Kangana Ranaut Announces New Release Date of 'Emergency'

Mumbai, June 25 - Kangana Ranaut, the recently elected member of parliament, has announced a new release date for his long-awaited biographical political drama Emergency on the day of the 50th year of The Emergency imposed in 1975 for two years by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi. ## The movie, which is written, directed and stars Kangana Ranaut as the late Indira Gandhi, was supposed to be released on June 14 but it will now hit worldwide theatres on September 6, 2024, and will have a solo release. Kangana has also produced it under her banner Manikarnika Films with EaseMyTrip. ## Emergency marks Kangana's second directorial venture after Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which she co-directed with Krish Jagarlamudi in 2019. Apart from the Queen actress, Emergency also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik as various political leaders. ## National award-winning music composer, G. V. Mumbai, June 24 - Maddock Films' Munjya has topped 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office, becoming the 7th Bollywood film of 2024 to achieve the feat. The horror-comedy entered the 100 crores gross club on its 17th day. ## Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya has approximately 98.35 crores gross (83.30 crores net) in India and an estimated 4.25 crores overseas for 102.60 crores worldwide gross through the third Sunday. It is the second movie in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe to reach the 100 crores mark after Stree (182 crores).## Starring Abhay Verma, and Sharvari Wagh, Munjya is in the race to top 100 crores net collection. It is expected to reach around 90 crores mark by the end of the second week and then, the race to the century mark will begin thereafter. Mumbai, June 19 - The Bombay High Court has allowed the release of Annu Kapoor's Hamare Baarah after the makers agreed to delete some objectionable scenes. The movie, which was supposed to be released on June 7, will now hit screens on June 21. ## According to Bar and Bench, a bench of Justices BP Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla watched the film and suggested changes which both the moviemakers and the petitioners agreed to. ## The court, after a thorough review, also said that the movie did not contain any objectionable content against the Quran or the Muslim community, instead, the court found the movie to be aimed at the "upliftment of women", according to NDTV report. ## "The movie is in fact for the upliftment of women. The movie has a Maulana misinterpreting the Quran and in fact, one Muslim man objects to the same in the scene. So this shows that people should apply their mind and not blindly follow such Maulanas", the high court said. ## Meanwhile, the court imposed a fine of Rs. 5 lakh on the makers of the movie for releasing the trailer before getting CBFC certification. The fine is to be donated to a charity of the petitioners' choice. "Violation was there vis-a-vis the trailer. So you will have to pay something towards a charity of the petitioner's choice. The cost will have to be paid. This litigation has got the film so much unpaid publicity", the court added.## Hamare Baarah is directed by Kamal Chandra and it also stars Rahul Bagga, Manoj Joshi, and Ashwini Kalsekar, among others. Box Office: 'Chandu Champion' Second Day/First Saturday Early Estimates

Mumbai, June 15 - After the low start, Kartik Aaryan-fronted Chandu Champion shows a much-needed growth of around 40% on its second day which is a good recovery but the overall collection is still not big enough to cover the lost ground. ## Kabir Khan's directorial benefits from positive word-of-mouth as it collects around 6.50-7 crores net on its first Saturday, as per early estimates. Ideally, this should have been the opening day figure to set the tone for a good opening weekend but that is not the case. ## Chandu Champion's total collection after 2 days is around 11.50 crores. It can still manage to score a decent weekend if it can see a similar or better jump on Sunday which is very much possible given Monday is a holiday. The 3-day opening weekend is heading for 19-20+ crores while the extended weekend could be around 25+ crores. ## The positive word of mouth is clearly showing its effect but the real test for the movie will begin after Monday Bakrid holiday. The 100 crores mark looks a far cry at this moment but the movie needs to hold firmly beyond the weekend to even stand a chance to come closer to this mark.## Stay tuned...

Tripti Dimri replaced Kiara Advani to play the female lead. ## The makers locked the Diwali 2024 release for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, however, it won't be a solo release as director Rohit Shetty has also locked the date for his highly-anticipated cop action drama Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn in the title role. ## The box office clash between two hugely popular franchises has become a hot topic on social media and director Bazmee finally reacted on the same. During a recent interaction with Hindustan Times (via Firstpost), Bazmee shared his thoughts on this much-awaited box office battle. ## "Clashes are never a good idea. We had announced our release date for BB 3 a year in advance. I don't what to do now. All films get affected when there is a clash, there is definitely a loss in the process. And, it is not about showing confidence in your product. Mumbai, June 14 - Kartik Aaryan-fronted biographical sports drama Chandu Champion has taken a slow start at the domestic box office as the movie couldn't generate much pre-release excitement among the moviegoers. ## The movie had low pre-sales which confirmed a low opening but there were hopes that things would improve with positive word-of-mouth which wasn't the case at least on the first day as early estimates suggest opening in around 4.50-5 crores net. The makers did try to lure the audience by keeping the ticket prices low for the first day only but it had less impact. ## The good thing for the movie is that the reception is seemingly positive among the general audiences so box office prospects may improve over the weekend which is a must.
