Marvel Studios Announces Release Date Of 'Shang Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings' In Indian Cinemas

Mumbai, August 20, 2021: Marvel Studios has announced the release date of its upcoming superhero film, Shang Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, in Indian cinemas. The movie, which marks comic superhero Shang Chi in Marvel, will release with on September 3 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada in 3D and IMAX.

Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings is the first Asian superhero film. The movie is touted to be a historical moment in MCU as it is the first Marvel film to feature an all-Asian and Asian-American cast. Shang Chi, however, will clash with another Hollywood biggie Fast & Furious 9, which is also releasing on September 3 in India.



Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang Chi stars Simu Liu in the title role alongside Awkwafina, Meng'er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung in prominant roles. Additionally, Tim Roth reprises his role as the Abomination from The Incredible Hulk (2008) and will be seen fighting with Shang Chi in the film.

It is also the first Marvel movie to get an exclusive theatrical release for 45-days in the pandemic era, unlike Scarlett Johansson-led Black Widow, which debuted on Disney+ premiere access and in theaters on the same day in the US. Disney CEO Bob Chapek, however, had called Shang Chi's release an "experiment" amid the covid-19 pandemic, which got a response from the lead actor Simu Liu, who didn't seem too pleased with CEO's comment.
