Box Office: Prabhas 'Salaar: Ceasefire' Scored Third Biggest Opening Weekend For An Indian Movie In Japan
Tokyo, July 9 - Director Prashanth Neel's action drama Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire scored the third biggest opening weekend for an Indian movie at the Japan box office. The Prabhas-fronted movie was released on July 5, six months after it debuted in December 2023.
According to a trade report, Salaar grossed ¥18.2 million (Rs. 95 lakh) in the first weekend, playing at nearly 200 locations. It has beaten Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan which grossed JPY 14.6 million in the opening weekend in Japan to score the third biggest start for an Indian title.
SS Rajamouli's RRR starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan remains the biggest Indian opener in the anime country with JPY 44 million in 2022, followed by Prabhas' Saaho with JPY 23 million. The current total of Salaar is JPY 23 million after scoring another ¥5 million on Monday and Tuesday.
Produced by Hombale Films, Salaar Ceasefire grossed approximately 618 crores at the worldwide box office in its original run. It was one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2023 and third third-highest for Prabhas at that time.
