Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, July 11 - Legendary Kamal Haasan and director Shankar reunited for the sequel to their vigilante action film Indian (1996). Indian 2 has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year which can be seen in the pre-sales. ## The advance sales of Indian 2 started a couple of days ago and as of 9 PM on July 11, it scored approximately 15 crores gross pre-sales (with block seats) for the opening day in India. The original Tamil version is leading the sales with over 10 crores gross, followed by the Telugu version.## Indian 2 has already become the biggest Tamil opener of 2024 with advance sales only, and considering the trend, it is heading for 35+ crores gross start in India which could go towards 40 crores depending on word of mouth for all versions. ## The Hindi version (Hindustani 2) of the movie, however, is expected to take a low start. The Hindi version pre-sales are currently approx. 30 lakh which indicates an opening in the range of 2 crore net (2.50 crores gross). It could go a little higher if WOM is positive but the competition with Akshay Kumar's Sarfira and holdover Kalki 2898 AD could dent its growth during the day. It will be released on nearly 2000 screens in Hindi. ## Indian 2 is expected to take the worldwide opening of 55+ crores gross which will be a fantastic start for the movie. The actor will first be seen in War 2. Chennai, July 10 - Tamil star Suriya's fantasy action thriller Kanguva with director Siva is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it a proper Pan India tentpole. ## The makers have been careful about Kanguva's release and were looking to bring it on the big screen after Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule which is scheduled to release on December 6 this year. However, the success of the recently released Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD changed everything. ## During a recent interview, Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green opened up that he was looking to postpone the movie further to the next year but then Kalki 2898 AD happened and made him change his mind due to its strong box office performance in North India. ## "I didn't sleep for three days ahead of Kalki 2898 AD's release. Because its success or failure will directly impact every South film released in the North. The trust of the audience and trade would have gone away from South films that are released in Hindi if Kalki hadn't worked", the filmmaker told Galatta Plus. ## Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, has been a force at the Hindi box office. It has already become the biggest grosser of the year in Hindi with over 225 crores net collection and still going strong while worldwide, the movie is nearing 900 crores gross.## "I announced the release date for Kanguva the day Kalki was released after it started performing well in Hindi-speaking states. Otherwise, I would have waited for the release of Pushpa 2 to bring back the positivity. As a producer, I need to find the right time to release, devise the right promotional strategy, and ensure the quality of the content", KE Gnanavel Raja added.## Kanguva is scheduled to be released on October 10, 2024, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Tokyo, July 9 - Director Prashanth Neel's action drama Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire scored the third biggest opening weekend for an Indian movie at the Japan box office. The Prabhas-fronted movie was released on July 5, six months after it debuted in December 2023. ## According to a trade report, Salaar grossed ¥18.2 million (Rs. 95 lakh) in the first weekend, playing at nearly 200 locations. It has beaten Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan which grossed JPY 14.6 million in the opening weekend in Japan to score the third biggest start for an Indian title. ## SS Rajamouli's RRR starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan remains the biggest Indian opener in the anime country with JPY 44 million in 2022, followed by Prabhas' Saaho with JPY 23 million. The current total of Salaar is JPY 23 million after scoring another ¥5 million on Monday and Tuesday.## Produced by Hombale Films, Salaar Ceasefire grossed approximately 618 crores at the worldwide box office in its original run. Akshay has a cameo in the Rajkummar Rao - Shraddha Kapoor starrer. The movie is directed by Siva whose last directorial venture was superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe (2021).## As Kanguva is gearing up for the Pan India release on October 10 this year, producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, confirmed in a recent interview that there will be two parts of Kanguva. The filmmaker revealed that they wrote the story for both parts and finished shooting for the first one. ## The filmmaker further revealed that Kanguva Part 1 was shot in over 185 days and the shoot for the second part will start at the end of 2025 or early 2026 as the makers are planning to release in January or summer of 2027. Chennai, July 9 - Actor and filmmaker Dhanush's second directorial venture Raayan has been censored with an 18+ rating by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for extreme display of violence, opposite of the actor's first directorial movie, Pa Paandi (2017) which was rated with a 'U' certificate. ## Raayan was censored on July 9, Tuesday, with an 'A' rating and the approved runtime of 2 hours and 25 minutes (145 minutes) which is a crisp and suitable runtime for these kinds of films. Produced by Sun Pictures, the movie is scheduled to be released on July 26.## In the movie, Raayan trains himself and goes in search of the killers to avenge the death of his family, where his quest of finding the killers leads him through the criminal underworld. ## Dhanush plays the title role, leading an ensemble cast which includes S.
