Sidharth Malhotra's 'Shershaah' Will Be The Opening Film In 1st Himalayan Film Festival

Mumbai, September 22: After proving to be the biggest blockbuster for Amazon Prime Video, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer biographical war film "Shershaah" is all set to be screened on the big screen during the 1st ever The Himalayan Film Festival (THFF) on 24th September. ## Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur will inaugurate the first Himalayan Film Festival on 24th September 2021. The festival spanning five days is being held at Leh, Ladakh from 24th to 28th September 2021.## The inaugural of the festival will witness the presence of makers and cast of Shershah, including Director Shri Vishnuvardhan and the lead actor Shri Siddharth Malhotra. Shershah is also the opening feature film of the festival on September 24. Shershaah is a biographical war film based on the Kargil War hero, Param Vir Chakra awardee Capt. Vikram Batra. ## During the 5-day festival, a package of contemporary National awards and Indian panorama selected films will be showcased at the event. The screenings will be at the Sindhu Sankriti Auditorium, Leh having digital projection facilities.## The festival ceremony will also have a competition section for the short and documentary film where the Awards are for Best Film to be given to Director and Producer, Best Cinematography, Best Editor & Best Story. ## The Himalayan Film festival also envisions institutionalizing a Himalayan film fraternity which will have productive repercussions for filmmaking in the Himalayan parts of India. Telugu Film Nani's Gang Leader Set To Be Remade In Hindi

Mumbai, September 23: Bollywood filmmakers may be facing criticism for going after remakes of regional movies, but their love affair with remakes seems unending. With over 30 South film remakes already in the various stages of production, Bollywood filmmakers are continuously adding more and more films to this list and proving the critics right that they lack originality and are widely dependent on remakes. ## Speaking about the latest soon-to-be remade in Hindi, Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan's Tamil blockbuster "96" was recently confirmed to be remade in Hindi by "Attack" producer Ajay Kapoor and now, there are reports that Nani's one of the most loved Telugu movie "Gang Leader" is also ready for Bollywood makeover. ## According to Peepingmoon, producer Akshai Puri of 12th Street Entertainment has bought the rights to this 2019 Telugu comedy thriller directed by Vikram Kumar. He said to have got the remake rights just last week and will soon set up a team of writers to adapt the screenplay to suit it with Hindi audiences. ## Even before the reports of the Hindi remake of "Gang Leader" came out, this Nani starrer was in news recently after a rumored plot line of Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee's film emerged on social media. Speculations started doing rounds regarding the similarity between two films after a web portal claimed that "Atlee film will be a massive revenge action-entertainer that will have Shah Rukh Khan assembling a team of women, who wanted to seek revenge for their past, to rob something untouchable". ## While it's true that SRK-Atlee's much-anticipated Pan-India offering is a robbery drama, it has nothing to do with Nani's Gang Leader as the film's remake rights are with Akshai Puri. "Gang Leader" revolves around five women who seek the help of a budding crime novelist (played by Nani) to avenge the death of their loved ones. Kangana Ranaut Files A Counter Defamation Case Against Javed Akhtar

Mumbai, September 20, 2021: Actress Kangana Ranaut appeared before a magistrate's court in Andheri, Mumbai, for the hearing in the defamation case filed against her by veteran Bollywood lyricist, Javed Akhtar. ## The court had directed the actress last week to appear on the next date, failing which it would issue an arrest warrant. After Kangana's appearance, the court adjourned the matter to November 15. ## Kangana, however, is not happy with the in-charge court on the grounds and moved a plea before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate seeking a transfer of the defamation case as she has "lost faith". She also filed a counter defamation case against Akhtar. Both will be heard on October 1. ## In her complaint against the veteran lyricist, Ranaut has accused him of extortion and criminal intimidation among other charges. She claims that in a public dispute with a co-star, Hrithik Roshan, Akhtar called her sister and her to his house at Juhu, and threatened her.## "The said accused (Akhtar) even had the audacity to then "force me to tender a written apology to my said co-star (Roshan), thus, forcefully seeking to create a document (valuable security) in favour of my co-star", Ranaut's plea said.## Earlier, Akhtar (76) had filed the complaint in the court in November last year, claiming Ranaut had made defamatory statements against him in a television interview, which allegedly damaged his reputation.## Stay tuned...

A Documentary Series On Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan Is In The Making

Actor Sonu Sood Evaded Over Rs. 20 Crore In Taxes, Violated FCRA Norms, Claims IT Department

Mumbai, September 18, 2021: The Income Tax department, which had speed up and widened its tax evasion probe against actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood, has claimed in a statement that the actor has evaded taxes of over Rs. 20 crore. ## After conducting raids at the actor's premise for three days in a row at different locations, the department today said that it has found incriminating evidence pertaining to tax evasion during the search. "The main modus operandi followed by the actor had been to route his unaccounted income in the form of bogus unsecured loans from many bogus entities", the IT department said in a statement. ## Sonu Sood has been hailed as massiah for his philanthropical efforts during the covid-19 lockdown and tried to help people as much as he could. He had recently announced a tie-up with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party.## "Investigations so far have revealed use of 20 such entries, the providers of which, on examination, have accepted on oath to have given bogus accommodation entries. They have accepted to have issued cheques in lieu of cash. There have been instances where professional receipts have been camouflaged as loans in the books of accounts for the purpose of evasion of tax. It has also been revealed that these bogus loans have been used for making investments and acquiring properties. The total amount of tax evaded unearthed so far, amounts to more than Rs. 20 crore", the statement further read.## The CBDT said that the foundation has collected donations worth Rs. 18.94 crore from April 1, 2021, till date, out of which it has spent around Rs. 1.9 crore towards various relief work while the balance of Rs. 17 crore has been found lying unutilised in the bank account of the foundation.## "It is seen that funds to the tune of Rs. 2.1 crore have also been raised by the charity foundation from overseas donors on a crowdfunding platform in violation of (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) FCRA regulations", the CBDT statement added.## The department also said that cash of Rs 1.8 crore has been seized during the searches and 11 lockers have been placed under prohibitory order. Mumbai, September 17, 2021: Earlier in the year, there were reports claiming that actress Taapsee Pannu was to be cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan in director Rajkumar Hirani's social drama film based on illegal immigration. ## While there is no official confirmation yet on the same, it has now been reportedly confirmed that the actress is indeed playing the female lead opposite SRK. It will be the first time when she will share screen space with SRK. ## "Taapsee is on board. She is doing Hirani's film. But she is not allowed to talk about it. Until the news is official, she cannot comment on it. The producers, Shah Rukh's Red Chillies and Hirani's production house will make the announcement soon", a source close to the development told Cinema Journal. ## The film will mark Shah Rukh Khan's maiden collaboration with Hirani. The duo was supposed to collaborate in Munna Bhai MBBS but things didn't work out. Meanwhile, the maiden collaboration of SRK-Hirani is not a regular Bollywood social drama but rather deals with a broader immigration issue. ## The movie will reportedly focus on illegal immigration called "donkey flight", which has emerged as a popular escape path for Indians hoping to immigrate to the US and Canada. Shah Rukh Khan, who was last seen in Anand L Rai's "Zero" in 2018, will reportedly start shooting on Hirani's film in May 2022. The movie, which went on floors on 31st October 2019, was delayed multiple times due to the covid-19 pandemic. ## The comedy-drama film directed by Advait Chandan is an adaptation of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump which itself is based on Winston Groom's 1986 novel of the same name.
