Los Angeles, September 10 - Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' much-anticipated Spider-Man 4 is officially in development and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton has been handed over duty to direct it, per The Hollywood Reporter.## Amid the speculation of who would take up the role to direct one of the biggest Hollywood films in the making, Cretton is set to lend the job. The filmmaker will bring fresh blood to this iteration of Spider-Man. Tom Holland will return to reprise his role as the web-slinger in the upcoming film. ## Destin Daniel Cretton will be the fourth director to direct a Spider-Man movie. Earlier, Jon Watts directed the previous three Holland-starring movies, while Marc Webb helmed the two Amazing Spider-Man movies that starred Andrew Garfield. Sam Raimi directed the trilogy that featured Tobey Maguire. ## The production of Spider-Man will commence in early 2025, and according to rumours, it will be released in July 2026, a couple of months after Avengers: Doomsday, which will be directed by the Russo Brothers. Interestingly, Cretton was supposed to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (now Avengers: Doomsday), but was dropped amid the project's changing production schedule. ## Meanwhile, Cretton also has Sang-Chi 2 and a live-action adaptation of Naruto in the pipeline to direct. Chennai, July 17 - Actor Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited biographical war action film Amaran, based on the book series, India's Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, has been confirmed to hit the big screens on October 31, 2024, in multiple Indian languages.## Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is the biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan (played by Sivakarthikeyan), a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment. Mukund Varadarajan was posthumously awarded Ashoka Chakra for his actions during a counterterrorism operation.## The movie is produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International in association with Sony Pictures Films India, and it also stars Sai Pallavi as the female lead alongside Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose, among others.## Amaran will be released on the occasion of the Diwali festival on October 31 and will clash with multiple other films in different languages. Mumbai, May 18 - Tom Hardy-led superhero film Venom - The Last Dance is set to bring curtains to the three-part franchise, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed to the Deadline. ## Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom 3 is intended to be the fifth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) and the sequel to Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). It will conclude the Venom franchise which Tom Rothman believes is going to be huge. ## Venom 3 was more or less confirmed to be the final movie in the franchise when the title was announced last year and the mixed success of Sony's Spider-Man Universe is also reportedly a major reason for the studio to move on from the SSU. ## Meanwhile, the first two Venom films were box office successes despite the mixed reviews. Los Angeles, March 13 - Tom Hardy-led third instalment in the superhero Venom franchise has an official title and a new release date. ## Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom 3 has been titled Venom: The Last Dance and is confirmed to hit big screens on October 25, 2024, moving up by two weeks from the previous date of November 8. It is intended to be the sixth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU). ## The Venom franchise originated in 2018 and was directed by Ruben Fleischer. Mumbai, February 17 - Dakota Johnson-led superhero movie Madame Web is now the worst-reviewed Sony Pictures' Marvel movie. It is the fourth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) after Venom (2018), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), and Morbius (2022). ## Directed by S. J. Clarkson, Madame Web's critics' score at Rotten Tomatoes is currently at just 13% from 175 reviews while the audience score is 54%, making it the worst-rated Spider-Man spin-off film on both parameters. Los Angeles, July 29 - Sony Pictures set to debut a Venom movie in the summer season for the first time as Tom Hardy's "Venom 3" has been confirmed to hit big screens on July 12, 2024. The first two movies, "Venom", and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" opened in the month of October in 2018 and 2021, respectively. ## "Venom 3" release date puts in-between Disney's "Mufasa: The Lion King" (July 5, 2024) and Universal Pictures' "Twisters" (July 19, 2024). Tom Hardy has written the script for the third Venom installment with Kelly Marcel, who is also stepping into the director's chair to helm the Marvel superhero movie. ## The first Venom movie was highly successful, grossing $856 million at the worldwide box office. The sequel was released during the covid-19 pandemic and still grossed $502 million. Interestingly, "Venom 2" had a bigger opening with a $90 million opening weekend in North America as compared to its predecessor's $80 million start.## Apart from the setting "Venom 3" release date, Sony made several major changes to its release calendar, including delaying "Kraven the Hunter" to August 30, 2024, from October this year and a "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" sequel to March 29, 2024, from December this year. ## Meanwhile, "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse", which was supposed to hit screens on March 29, 2024, has now been postponed indefinitely by the studio due to SAG-AFTRA's strike. Los Angeles, June 16 - Sony Pictures has reportedly revealed the arrival date of Tom Holland-led Spider-Man 4. Since the release of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021), fans are awaiting the return of Holland's web-slinger after the studio confirmed the development of, at least, one more film. ## Tom Holland recently revealed that they were working on the script but it had to stop due to the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) strike. Now, according to Deadline, Sony has set release dates for two untitled Marvel movies, November 8, 2024, and June 27, 2025. ## It is reported that Sony is planning to release "Venom 3" in October 2024, making it very likely the symbiote flick will take the November 2024 date. The second date, however, can't be confirmed as to which film it is associated with, reports say it is "Spider-Man 4". ## With the 4th installment of the Tom Holland-led franchise now in the works at Sony and Marvel Studios - although development was recently put on hold - it's very likely the Tom Holland movie will take the June 27, 2025, release date.## "Spider-Man 4" is already in the scripting stage as Tom Holland hyped it recently saying, it is "looking pretty good" with "some stuff going on" that he's "excited about". Mumbai, June 7 - In February last year, Sony Pictures India in association with Mukesh Khanna's Bheeshm International, and Brewing Thoughts Private Limited announced the cinematic adaptation of the popular Indian superhero show Shaktimaan. ## Sony Pictures announced the movie as a planned trilogy, but there hasn't been much development happened since the announcement. During this, the rumors have been making rounds that Ranveer Singh was approached to play the iconic role but there was no confirmation about the same after that. ## Mukesh Khanna, who played the titular role in the "Shaktimaan" tv series, has now opened up on why the production of the movie is getting delayed and when it will start rolling. Khanna confirmed that the contract between him and Sony Pictures has already been signed and plans are being made to start the production soon. ## "This is a big-scale project and each film in the trilogy would cost at least 200-300 crores in the making. This is not a small film, it is a massive film, and that takes time. A lot of things are happening, but I am not allowed to talk", Khanna said in a video on his YouTube Channel Bhishma International.## The actor-producer also revealed that he cannot make any appearance in Shaktimaan's get-up now as the makers of the movie don't want any comparison. Khanna, however, refused to reveal the actor who will play the role of "Shaktimaan" but promised that the cast will be revealed soon. ## It has been also reported that Malayalam filmmaker Basil Joseph has been approached to direct the film with Ranveer Singh being the front-runner to headline it. Los Angeles, June 2 - Sony Pictures' animated superhero movie Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is up for a fantastic opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office after scoring the second biggest Thursday previews for an animated title. ## The sequel to "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" (2018) grabbed eyeballs with an excellent $17.40 million off previews that began at 3 PM domestically. This is the second-biggest preview for an animated movie ever after Disney/Pixar's "Incredibles 2" ($18.5M) in 2018. ## Riding high with rave reviews, "Across The Spider-Verse" Thursday previews gross is 4.5x more than what the first film "Into The Spider-Verse" did which was $3.5 million before putting the 3-day opening weekend of $35.3 million. ## The Hollywood Trade initially projected a $75 million - $90 million opening weekend for the sequel, however, after the fantastic Thursday previews, the projection is now $115 million - $125 million which will be more than thrice of the first film. The chances are high for the movie to post such numbers knowing that "Incredibles 2" went on to score a mammoth $182.6 million weekend which is the biggest ever for an animated movie. ## Meanwhile, "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse" also has a good start in India, scoring over 5 crores gross ($610K) on Thursday opening day across all languages. Los Angeles, June 1 - Sony Pictures' animated superhero movie "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" finally hits theaters this weekend worldwide amid roaring critics' scores, indicating that the studio might have a massive winner in their hands. ## As "Across the Spider-Verse" has been released, the producers have set their eyes on the third installment "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" which releases in March next year. Now, the good news is that the 3rd movie is not the only Spider-Man project in the makers' minds. ## Producer Amy Pascal confirmed to Variety's reporter Marc Malkin at the "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" premiere in Los Angeles that the studio is already working on "Spider-Woman" movie along with the live-action version of Miles Morales. Thompson, "Across the Spider-Verse" moved by one day and will now be hitting Indian cinemas on June 1st in 10 languages, including the original English language.
