Suriya's 'Vaadivaasal' With Director Vetrimaaran To Be Made In Three Parts: Report

Chennai, December 31 - Tamil star Suriya and director Vetrimaaran announced their maiden collaboration together a few years back in the form of Vaadivaasal. The movie should have kick-started and been released by now but due to Vetri's commitment to Viduthalai films, it faced multiple delays. ## The continued delays in the production of Vaadivaasal led to disappointment among the fans and there were rumours that it might get dropped. However, the project is on and it might start rolling in 2025 since Viduthalai films are done releasing. ## According to the latest Tamil media reports, Vaadivaasal may also go Viduthalai way as it is said that Vetrimaaran is planning to make it in three parts. The shoot for each instalment is likely to be extended. The animatronics work is currently in the final stage in London and the film will start rolling soon, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu said in a recent interview.## Vaadivaasal is based on Tamil Nadu's most celebrated traditional sport, Jallikattu for which, Suriya received special training with bulls. Suriya 44 Gets Official Title Teaser; Confirmed For Summer 2025 Release

Chennai, December 25 - Tamil star Suriya has teamed up with director Karthik Subbaraj for an action drama film centred around a love story. It is the 44th film of Suriya and on Wednesday, the makers announced its official title as Retro with the teaser.## The teaser reveals Suriya as a Southern Tamil Nadu native with a gang mafia as a family business while Pooja Hegde plays his love interest. It shows Suriya's character attempting to reform himself for the sake of love as he promises to his lover to give up anger, and violence. ## The film is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment in association with Stone Bench Films and Shakti Film Factory. Retro, which also stars Jayaram, Nasser, Joju George, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, and Karunakaran, among others is confirmed for the Summer of 2025 big screen debut in multiple languages.## The music of the film is done by Santhosh Narayanan while Shreyaas Krishna is the cinematographer. Box Office: 'UI', 'Marco', And 'Viduthalai Part - 2' Opening Day Early Estimates

Bengaluru, December 20 - Amid Pushpa 2 - The Rule's rampage at the box office, the new pre-Christmas 2024 weekend Indian releases are off to a good start. Director Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai Part - 2, Upendra's UI, and Malayalam title Marco among others hit the screens on December 20. ## Viduthalai Part 2 was the biggest opener among the new Indian titles and it has opened almost double the first movie. According to the early estimates, the crime thriller grossed an estimated 8 crores, including around 6.50 crores in Tamil Nadu on its opening day.## Kannada star and director Upendra's dystopian science fictional action UI has exceeded expectations and taken the biggest opening of 2024 for a Kannada title. Per estimates, the film has grossed in the range of 7.50-8 crores, which includes around 80 lakh in the Telugu version, on its first day.## The Malayalam A-rated action thriller, Marco starring Unni Mukundan, is another film of the day which performed well above expectations. Box Office: 'Maharaja' Beats 'Baahubali 2' To Become Highest Grossing South Indian Movie In China

Chennai, December 20 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the highest-grossing South Indian film and the 10th biggest Indian grosser at the Chinese box office. The film has exceeded expectations in the Mainland and is crawling towards the 100 crore mark. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has grossed approximately 85.75 crores ($10.12 million) through the third Thursday (21 days) in China, outgrossing the lifetime total of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (80.50 crores gross) to become the biggest South Indian grosser there. ## The film's pace at the box office has slowed, so it needs to be seen if it goes on to touch the 100 crore mark in China. Director Shankar Gives Big Update On Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 3' Release

Chennai, December 19 - Kamal Haasan-fronted vigilante action thriller Indian 2 was released earlier this year amid high expectations but it ended up as the biggest failure for director Shankar at the box office and critical front.## After the debacle box office performance of Indian 2, reports emerged that Indian 3 will skip theatrical release and will directly be an OTT release. However, during a recent interview, director Shankar discussed Indian 2 failure and also confirmed the upcoming movie will be a theatrical release. ## "I didn't expect such negative reviews for Indian 2. Chennai, December 14 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has crossed 100 crores gross collection at the overseas box office, including more than 75% contribution from China where the movie is approaching the century mark alone. ## Maharaja had minted approximately 24 crores gross overseas in its original run and upon its China release on November 29, it has grossed approximately 76+ crores gross there in 15 days. This took the total international collection of Maharaja to 100+ crores gross and there is still more to come. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, the movie is also nearing the 200 crores gross mark at the global box office and it should get there with major help from the Chinese market. Chennai, December 9 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has had a fantastic second weekend which was bigger than the first weekend at the China box office as it sets sight on the 100 crores lifetime finish there. ## The film grossed approximately 23.40 crores gross collection ($2.76 million) in the second weekend, a jump of over 20% from the first Friday to Sunday weekend collection of 21.10 crores gross. Dhanush Files Case Against Nayanthara

Chennai, November 27 - Tamil star Dhanush has filed a case against actress Nayanthara for allegedly using visuals related to his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary - Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale without his permission. ## Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, was produced by Dhanush and the actor-filmmaker has been at loggerheads with the actress for the same. Recently, Nayan shared a note on social media in which she slammed Dhanush for denying her permission and demanding a 10 crore sum for using the film's footage in the documentary. ## According to the report by NDTV, Dhanush has approached the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan and their production house Rowdy Pictures Private Limited as the civil suit claims the actress and others used certain visuals from the movie without obtaining NOC. ## Dhanush's Wunderber Films Private also has taken out an application urging the High Court to grant permission to sue the Mumbai-based company Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, an entity through which Netflix reports its content investments in India, per NDTV.## The lawsuit threatens that if the content (in Nayanthara's documentary) isn't taken down within 24 hours, Dhanush's legal team will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs. 10 crores against Nayanthara and Netflix India.## Stay tuned...
