu plummeted on its second day, after the record-breaking opening for the superstar at the worldwide box office. ## Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and A. M. Jyothi Krishna, the film opened to an impressive 67 crore worldwide gross, including paid premiere shows. However, things started getting screwed by the evening of its opening day, as poor reviews and word of mouth began influencing footfalls. This trend only intensified on Friday, leading to a heavy drop in collections across regions. ## Hari Hara Veera Mallu Dropped By +70% On Day 2 ## It is normal for South Indian films to witness a decline in collections in early days, especially when met with mixed or negative word of mouth, but the Pawan Kalyan-starrer is among the worst hit films, where the collection plummeted domestically. Despite the immense hype and strong initial turnout, the film has suffered a steep decline in collections, pointing to a serious disconnect with audiences. ## While the official numbers are yet to come, HHVM grossed less than 10 crore on its first Friday, marking a devastating 80%+ drop from its full opening day (including premieres), and about 75% from the pure day 1 figures. ## The film’s two-day domestic gross now stands at approximately 65 crore, while the worldwide total has reached around 77 crore gross. Even in the early days, a heavy drop for a poorly received South Indian film doesn't surprise much, but in the case of HHVM, it came as a shocker with huge cost involved. ## What is Next For Hari Hara Veera Mallu? ## After crashing badly on its second day, there seems to be no way forward for HHVM. It might still attract some audience over Saturday and Sunday, but beyond that, it is looking extremely difficult for the film to sustain. The movie needs around 225 crores worldwide gross collection to break even, but that target is looking far from reality. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Saiyaara' Second Friday (Day 8) Early Estimates; Ahaan Pandey, Aneet Padda-starrer Stays Rock Solid

Mumbai, July 25 - After an exceptional first week total of over 170 crores net, Yash Raj Films' romantic drama Saiyaara has begun its second weekend on a blockbuster note. The Mohit Suri directorial continues its dream run with a rock-steady hold at the domestic box office, setting the stage for another big weekend. ## Starring debutante Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, the film has shown remarkable consistency so far. Early estimates suggest a collection in the range of 17.50–18.50 crores net on its second Friday, showing a minimal drop from yesterday. With this, Saiyaara's 8-day total stands at approximately 190 crores net. ## With less competition at the Hindi box office, Saiyaara is headed for the second weekend collection in the 70 crore net (+/-) range, which would be a record for a romantic drama and one of the biggest second weekends ever. The movie is expected to have a drop of just 15–20%, which is a remarkable hold. ## Even though it wouldn't have mattered much with the kind of phenomena Saiyaara has turned into, one of the major factors in the film's sustained momentum is the lack of competition, particularly in the Hindi-speaking belt, where the film is dominating single screens and multiplexes alike. And this is expected to continue, at least, till August 1st. ## Saiyaara is set to cross 200 crores net by Saturday, and if the momentum holds, it has an outside chance of touching the 250 crore net mark by the end of its second weekend — a monumental benchmark for a film led by fresh faces. ## Stay tuned...

When Fiction Fights Back: Maayakoothu’s Bold Narrative Experiment

Maayakoothu is a bold, imaginative Tamil film that dares to explore the relationship between a creator and his creations. The story revolves around Vasan, a self-absorbed writer with a god complex, who breathes life into four fictional characters from diverse, struggling backgrounds. The brilliance of the film lies in how these characters start stepping out of fiction into Vasan’s reality, confronting him about the pain and injustice he has inflicted upon them for the sake of storytelling. ##Nagarajan Kannan brings nuance to Vasan, capturing arrogance, detachment, and internal conflict ##Screenplay & Editing: Tight 105‑minute runtime, with smart structure and frequent mini‑twists that keep the narrative engaging ##Cinematography (Sundar Ram Krishnan) offers intimate, raw visuals; while considered effective, budget limitations slightly hamper its impact ##Music & Sound (Anjana Rajagopalan) debuts with an evocative score that enhances the surreal tone ##The film’s writing is its biggest strength—layered, reflective, and filled with sharp commentary on class, morality, and artistic responsibility. Director A. R. Raghavendra takes a grounded approach, using a modest visual style and minimalistic sets to keep the focus on characters and conflict. Performances across the board are strong, particularly from Nagarajan Kannan, who carries the film with his intense portrayal of a man unraveling under the weight of his own arrogance. However, the film does show signs of its indie budget—some transitions feel abrupt, and a few philosophical moments could have benefitted from more visual finesse or polish. A slightly more refined cinematographic touch might have elevated the film’s surreal tone. ##Still, Maayakoothu stands out for its ambition and thought-provoking storytelling. It may not appeal to all viewers, but for those who enjoy narrative risks and character-driven cinema, it’s a fascinating and haunting watch.
