Film fraternity mourns the demise of the veteran choreographer Saroj Khan

An ace choreographer who choreographed some of the iconic songs of the Hindi cinema, Saroj Khan passed away early morning on Friday (July 3) due to sudden cardiac arrest in Mumbai. She was 71-year old. The three times national award winner was hailed as one of the most prominent dance choreographers of India and was famously known as "The Mother of Dance/Choreography in India". ## The news of the veteran choreographer's death saddened the film fraternity. Multiplex Association of India writes to Ministry of Home Affairs seeking re-opening of cinemas

The Multiplex Association of India disappointed as the cinemas and multiplexes continue to remain in prohibited activities under the central government's Unlock 2.0 guidelines despite knowing the fact that most of the things are being opened up. ## On Thursday, July 2, the association writes to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) seeking the re-opening of cinemas. It stated that the reopening of cinemas can set an example of how social distancing guidelines can be exercised in a planned manner. It also gave an example of some of the countries that have opened up cinemas with the implementation of the highest degree of safety protocols. ## The Association also highlights that the multiplexes provide more than 200000 employment directly. Being the backbone of the film industry and generates 60% of revenues of the film business, the Association stressed out how the lockdown has brought the industry at a standstill with losses mounting every passing day. ## While the uncertainty over re-opening of cinemas remains to continue, the Association believes that even the theaters re-open now, it may take 3-6 months before things return anywhere close to normalcy. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations as the organization has invited 819 new artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures to join the organization. ## Every year, some of the Indian celebrities also get an invitation to join the ceremony. This year, Hrithik Roshan and Alia Bhatt are two of the few Indians who have been invited to become new members. The Academy has recognized Hrithik Roshan for his work in Super 30 and Jodha Akbar while Alia Bhatt received an invitation for her brilliant work in Raazi and Gully Boy. ## "The Academy is delighted to welcome these distinguished fellow travelers in the motion picture arts and sciences. Then I went to New York and Paris to work as a model and I realised my skin colour was exotic there and I got more work and attention because of it. Another discovery of mine:) Once I came back into India and film offers started... and finally I did my first film and from an absolute Ajnabee to Hindi film industry ...I suddenly was accepted and loved. But the adjective stayed which I started liking and loving by then.DUSKY girl wows the audiences in her debut film. In most of my articles for all the work I did,my duskiness seemed to be the main discussion.. it attributed to my sex appeal apparently.And sexy in Bollywood started getting accepted widely.I never really understood this... To me sexy is the personality not just the colour of your skin...why my skin colour only sets me apart from the conventional actresses at that time.But that’s the way it was.I didn’t really see much of difference but I guess people did.There was a strong mindset of Beauty and how an actress should look and behave.I was DIFFERENT as it was pointed out. Didn’t really stop me from being and doing all that I loved. Well you see I was confident and proud of who I was from childhood.My skin colour didn’t define me ... even though I love it and wouldn’t want it to be any different ever. Many skin care endorsements with loads of money was offered to me in the last 18 years ( some were very tempting)... but I stuck to my principle always. All this needs to stop. This wrong dream that we are selling ... that only fair is lovely and beautiful when the majority of the country is brown skinned. It’s a deep rooted stigma. The director of Sushant Singh Rajput's Dil Bechara, Mukesh Chhabra on Thursday (June 25) got emotional after his debut directorial which also would be the last film of Sushant has been announced for its digital release by the makers of the film.## Mukesh Chhabra who shared a close friendship with Sushant post a heartfelt note on social media and stated that he along with the 'Dil Bechara' team, will celebrate the late actor through the release of the film which will be premiered on July 24, 2020, on Disney Plus Hotstar. ## Sushant Singh Rajput who claimed his life on June 14 at his residence in Mumbai had promised Mukesh Chhabra to be a part of the director's debut movie. Now, Mukesh Chhabra is overwhelmed by the decision of makers to release the movie and make it available to everyone. ## Chhabra shared the poster of the movie along with a note stating, "Sushant was not just a hero of my debut film as a director but he was a dear friend who stood by me through thick and thin. We had been close right from the Kai Po Che to Dil Bechara".## "He had promised me that he would be in my first film. So many plans were made together but never once did I ever imagine that I would be releasing this film without him.
