BY SACNILK

WrestleMania week has been a victory lap for WWE, with both Raw and SmackDown setting record highs for ticket sales and gross revenue. ## The week kicked off with a bang on April 1st when Triple H announced that Raw, held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, was poised to achieve the largest domestic gate (total ticket sales revenue) in the show's history. ## This exciting news was followed just days later by another record-breaker. On April 5th, Triple H took to social media to declare that Friday's taping of SmackDown at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, had become the highest-grossing episode of SmackDown ever.## This SmackDown taping held additional significance as it served as the “go-home show” – the final episode before the year’s biggest event, WrestleMania. The night was capped off with the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Ticket sales for both events at the Wells Fargo Center were impressive, with WrestleTix reporting over 17,000 tickets distributed as of the morning of April 5th.## These record-breaking achievements paint a picture of a thriving WWE. With WrestleMania itself still to come, excitement is undoubtedly reaching a fever pitch among wrestling fans. ## Another day, another record set on the Road to #WrestleMania XL. The Rock Feels Fans Are Excited, Likens Current Era To Golden Age Of Wrestling

BY SACNILK

The current phase in WWE is arguably one of the most exciting periods wrestling fans have ever witnessed. Triple H's influence has grown significantly since Vince McMahon stepped down in 2022. The long-term impact of his leadership is still unfolding, but early signs are promising.## Since taking on a bigger leadership role, Triple H has brought back some wrestlers previously released by WWE, such as CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Jade Cargill, and Andrade, to name a few. This move has been well-received by fans who enjoy these wrestlers and adds depth to the roster. ## WWE is performing well across the board, and the return of The Rock has further boosted its success. Several SmackDown episodes featuring The Rock became sell-outs, indicating strong fan interest.## Speaking to Joe Tessitore of ESPN, The Rock addressed the fan reaction to the current era of WWE, which is characterized by a renewed passion for the product. ## "What I'm feeling with the fans, and you know, I think that's one of the great benefits of this business of professional wrestling. I was very lucky and fortunate that I grew up in it. I was born into it. For those who may not know, uh, my grandfather was a professional wrestler, my dad was a professional wrestler. My grandfather wrestled for Vince McMahon Senior in the 70s. My dad came along in the 80s, uh, he was a trailblazer as well. I came along in the 90s, ruined everything with my bad haircut, my fanny pack as I like to say. Um, but what I'm sensing now, Joe, is that fans are excited at this idea that professional wrestling, yes, is cool again. It's exciting again, it's unpredictable, and it kind of hearkens back to, in my opinion, which was my personal goal, um, you have a sense in the spirit of professional wrestling in the early 80s.## Where that was a really unique time in this world of professional wrestling, where a shift started to happen in the culture, in the Zeitgeist, where Hulk Hogan, The Immortal Hulk Hogan, became what he became, and professional wrestling became national, then it became global. But the cornerstone and the underpinning happened in the early 80s. So you had, and again, growing up just as a fan of a man who, and a kid who just loved professional wrestling, loved the bad guys, um, at that time in the early 80s, you had Hulk Hogan, you also had Ric Flair, and you had Dusty Rhodes, and you had guys like that who were ushering in this really unique style of professional wrestling where there was a blurring of the line, so to speak, between reality and fiction, and how they merged and converged together at times in the early 80s created this really cool, unique, as we call it in wrestling parlance, as you would shoot wrestling angles, yeah? Um, people would watch and go, "That was really cool! Is that… that looks real! Like, what is that? What's unique about it?" So, uh, I feel like, um, in this world of pro wrestling, things can come full circle, and I think it's getting coming back around full circle, but also in this unique way where, um, I always say teamwork makes the dream work, or so I am, one luckily, one of many individuals who are ushering in this new era, if you will." ## If you use any of the quotes above, please credit the original source with a h/t and link back to Sacnilk for the transcription. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

The Rock Discusses How 'We Want Cody' Movement Changed WrestleMania Plans

BY SACNILK

The Rock's highly anticipated return to WWE at Raw Day One had fans buzzing with a potential Roman Reigns rivalry. However, The Rock reveals in a recent interview with Joe Tessitore of ESPN how the "We Want Cody" movement shifted the direction of WrestleMania 40. ## The Rock discussed his character's evolution, highlighting the importance of truly listening to the fans. He initially envisioned a clash with Reigns, but the "We Want Cody" chants sparked a crucial moment.## The Rock initially planned a WrestleMania main event with Reigns under Vince McMahon's leadership. However, with Nick Khan and Ari Emanuel on board, the focus shifted to making WrestleMania 40 the biggest ever, featuring a Rock vs. Reigns showdown. But then came the turning point.## "The fans started to voice their concern," The Rock acknowledged. He emphasized the importance of fan feedback and the need to take action, leading to a new proposition.## The Rock proposed a bold move: stepping aside from his planned match and allowing the invested storyline between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns to take center stage. He envisioned a heel turn for himself, a "Final Boss" Rock at version 10.0. ## This decision wasn't just about fan satisfaction; it was about capitalizing on an existing storyline the company had already invested in. The Rock vs. Reigns could wait, and a heel Rock promised a fresh and exciting experience.## The Rock previously revealed a locked WrestleMania 39 match with Reigns, but with Vince McMahon's departure and the changing landscape, plans shifted dramatically. WrestleMania 40 will now see a unique tag team main event on Night One, pitting The Rock and Roman Reigns against the unlikely duo of Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Cody Rhodes Sets Sights On Unifying WWE Titles And Going Brand Neutral

BY SACNILK

Cody Rhodes, the current frontrunner to dethrone Roman Reigns and claim the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40, has unveiled his ambitions for the coveted title. In a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Rhodes hinted at a unique championship reign, suggesting he intends to be a champion for both Raw and SmackDown. ## This revelation suggests Rhodes would operate as a free agent, a position distinct from his current placement on the Raw brand. The Universal Championship has resided on SmackDown since late 2019, though it was unified with Raw's WWE Championship in 2022.## However, the Raw brand boasts its own world champion – Seth Rollins, who captured the newly established World Heavyweight Championship last year. Interestingly, Rhodes and Rollins will find themselves as unlikely allies on the grandest stage of them all, teaming up in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night One against Roman Reigns and The Rock. Their victory would bar The Bloodline from interfering in the championship match on Night Two, while a Reigns and Rock win would see the championship contested under “Bloodline Rules.”## The Rock himself has publicly voiced his disapproval of the shift away from the originally planned WrestleMania 40 main event. With the stakes higher than ever, all eyes are on Cody Rhodes and his potential to rewrite championship history. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Paul Heyman Breaks Kayfabe, Mentions Brock Lesnar During Hall of Fame Induction

BY SACNILK

Paul Heyman's WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 5th wasn't without its surprises. While Lesnar was noticeably absent from the official video package, Heyman defied expectations by acknowledging his longtime client, Brock Lesnar, during his speech.## Heyman, known for his "advocate" role and signature introductions, took a humorous and energetic approach to his acceptance speech. He referenced his history as a wrestling disrupter, his leadership of ECW, and even took a playful jab at Stephanie McMahon. For the ECW segment, he donned classic ECW gear and declared that the spirit of the brand is far from dead.## While recapping his career highlights, Heyman specifically mentioned advocating for Lesnar, even delivering his trademark introduction for "The Beast Incarnate." This is significant because Lesnar was entirely omitted from the official WWE-produced video package. The closest reference was a brief mention of Heyman managing the "1 in 21-1," Lesnar's undefeated streak record.## Lesnar's exclusion likely stems from his implication in an ongoing lawsuit against WWE. The lawsuit alleges that Vince McMahon used an unnamed "world-famous athlete" to keep Lesnar, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, happy during contract negotiations. Since the lawsuit's filing, Lesnar has been pulled from WWE creative plans and television appearances. ## PAUL HEYMAN NAME DROPPED BROCK LESNAR!!#smackdown #WWEHOF pic.twitter.com/PuMj3AHj2H— Maverick (@OneTrueMav) April 6, 2024 ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...
